Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 927
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Rufusâ POV:
âLet her in.â
I swallowed my anger for the time being.
The she-wolf had good timing. I wanted to ask her about something anyway.
I nudged Beryl towards the doctor and said to the latter, âTake good care of her.â
The doctor nodded respectfully.
I took one more look at the strawberry-embellished hair band in Berylâs hair with satisfaction and then stood up.
Unexpectedly, Beryl suddenly grabbed my arm, so I accidentally lifted her tiny body as I stood up.
âWow! This is fun! Higher, Higher!â Beryl probably thought I was playing with her, so she grinned at me from ear to ear.
Afraid that Iâd drop her, I quickly hugged her close to my chest and said, âI have something to deal with. Stay here.â
âNo, I want to be with Daddy.â As Beryl spoke, she wrapped her chubby arms around my neck tightly, almost choking me.
âBeryl, I canât breathe.â I struggled to say those four words and tried to pry Berylâs hands off, but when I touched her soft skin, I was worried that Iâd hurt her.
Fortunately, Beryl loosened her grip. She complained with dissatisfaction, âDaddy, why canât I go with you? And you should call me Baby Beryl, not Beryl.â
âBecause weâre going to talk about adult stuff.â
âWhat? Why? I can understand what grown-ups talk about. Daddy, do you still think Iâm stupid? Well, youâre wrong! I know grown-up words too, you know!â Beryl clung to me stubbornly. As she spoke, she even put her chubby face close to me. She smelled like a baby, which made me feel at a loss.
Beryl was too young to be scolded or grounded. Even though I tried to act serious in front of her, she would reach out her little hands and push the corners of my mouth up, forcing me to smile.
I had no choice but to look to the doctor for help, pleading at him with my eyes to take Beryl away.
âNo! I want to stay with Daddy!â Beryl was so stubborn that she threw her arms around my neck again, refusing to let the doctor take her.
âIf you donât go with the doctor, Iâll let go with you, and youâll fall. Iâll count to three.â Of course, I was just bluffing.
Unexpectedly, Beryl squeezed her eyes shut and buried her head on my shoulder. Her short legs wrapped around my waist firmly.
In the end, I had no choice but to take her downstairs.
There, I found the masked she-wolf pacing back and forth anxiously. It seemed that she was a little irritable even.
I stood at the corner and observed her quietly until the little girl asked curiously, âDaddy, whyâd you stop?â
The she-wolf seemed to hear the little girlâs voice. She looked up and trotted over briskly.
I decided to meet her halfway and walked towards the she-wolf with cool, steady steps.
For some reason, the she-wolf trembled all over when she saw me. She seemed to be very excited because she covered her mouth in disbelief, with tears in her eyes.
I frowned slightly. What was up with her? If she grew this excited at the sight of me, she mustâve been a shallow woman who, like most women I had met before, only liked my handsome face.
I snorted. When I was about to say something, the she-wolf suddenly pounced on me. She even stretched out her arms, as if trying to hug me.
What theâ?! What did she want to do? How could she be so disrespectful to the king?
I took a big step back and shouted in panic, âHow dare you!â
The she-wolf was stunned for a moment, and her eyes behind the mask showed sheer confusion. Then she dared to take another step towards me.
I took a deep breath, exasperated by her rude behavior. But, truth be told, my heart was racing in my chestâ¦
