Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 841
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Sylviaâs POV:
âYes. I was made as the scapegoat for the whole thing.â I angrily stood from the sofa and walked to the fireplace to try and calm myself down.
âBut you didnât do anything. How can they frame you?â Maya exclaimed from behind me.
I took a deep breath and sighed. âThey probably planned this a long time ago. Rumors alone are enough to make me suffer, and they knew that.â
âWhat if those two insist that you did it?â Maya worriedly asked.
I sharply turned around and looked at her. âThen we have to stop the source of the rumor. Rufus planned to imprison and interrogate them, but now, things are getting out of hand. Thereâs no way we can stop the rumors from spreading, and people will know about these two sooner or later. If that happens, itâll be hard to explain the whole thing. Thatâs why Rufus and I decided to take them out of the palace and secretly kill them.â
âAre you sure about this?â Maya nervously replied. âThe palace is now heavily guarded. Iâm afraid itâll attract a lot of attention if you take them outside the palace.â
âRufus has a way to take them out. We have to succeed so I wonât be involved in this matter. Youâre the only one who knows this except for me and Rufus, so donât you dare leak any information.â
âDonât worry, Miss Todd. I wonât tell anyone about it. But if you need my help, please donât hesitate to ask,â Maya said as she put her thumb and index finger together and made a gesture of zipping her lips, indicating that she wouldnât tell anyone.
âI trust you, Maya. But the fewer the people involved, the safer it will be, so I wonât be needing your help for the time being. What you can do for now is keep an eye on the palace and not let any strangers inside,â I replied and looked straight into her eyes.
Maya vigorously nodded. âYes, Miss Todd!â
After a while, the rain stopped, and the room became colder.
I wrapped the shawl around me tighter and yawned. âIf you donât have anything else to say, you can go out now. I just need to rest a bit.â
âOkay, Miss Todd. Have a good rest.â Maya bowed in respect before she left.
Soon after, Rufus came back from the city hall. He put the stack of documents he brought back with him to the study and then came to the bedroom to accompany me.
I weakly nestled into his arms. âNow all we have to do is wait for the fish to take the bait.â
Rufus tucked my hair behind my ear and whispered, âIt should be something worth celebrating, you know? Why do you look so sad?â
I shook my head and sighed. I was still in a foul mood. Even though I intended to lower Mayaâs vigilance, most of what I said was true. I had always treated her as a sister.
âIs it because of Maya?â Rufus asked.
I had to admit, he was a keen observer.
I wrinkled my nose and muttered, âI hope sheâs not Maya. But I also hope she is.â
I didnât believe Maya would do anything to hurt me. But then again, if she wasnât the real Maya, then Noreen had probably already killed her before impersonating her.
As that thought crossed my mind, I began feeling even more miserable. âIf she really is Maya, can she become a good person again?â
âOf course. If sheâs the real Maya, then Noreen might just be controlling her mind and she isnât being herself. That is, weâre facing Noreen, not Maya. Weâre still not sure if Mayaâs the one who set this up, though. But if itâs really her, weâll have to lock her up first. As soon as we catch Noreen, we can cure her,â Rufus replied, trying to comfort me.
