Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 797
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
âMiss Todd, itâs me,â Maya said, her voice coming from outside. âThe doctor is here.â
I pressed my lips into a thin line. I couldnât believe Rufus really asked the doctor to check on me.
Didnât he think my acting was terrible? Why did he still play along?
As I thought about that, I felt even more depressed. I covered my head with the blanket and ignored Maya completely.
She knocked on the door two more times and asked, âMiss Todd, can I open the door?â
I didnât say anything. I just pretended not to hear her.
âIâm coming in, Miss Todd,â she said when I didnât respond. Her voice sounded a little helpless.
After a while, I heard keys, followed by the sound of the door opening.
I pulled off the blanket, sat up from the bed, and gloomily looked at the door. I saw Maya come inside the room. Beside her was an amiable-looking female doctor.
The doctor greeted me with a smile before she checked up on me. The result was quite surprising.
âMiss Todd, your baby looks much more stable and stronger than before,â she said.
My heart instantly fluttered the moment I heard that. I felt so happy. âWhat else do I need to do, doc?â
âJust keep doing what youâre doing and be careful with your diet. You should keep yourself happy and try to get enough sleep.â
I listened to the doctor and kept her words in mind. Just then, something occurred to me, so I held her hand and earnestly said, âIf Rufus asks you, can you just tell him⦠like, for example, I had a stomachache because I was emotionally unstable. And even though I look healthy, Iâm actually weak and frail?â
I winked at her and tried my best to persuade her to tell Rufus that I was seriously ill.
But she just smiled and helped me lie back down on the bed. âHave a good rest, Miss Todd.â
After that, she left and took her med kit along with her. Did she even understand what I meant?
I looked down, grabbed the blanket, and heaved a sigh. âMaya, I need your help.â
Maya considerately poured me a glass of water and put it on the bedside table. âMiss Todd, you should rest first. If you need anything else, just press the bell on the bedside table, okay?â
I reached out for her hand and looked at her straight in the eye. At this point, I was willing to do anything. I was desperate for freedom. âYou donât understand. Please just help me remove the shackles, Maya. Let me out of here.â
Maya simply gave me a bitter smile. âI canât do anything about the shackles, Miss Todd. Prince Rufus is the only one who has the key to the shackles. I only have the key to this room.â
âUgh! Of course!â I slammed my hand on the bed, expressing my irritation. âRufus!â
âMiss Todd, all I ask is for you to be obedient and stay here for a while longer. When Prince Rufus calms down, Iâm sure he will let you out,â Maya helplessly replied.
âHow about I break the lock by myself and you just get me the tools?â I persuaded. I still didnât want to give up on my pursuit of freedom.
Maya took a big step back and kept away from the bed. She looked down and hesitantly shook her head. âMiss Todd, please donât make things difficult for me. If Prince Rufus finds out about it, Iâll be doomed. Iâm sure youâre aware that if heâs mad, even the Lycan King canât stop him. Heâs actually showing you mercy this time because he loves you.â
I could feel the fear in Mayaâs voice, so I didnât insist anymore and heaved another sigh. Then, I laid back down.
âMiss Todd, please donât be mad at Prince Rufus. You donât know that he has beenâ¦â
Maya abruptly stopped mid-sentence and bit her l*p. Her expression was oddly complicated.
