Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1244
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
(Lucyâs POV)
Ever since Arronâs kidnapping, Rufus had kept me locked up in the palace. Even Firman wasnât allowed to step foot outside. But every day, a tutor would come to give Firman lessons.
As for Rosa, I didnât know what Rufus would do to her. I hadnât heard any news about her ever since the kidnapping.
During this period of time, I was like a frightened, caged bird. I was restless every day and could hardly sleep at night. Every time Iâd manage to drift off, Iâd have nightmares of drowning or Firman being killed.
I had been doing everything in my power to get information from outside, but Rufus seemed to have removed my people from office one by one.
Only me and Firman remained in this palace. We were alone and isolated from the outside world.
Even a child as young as Firman could tell that something was wrong. He grew more uneasy with each day that passed, and he always wanted me to hug him.
I felt terrible. I was the one who got my dear Firman into trouble. If it werenât for me, he wouldnât be in this miserable situation.
âMom, canât we leave this place someday? Whatâs going on? There are many guards outside,â Firman mused curiously, poking his head out the window.
I t*ouched his soft hair and explained, âDonât be afraid. Itâs just a routine patrol. Recently, there has been a lot of kidnappings in the city, so youâre not allowed to go out. Things will return to normal once
they have captured the kidnappers.â
âReally? I have a good friend in kindergarten. We were supposed to fly kites together.â Firman looked at me innocently, with hope for freedom in his doe-like eyes.
My heart sank. I felt so guilty that I couldnât meet his expectant gaze. âDonât worry, honey. Iâll make you a big kite later. How about a tiger-shaped kite? It would look very fierce in the sky.â
Firmanâs eyes lit up happily. âThank you, Mom! I hope those kidnappers will be caught as soon as possible so that I can go outside!â
âYes, donât worry, baby. Theyâll be caught soon,â I said softly, my voice thick with emotion.
Just then, a guard came to announce that the tutor had arrived.
I knelt down in front of Firman and tidied up his clothes. Then we headed to the study to meet the tutor.
Firman looked forward to his classes each day. Although the tutor Rufus had sent was very serious, he was a good teacher.
While Firman was in class, I sat and waited in the pavilion outside.
When Firman bounded out of the study, I knew that his classes were over, so I immediately approached the tutor to ask about Firmanâs studies. Truth be told, I also wanted to subtly ask about the outside world.
But the tutor was very discreet. He wouldnât tell me anything aside from Firmanâs progress in class.
The tutorâs tone was flat, and he was neither polite nor rude. He didnât treat me like I was the former princeâs wife.
I had no choice but to try to force some answers out of him. But unexpectedly, when I asked for information, the tutor seemed annoyed. With a darkened expression, he said coldly, âIf you keep asking, Iâll have to report you to the king.â
I immediately shut up. Just thinking about Rufus scared me out of my wits.
Once upon a time, I was an ambitious person. I used to want Firman to compete for the throne, but now I knew that Firman and I were nothing in this palace. It was already a blessing that we got to live.
Dejected, I returned to the main hall alone and looked out the window absent¬mindedly.
While I felt panicked, a voice told me not to be afraid. If anything I dreaded happened, I would already be in trouble.
Many days passed without any changes. Things must be fine, I kept telling myself.
One day, things were uneventful as usual, until there was a knock on the doorâ¦
