Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 654
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
I was so terrified that I started shaking. The monstrous fear swaddled me, making it difficult for me to draw in a full breath. Fortunately, the black thorn only grew slightly before it stopped.
âWhatâs wrong?â Rufus turned his head and asked.
I reflexively hid the reason from him. âNo, nothingâ¦â
âNothing changed?â He looked a little perplexed. âDo you want to try again? With a little more b***d?â
âNo! Thereâs no need!â I was so agitated that I refused without a second thought.
Rufus was startled and spun around instantly. âWhatâs wrong? Is the change bad?â he asked in a worried voice as he placed his hand on my forehead. âSylvia, are you alright?â
Realizing that I was behaving erratically, I took a small step back. âIâm fine.â
âReally?â His eyes narrowed as he watched me suspiciously.
I pretended to be unaffected and gave him a smile. âI think I was just hallucinating right now. My b***d doesnât work, so I guess this is not Noreenâs curse.â
âNo, Sylvia, youâre not telling the truth.â Rufus didnât believe me. His eyebrows furrowed and he stud*ied my face carefully.
I inhaled deeply and said, âFine, Iâll tell you the truth. I didnât sleep a wink last night, so I feel a little woozy- right now.â
I could see Rufus trying to rein in his temper. He picked me up and placed me on the bed in the lounge. âClose your eyes and sleep now.â
Honestly, I wasnât sleepy at all. But when I saw Rufus â thunderous expression, I didnât dare to argue with him. So, I had no choice but to obed*iently close my eyes.
âAll right, all right. Iâm going to sleep. You carry on with your work.â
âIâm not leaving until you fall asleep.â He caressed my face and cajoled me. âJust take a good nap and you will feel much better.â
I nodded and my b*ody gradually relaxed. In his presence, I soon drifted off to sleep.
Noon had arrived by the time I woke up. After grabbing lunch with Rufus, I rushed to the royal library. I had to admit that sleep certainly had a ther@peutic effect. My nerves had eased considerably after my nap, but the worry still niggled at me.
The thorn on Rufusâ back was slowly corroding his b***d and bones. I had to find the relevant information about the curse before the thorn was completely formed.
As soon as I arrived at the library, I began to search for information about black thorns, but had no success.
Just as there were no two same leaves in the world, there were also no two same black thorns. Everything was shrouded in mystery, and I couldnât find a single lead.
Noreen appeared and disappeared with no explanation. If I hadnât randomly landed up at her lab, I feared that she wouldnât even have been on my radar right now.
If Noreen decided she wanted to stay hidden from us, she would definitely conceal her whereabouts thoroughly.
When the curse on Rufusâ back did finally attack him, he would be utterly helpless. Desperation overwhelmed me for a moment. Standing in front of a bookshelf, I was lost in thought.
While I was zoned out, someone bumped into me, snapping me back to the present. The books in my hands fell to the floor and scattered. A female student had walked into me. She hurriedly bent down to gather the books for me. âIâm sorry. I didnât see you.â
âItâs okay. I was in the way.â I shot her an unbothered smile and crouched down to help her collect the books.
The girl picked up the last book and placed it in my arms. She smiled brightly at me and said, âBe careful next time.â
âThank you.â I nodded to her.
The interaction was very short. I walked back with the books, only to notice a letter between the two of them. My name was written on the envelope.
I instantly recognized Noreenâs handwriting, having seen it before in her lab. That meant the girl was Noreen!
Without a secondâs delay, I spun around and ran as fast as I could, trying to catch up to her.
