Chapter thirty

The Snowy-haired Genius

I was in the kitchen, sitting on the bench as I watched Winter bake. His face was flushed, his hair was messy, and there was a streak of flour on his cheek, but he looked extremely proud as he pulled out the tray of cupcakes out and put them on the cooling rack. He let out a satisfied huff, putting his hands on his hips. "Well, now all I need to do is wait for these to cool down, so I can decorate them."

"What are you going to decorate them like?" I asked, jumping off the bench as he took a bowl of light pink icing out of the fridge. He smiled. "I'm thinking I could make them look like little pigs."

I wrapped my arms around him pressed my cheek against his back, sighing. Winter smacked my hand away as I reached for the icing, making me pout and move away from him. "I just wanted to taste some, Winnie."

"Winnie?" He replied, sounding amused as he squeezed some of the icing onto one of the vanilla cupcakes. "Are you going back to that?"

"Maybe I am." I got back up on the bench, still pouting. He glanced at me, then sighed and got a spoon out of the draw. He scooped some of the icing up and handed me the spoon. I smiled, pulling him in for a kiss. "I love you."

"Love you too." He replied, going back to decorating his cupcakes. I put the spoon in my mouth, licking some of the pink icing off. I moaned. "This tastes so good, Winter."

He looked over at me, his face going pale. "Don't do that." He told me, his eyes on the spoon as I put my entire mouth around it. I blinked innocently at him. "Why?" I questioned, taking the spoon out of my mouth with a 'pop!'

"Just don't." He replied, rolling his eyes. I smirked. "Why? You getting a little turned on, Winter?"

I saw him shift awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. He didn't answer my question and finished decorating his stupid cupcakes, which were getting more attention than me. "Winnie? I love you." I said as he put all his cupcakes into a plastic container with a small smile on his face. He ignored me yet again, and this time it annoyed me. When he got close enough to me, I grabbed him by the shoulders and wrapped my legs around him. "Why are you ignoring me!" I hissed at him, scowling. He chuckled, putting the container on the bench beside me. "You look like an angry kitten, Jacey. Really, you do."

I pushed him away, making him stumble. "Whatever. I'm going upstairs." I grumbled, pushing past him and deliberately knocking my shoulder against his.

"Jace, don't be like this." Winter sighed and grabbed my arm. I glared at him. He smiled and tucked some of my hair behind my ear. I smiled a little bit, blushing when he leant in to kiss me.

At that moment, Donut bounded up to us, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he pounced at me. I fell over instantly and the dog began to lick my face.

"Ew!" I shouted. "Get the fuck off me, you fucking dumb dog!" I sat up, but the dog continued to lick my face, climbing on top of me as Winter laughed so hard he could hardly breathe. "Winter, stop laughing and help!" I suddenly felt the dog's tongue in my mouth. I shrieked loudly, the sound echoing around the house. "EWW! I SAID GET OFF! HAVEN'T YOU EVER HEARD OF HYGEINE YOU DUMB, STUPID PATHETIC MUTT?"

Donut pulled away. I shuddered, wiping my face with my sleeve. The dog sat down in front of me, panting. Winter smirked at me. "You have some dog spit on your face, Jacey."

"Shut. The. Fuck. Up." I hissed at him. "I will fucking hit you."

"You swear too much." Winter replied, rolling his eyes. I stood up and glared at him again, our almost kiss forgotten. I was angry. I didn't know why, but I was really angry. I pushed him. Winter didn't react, but Donut did. He growled at me, his teeth exposed. I swallowed. "Donut, stop growling. Stop looking at me like that, dog. Seriously."

He continued to growl. I stumbled backwards and that was when he jumped at me. I screamed and turned, running as fast as I could. I ran upstairs and into Winter's bedroom, feeling the dog on my heels. "Fuck, fuck, fuck." I jumped over Winter's bed and ran back out of his bedroom, slamming the door. It didn't close properly though, and Donut was still chasing me. I got down to the front door and saw Winter standing in the middle of the room, his arms crossed.

I dove at him, wrapping my arms around his middle. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry!" I cried, hiding behind him.

"Donut, no." Winter ordered, but there was a little smile on his face. "Sit. He's sorry."

The dog instantly planted its ass on the ground. I dug my face into Winter's chest. "Please don't let it hurt me!"

"He wasn't going to hurt you. He was just trying to scare you a little. You're a good boy, Donut."

"Don't congratulate him!" I shouted, pulling away from Winter. Donut began to growl again and I rewrapped my arms around the white haired boy, squeaking in fear. "I'm sorry. I won't shout."

Winter chuckled and patted my head like I was a kitten and I tightened my grip on him. "I think you need a cupcake." He told me. I looked up at him, letting go. I crossed my arms and looked away, my face reddening. I shivered, still badly shaken up from the incident with the dog. Winter stroked my cheek. "We'll grab a cupcake and go upstairs then."

I nodded, still not catching his eye. I suddenly leant against him, my knees feeling weak. Winter sighed and gestured Victor over. "Carry him." He said, clicking his fingers. I stepped back, shaking my head. "Wha- No! I c-can walk."

"Jacey, honey, you can barely even stand right now." Winter chuckled. I pouted at him, sulking. "No. I'm not letting this oaf carry me."

"Stop being a little bitch." Victor replied, which surprised me. I opened my mouth to reply with something sarcastic, but out of the corner of my eye I saw Donut move. I gasped, holding onto Winter for dear life and squeezing my eyes tightly.

That fucking dog is going to murder me in my sleep. I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die.

"Alright, come on." Winter kissed my forehead. "I think you should just sleep right now. Dogs really scare you, don't they?" Without waiting for an answer, I heard his fingers click again. "Victor. Carry him."

"I'm not going quietly! I can walk by myself!" I protested, pulling away. Victor's big strong arms grabbed me and I shouted as he slung me over his shoulder and began to walk. "Get the fuck off me!"

"Please don't swear." Winter told me, smirking as he walked behind Victor. "I'll punish you."

I turned red and my eyes went wide. Quick as a flash, he pulled a camera out of his pocket and snapped a photo. I stuck my middle finger up at him but he got his photo anyway.

"Wait!" Winter stopped, making Victor stop as well. "I said we'd get a cupcake! Jace, let's go get a cupcake." He turned around and began walking to the kitchen. Victor turned around as well. I wriggled, trying to pull away from him but he kept a tight grip on me.

"These look good, sir." Victor told Winter. I couldn't see Winter, but by the tone of his voice I could tell he was smiling. "Thanks. They're vanilla. Remember when I made these for Darcy's birthday?"

"She loved them." Victor replied, chuckling. I kept wriggling. When we finally began to walk again, Winter was behind Victor. He held a cupcake out to me. "Want one?"

"No! Put me down!"

"Here, have one." He stood up on his tiptoes to hold a pink cupcake up to me. I refused, glaring at him.

The walk to the bedroom was a lot longer than it should have been. And a lot more embarrassing. At one point, Winter had told Victor to bounce me so I couldn't keep wriggling and shouting. It did work, but instead of my curses the house was instead filled with my shrieking every time Victor nearly dropped me.

When we finally reached the bedroom, Victor grabbed my waist and put me down on the bed. I glared up at him. He smirked at Winter. "I'll be outside, sir." He told him. Winter nodded, waving him off. "Close the door behind you."

"I could have walked, you know." I muttered. Winter smiled and leant down beside me, leaning on the edge of the bed. I rolled onto my side to look at him. "It was best if you didn't, Jacey. How about you just stay in bed for the rest of the day, 'kay?"

"Okay." I mumbled, snuggling into the blankets.
