Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 732
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
âAlina wants to take over the position of Alpha? I didnât see that coming. When Leonard was still alive, he specifically said that he wanted Warren to be his successor.â I slowly put down the cup on the table as dread and apprehension filled my heart. Leonardâs death had brought in a lot of changes.
Rufus nodded, adding an ice cube to the coffee. After taking a sip, he said, âLeonard didnât leave anything in writing before his death and now Alina wants the position for herself. She contacted some of the elders of the pack in private and managed to gain their support. Her claim for the position is legit.â
My head started spinning and dizziness overcame me. I had no idea that Alina had secretly planned a campaign in just a few days. However, it didnât surprise me because it was natural for her to pave the way for her future.
I sighed, expressing concern with my eyes, âWhat about Warren? What does he have to say about it? He didnât look so good when I saw him earlier today.â
I felt sorry for him when I remembered the scene of him crying at the funeral.
âWarren didnât want it in the first place, so when Alina proposed to take over the position of the Alpha, he readily agreed,â Rufus said lightly.
âI knew it.â
I leaned against the bar counter, supporting my chin in one hand. I wasnât surprised by Warrenâs decision. After all, he was never obsessed with power. Perhaps letting it go was best for him.
âBut Alina is not suitable for that position. Iâm afraid that the pack will fall into internal strife in the future if she becomes the Alpha,â Rufus said coldly.
I tilted my head and thought for a while. âMaybe not. With the help of Warren and Edwin, the pack should be okay.â
Even if something really happened, as an outsider, I didnât think it was my place to interfere.
I couldnât help but sigh. âLetâs wait and see what will happen first.â
âDonât you find it strange?â Rufus looked at me seriously.
âWhatâs strange?â I looked at him with confusion.
âIsnât it strange how Alina stands to gain the most from all of this? Is it possible that she killed Leonard for her benefit?â Rufus asked seriously, grasping me by the chin.
I stared at him with furrowed eyebrows, finding myself at a loss for words. âWhat are you saying? But, Leonard loved her so much? Alina might be greedy, but she wouldnât kill her father.â
Although what Rufus said made perfect sense to me, I simply couldnât bring myself to believe that Alina could be so heartless. No matter how evil a person was, no one would cross a line of such severity. I honestly believed that Alina was no exception.
Without conscious thought, I denied Rufusâ conjecture.
Rufus sighed, letting go of my hand, and said, âForget it. Letâs keep investigating.â
I nodded in response, before adding, âI wonât be attending Alinaâs Alpha Ceremony. As you know, Alina and I are never friends. Anyway, weâd better go back. I donât want to stay here any longer.â
I could still feel Leonard everywhere I turned, and I feared that if I stayed too long, I wouldnât be able to pull myself out of the abyss of sadness.
Rufus had no objection. He nodded and then called someone on his phone to arrange tomorrowâs schedule.
I called Flora to say goodbye and inform her that I would be heading back to the capital tomorrow.
Flora didnât sound too happy and after muttering to herself for a while, she finally made up her mind.
âIâm sorry, Sylvia. I canât go back to the capital with you right now. Warren isnât doing very well. Iâm going to stay back and help him out with what he needs. You know, Leonard was like a father to him.â
