Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 293
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
Even after Shawn left in a huff, Warren was still getting an earful from his father. I figured that he wouldnât be able to get rid of his father anytime soon.
Eventually, Flora, Harry, and I decided to leave Warren behind and go back to school first.
We settled down in a cafe to discuss the competition.
Although joining the selection was voluntary, it was estimated that there was going to be a lot of applicants.
Flora took out a small notebook and started scribbling on it. She jotted down the names of all the people in Class A. Then she analyzed the list carefully and crossed out names one by one.
Harry propped his head on his hand and took a sip of his juice dejectedly. âItâs not going to be easy. All the competitors have to fight one-on-one. Only the top six will be qualified to enter the forbidden forest. So few! What if the referee makes the wrong call? Or what if Flora and I end up in the same set? Should I let her win orââ
Before Harry could finish his sentence, Flora bonked him on the head.
âYou donât need to let me win, you dummy. Iâll defeat you with my own strength! Besides, the names will be drawn randomly. The referees are from the military, so I doubt they will tamper with the names.â
Harry rubbed his bruised head with one hand, scowling unhappily. âYou couldâve just said so. I donât know how Warren tolerates you.â
Flora blew her fist and shot him a fierce glare before Harry obediently fell silent.
The more we discussed, the more I began to worry about the competition. As Harry mentioned, there were only six places thatâd make it to the finals. There were simply too many uncontrollable factors and unforeseeable circumstances. I could fail utterly if I took one wrong step. Even the final six people would have to enter the forbidden forest and return with the blue cornflower before they formally passed the test.
The competition would start with activities in the outermost circle of the forbidden forest. Beforehand, this area would be cleared up to ensure the safety of the contestants. However, the ever-changing nature of the forbidden forest was outside human control.
âSylvia, donât worry. Together, weâll figure out how you can get first place.â Flora patted me on the shoulder, jolting me back to reality.
âYeah. Iâve made up my mind. If we end up in the same set, Iâll just quit. That way, you can save your strength for the other contestants.â Harry smiled brightly. âIâll do anything for my friend!â
âMe, too. Me, too. And even if I tried, I wouldnât stand a chance against you.â Flora raised her hand and echoed Harryâs sentiments.
âBut what about Warren? Heâs so strongâ¦â Harry scratched his head hesitantly.
âWhatâre you talking about? Warren will definitely quit too if he goes up against Sylvia!â Flora said with certainty, sipping from her coffee with a firm expression.
But this meant that if we ended up in the same set in the first few rounds and they just gave up, they would lose their chance to enter the elite team.
I looked at them guiltily and couldnât help but feel bad. âWe agreed to join the army together. I donât want toâ¦â
âDonât worry, Sylvia.â Harry interrupted me with a serious look on his face. âThings are different now. Iâll be able to join the army sooner or later. Thereâs no rush.â
âHeâs right, Sylvia. Plus, Iâm not that strong, so I doubt Iâll win anyway. Maybe Iâll be disqualified before I even meet you.â Floraâs eyes twinkled with excitement. âYou donât have to worry about us, okay? Weâve got your back. You just need to focus on winning the competition.â
âEven if you fail, weâll fight for you!â Harry puffed out his chest.
Seeing the determination in my friendsâ eyes, tears welled up in mine. I was so lucky to have such good friends! It didnât take long before I couldnât hold my emotions back anymore and burst into tears. All the frustrations that were pent up inside me were finally vented.
âWhat⦠Whatâs the matter with you? Donât cry, Sylvia!â Harry handed me some tissue hurriedly, unsure what to say.
Flora dabbed my tears away while glaring at Harry. âWhyâd you have to say that? Sylviaâs not going to lose!â
Sniffling, I said softly, âIâve been depressed for a long time, so I couldnât help but cry when I heard how supportive you guys are. Iâm just so glad that we met and became friends.â
Now, it was Floraâs turn to cry. Tears in her eyes, she sobbed, âIâm happy we became friends, too!â
âCome on, you guys!â Harryâs eyes turned red, too. âNow Iâm going to cry.â
He opened his mouth as though he was going to burst into sobs the next seconds. However, Flora quickly covered his mouth and changed the topic.
âNow the problem is the other contestants. There are other volunteers in Class A whose comprehensive ranking is higher than ours, like that strong guy, Tom, and that mysterious guy, John. Theyâve signed up for the selection as well.â
