Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 79
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Rufusâ POV:
Sylviaâs hands were cold. I frowned and clasped her palm tightly, hoping the warmth of my skin would seep into her body and make her feel better. She didnât know how to take care of herself. The wind was strong outside, but she was only wearing a thin coat.
She was lowering her head the entire time, like a scared turtle, ready to retreat to its shell at any time. Looking at her fluffy head, I felt a little helpless. âWhy was she so afraid of me?â She didnât even dare to look me in the eye.
âChest out. Donât hunch. Look straight ahead. Your gaze shouldnât drop to the floor,â I said in a low voice.
But Sylvia didnât respond. She was absentminded the entire time. She didnât return to her senses until I gently nudged her.
I didnât say anything. I gently wrapped my arm around her waist and said, âRaise your foot.â
Sylvia was in a daze the entire time. She responded to me slowly like a puppet. I pursed my lips and looked at her, feeling unhappy. It seemed like she didnât want to stay with me.
Her cursory behavior made me think she didnât want to attend the ball with me.
Finally, I lost my patience. âIf you donât want to learn, you donât have to force yourself.â
Seeing that I was angry, Sylvia looked up at me, panic and fear evident in her eyes. âItâs not that I donât want to learnâ¦â
Only then did I notice that her face was pale, and beads of sweat had covered her forehead.
My heart sank. âAre you feeling uncomfortable?â
âNothing. Itâs just a little hot.â She averted her gaze and held my hand, gesturing for me to teach her. I had an inkling that she was trying to hide something.
I grabbed her hand and stared into her eyes. âSylvia, I know you are lying. Are you hiding something from me?â
âNo, please donât ask. Letâs continue,â Sylvia croaked, dropping her gaze to the floor.
Anger bubbled up within me. âAll right. Iâm not going to continue until you tell me the truth. I have this whole night to spare anyway.â
âNo, I have to go back to the dorm before nine!â Sylvia grabbed my sleeve and pouted at me.
I snorted and looked at her. Seeing her unwillingness to answer, I pushed her hand away and walked toward the door.
It looked like Sylvia wanted to follow me. But after taking a few steps, she fell to the floor and held her left leg, wincing in pain.
At that moment, all my anger disappeared. I was only anxious and worried for her. I quickly ran over to see if she was okay.
âLet me take a look at it.â
I rolled up Sylviaâs left trouser and found a thick bandage wrapped around her leg.
âI got scratched by accident. Iâll get better if I rest for a few days.â Seeing the unhappiness on my face, Sylvia withdrew her leg and explained cautiously.
âWhy would you get such a thick bandage if you only got scratched?â I narrowed my eyes and studied her face. The fact that she was hiding something irked me. I was not only mad at her but with myself as well. If I had noticed sooner that something was wrong with her, she wouldnât have endured the pain.
âItâs really just a scratch. Itâs just a small injury. It doesnât hurt much. Iâll be fine soon.â Sylvia smiled awkwardly. Her pale face was not convincing at all.
I scowled at her. She was lying to me, and I didnât want to talk to her unless I examined her wound.
âAre you angry?â Sylvia blinked innocently.
âWhat a heartless guy!â I thought to myself.
I reached out to untie the bandage to check her wound, but she covered it with her hands, stopping me from seeing it.
Her action ignited the fury in my heart. I gripped her hand and looked at her. âDonât move!â
Seeing that I was unhappy, Sylvia withdrew her hands.
I untied the bandage on Sylviaâs leg slowly, and her swollen skin came to view. My hands began to tremble as I saw the big purple bruises on her leg.
