Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 721
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Rufusâ POV:
My heart clenched painfully as I held Sylvia, who was on the verge of breaking down, in my arms.
The doctorâs words ran through my mind. The good news was that Sylvia was pregnant, but the bad news was that the fetus was weak. Keeping this baby might be difficult. She had to be careful.
I sighed, wrapped my arms around her tightly, and rubbed her back to comfort her.
After a while, she finally calmed down. My body sagged with relief and I dried her face with a handkerchief.
The crying seemed to have exhausted Sylvia. She just let me do what I wanted and stared blankly out of the window.
âDo you want to sleep for a while?â I asked her softly.
She shook her head.
âHow about you eat something?â I suggested tenderly.
She shook her head again.
I turned her face toward me and looked at her seriously. âListen, Sylvia. You havenât eaten anything all day. You need to put something in your stomach. You have someone else to take care of now too.â
Sylvia had a stunned expression on her face when she registered what I said. She touched her flat belly in wonder again.
I placed my hand on top of hers and said, âAfter Leonardâs death, in a certain sense, this baby is a new hope for us. So try to be positive, Sylvia.â
She nodded, tears welling up in her eyes again.
I heaved a sigh of relief and asked an attendant to bring over the nutritious soup that was healthy for pregnant women.
I fed this soup to Sylvia patiently.
She ate robotically like a delicate but soulless puppet. However, after a few sips, tears dripped down her cheeks and splashed into the soup.
I kissed them away and stayed quiet. I knew that she needed my silent companionship the most now. The seconds ticked by slowlyâ¦
Relief coursed through my veins when I saw that she had finished most of her soup. She had got a little color in her cheeks after eating.
I wiped her lips with a tissue and gave her the details about what had occurred over the past couple of days.
âAlina has spent day and night beside Leonardâs corpse for the past two days. She doesnât even leave the room.â
Sylvia paused and looked up at me. âShe doesnât eat, drink, or sleep at all?â
I shook my head. âI donât know. The servant had left food at the door of the room, but Iâve heard that Alina didnât touch it at all.â
âWhy didnât I see this daughterly affection before Leonard passed away? Why does she pretend to love him so much now?â Sylvia sneered, icy disdain dripping from her voice.
This was the first time I had seen Sylvia be so resentful toward anyone. It looked like this timeâs events had truly made her despise Alina deeply.
After all, Alina was the one who had colluded with Noreen to kidnap her. Perhaps Alina only wanted to hurt Sylvia. But she didnât expect that all the pack members would go to save Sylvia, leaving an opening for Noreen to kill Leonard.
âLeonardâs funeral is going to be held tomorrow.â I sighed.
Sylviaâs eyes fell to the floor and she remained quiet.
I knew what was making her unhappy. I cupped her face and gave her an earnest look. âDo you want to pay your respects to Leonard and say goodbye to him?â
She nodded and said softly, âYes, I want to see him. I want to talk to him alone. But Alina wonât let me see him. She knows who I am now.â
âHow did she find out?â I was a little taken aback. This was supposed to be a secret. If I hadnât discovered Edwinâs deception, I was certain I wouldnât know the truth about Sylviaâs paternal connection right now.
Leonard and Edwin shouldnât have revealed the truth to Alina first.
âI donât know. Maybe she has spies in the pack.â Sylvia looked confused. After pondering about it for a while, she said in an uneasy voice, âAlina said that Leonard didnât want to recognize me as his daughter at all.â
âThatâs impossible,â I retorted without hesitation. I was seething that Alina had cooked up a lie. âWhen Leonard discovered that youâre his biological daughter, he nearly went crazy with joy. There is zero doubt that he loves you. He wanted to tell you the truth after Alinaâs wedding, but now he doesnât have the chance anymore.â
I sighed helplessly. No one could predict what would happen in life. Life itself was so much more fragile than we could imagine.
Sylvia pursed her lips, her tears threatening to spill over.
I hurried to comfort her. âIâll take you to see Leonard tonight.â
Sylvia gulped hard and asked, âWhat about Alina? She will stop us.â
âDonât worry. Iâll take care of it.â
