Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 713
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
Rufus turned around and his eyes lit up as soon as he saw me. He scampered towards me and enfolded me in his arms in relief. âIf I still couldnât find you, I wouldâve blown this mountain up.â
I inhaled his scent and rubbed my chin against his shoulder. âDonât worry. Iâm not hurt.â
Rufus gently pushed me away from him to take a good look at me. He touched my face and inspected my body up and down, and concern was visible in his eyes as he did so. âDid Noreen take you away?â
I nodded and honestly said, âYes, she did. But she didnât hurt me.â
His brows furrowed. The fact that Noreen took me away displeased him and it was obvious in his tone of voice as he replied, âI donât think I can let you stay with Alina alone anymore.â
âYouâve found out about that already?â My jaw dropped in surprise.
Rufus bobbed his head, his eyes mirroring the intent to be violent. âI just donât think that was a mere coincidence.â
âAlina seemed to have made some deal with Noreen, but I donât know what exactly it is. And something makes me wonder, why did Leonardâs soldiers attack each other?â I sighed and held his arm, hoping to grasp a sense of security.
âIt must be Noreenâs trick. When we passed by this place, white smoke was pumped out, clouding the area. I think thatâs what affected the soldiers and urged them to assault one another.â
Rufus briefly told me what had happened. He assured me that he had contacted the army of the pack and that they would come to deal with the aftermath soon. That news relieved a knot inside me.
Then a thought hit me. I hesitated for a while, but I knew that I wouldnât know unless I asked. I faced Rufus seriously and questioned him. âHave you, by any chance, already known that Leonard is my father?â
His eyes widened in shock, his jaw hanging open. He raised his thick eyebrows and asked in return, âHow did you know?â
Without directly receiving a definite response, I was certain what he meant.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â I let go of his arm and bit my lips, disappointment slowly invading my system.
I entertained a subconscious hunch that he had known it long before I had but kept his lips tightly sealed.
Rufus sighed. He cupped my face and gazed at me with affectionate eyes. âIt was Leonard who asked me not to tell you. He wanted to be the one to tell you in person, tonight.â
âReally?â I pouted and looked up at him. Although I was still despondent, he managed to convince me.
âIâm telling you the truth. It hasnât been that long since we knew about it. It was literally before Alinaâs wedding. He wanted to tell you himself after the ceremony.â He bestowed a k**s on my lips to appease me. âDonât be upset, baby. I didnât mean to hide it from you.â
He succeeded in pacifying me. I looked into his eyes and nodded before reaching for his hand. âI see. Itâs not your fault.â
In all honesty, I was very happy to know that Leonard was my biological father. Especially when I got to know what kind of person he was, I was indescribably excited. I wished I knew it sooner.
The best part was Leonard actually wanted me as his daughter! I really wanted to dance and scream, but that would probably make me look like a lunatic.
Rufus seemed to have seen right through me. He ruffled my hair dotingly and said softly, âLetâs clean this mess up and go back to see Leonard.â
âOkay!â The energy that was drained from me got recharged. After sending this group of soldiers back safely, I would see my father! That thought alone got me thrilled.
Rufus glanced at the ground and asked curiously, âWhy is there a scarecrow?â
I followed his gaze. âOh, isnât that Noreenâs dummy?â
After I walked out of the stone chamber, the illusion and the scarecrow both disappeared. It was as if it purposefully deactivated after I exited. But why did the scarecrow appear again all of a sudden?
I remembered Noreen telling me that her real body was in another place, and it struck me like lightning. I thought hard of where she was last seen. When it came to me, my palms were sweating and my heart was banging against my chest.
It was in Leonardâs place!
âDamn it! Leonardâs in danger! Letâs go back!â My heart was beating loudly as fear engulfed me. I tugged Rufusâ hand, urging him to run with me. We transformed into our wolf form and darted away.
I hoped I was wrong and Leonard was just fine.
