I Love You More, Cade by Coral Hume ( Nydia and Jackson)
Chapter 30
Nydia thought this debate would last at least for hours. Unexpectedly, Alison rushed in ten minutes later, and she seemed full of joy.
Alison chimed in. âWeâve had an update about the intellectual property infringement issue. Itâs a false alarm. The plaintiff company has issued a formal apology and assured us they will be responsible for all the consequences.â With that, she added excitedly, âNow our stock price soars up and hits the daily limit!â
The conference room immediately fell into silence. However, Nydia looked like the good news failed to cheer her up.
She murmured inside, âThis is a remarkable turnaround for the Jackson Group. Its reputation was enhanced, and its popularity sustained, especially after becoming a trending topic online. I assume the company stands to recoup more than its previous losses.
âBut for me? I lost two valuable subordinates. Things are becoming increasingly challenging. The reason for the unfavorable outcome is that I disregarded Cadeâs warning and engaged in conversation twice with another man whom I barely knew. Itâs absurd. Bentley and I exchanged less than ten sentences. Yet, because of that, I faced a harsh punishment. What is waiting for me next time?â
A sense of powerlessness and depression engulfed Nydia. She did not know how she left the conference room and returned to her office. She even did not notice Cade standing right in front of her.
Nydia walked into her office and slammed the door.
Cadeâs expression darkened.
Alison touched her nose to cover the embarrassment and said, âMr. Jackson, do you have anything to ask Ms. Sharp? Iâd be happy to relay it to her.â
Cade questioned coldly, âDidnât she see the result?â
Alison was stunned. She composed herself swiftly and responded hurriedly, âYes, she saw it. I released the news to Ms. Sharp and the shareholders in the conference room.â
Cade frowned and wondered, âCould it be the shareholdersâ harsh criticisms? But theyâve been saying the same things for years. Nydia usually takes it in stride. Whatâs different this time? With a hint of disdain, he sneered and thought, âAttempting to revive the Sharp Group with such feeble resilience and mindset? Itâs nothing more or less than a foolish fantasy!
Nydia remained in her office until around 5 p.m. She didnât feel hungry even though she had not eaten all day.
Veronica had been out of touch for over a month. However, she called Nydia that day and provided Nydia with an address
and room number.
Nydia felt upset, thinking, âWell, maybe Iâll feel better after talking with Veronica. With that in mind, she headed home to freshen up. She removed her makeup, changed into a casual and classic skirt set, and tied her seaweedâlike hair with a

pinkishâgrey ribbon. After that, she looked like a sweet and pure girl, emitting a youthful glow.
Nydia looked at herself in the mirror and felt strange. After all, she had been Mrs. Jackson for five years, and the Jackson familyâs emphasis on gracefulness had become ingrained in her psyche. She believed she had grown accustomed to conducting herself with decorum. However, at this moment, she realized she preferred to be herself. She enjoyed the freedom to dress and go wherever her heart desired.
The night descended dark, and the lights flickered to life, illuminating the surroundings.
The lights from one location cascaded like streams, casting their glow throughout over 100 feet. Men and women dressed in their finest attire stepped out of their fancy cars and flocked to the origin of the illumination â the Imperiacy Club.
Nydia arrived at the club first and went to the preserved room. As usual, she ordered some wine and waited for Veronica.
Ten minutes later, Veronica pushed the door open and entered. She covered herself with a peaked cap, sunglasses, a mask, and a turtle neck overcoat.
Nydia commented inside, âOf course, being a celebrity, Veronica has to keep her presence here a secret.
âHoly crap! What happened to your hands?â Before sitting down, Veronica spotted Nydiaâs wounds. She rushed to Nydia and checked Nydiaâs wounds worriedly.
Nydia grinned and replied, âItâs okay. Just scratches.â
Veronica did not buy it. She asked, âWhat can scratch your hands like that? Those are deep cuts.â
âDonât worry. Theyâll heal in just a few days.â Nydia pulled Veronica to the sofa and changed the topic. âI thought your job was shooting a commercial. What ended up keeping you so occupied, for this long?â

Veronica sighed in frustration and complained, âOur boss must be out of his mind. He was adamant about filming in a desolate location. He said only shooting in a dry place could capture the essence of enjoying a beer.â
Nydia poured a glass of wine and handed it to Veronica, asking, âWas there dry like a desert?â
Veronica replied, âIt was as humid as a rainforest there. Especially after continuous rainstorms for a week!â Her words amused Nydia so much that Nydia almost spilled the wine in her glass.
Veronica raised her head and gulped down the wine, saying, âIâve experienced abstinence for a month. Iâm sick of that life and need a crazy party tonight.â
Nydia chuckled and poured another glass for Veronica, teasingly asking, âYour fans affectionately call you the âsweet girlâ and âromantic soldier. Do you ever feel like youâre betraying their expectations?â
Veronica removed her coat, raised her glass, and downed the wine in one gulp. Then, she responded, âNot at all. Theyâre telling the truth.â
Nydia said, âWhat a thick skin. Impressive.â With that, she sat back on the sofa.
Veronica stared at Nydia for seconds and said, âTsk, tsk. Look at your slim waist. By the way, your boobs seem larger than before. Cade does have something, huh?â Nydiaâs happiness faded when she heard that name.

Veronica sensed something was wrong. Thus, she put down her glass, reached out to hold Nydiaâs shoulder, and asked, âWhatâs wrong? You texted me saying you and Cade finally slept together I thought things were heating up between you twoâ Nydia shook her head and briefly told everything about Josephine.
Veronica was irritated and screamed, âDamn it! Josephine works at the Jackson Group now? And she attended Orionâs party? I heard nothing about those until now!â

Nydia shrugged and replied, âOrson is an action person. If he catches wind of any hint of scandal in the media, heâll stop it
Iâm not surprisedâ
Veronica sighed and said. âThat makes sense Soon, she asked, âWait. Then what is Cade thinking? Why did he sleep with you if he loves Josephine so much that he wants to be with her every minute?â
âHow can I read his mind?â Nydia replied, frowning deeply. âI feel like heâs been getting crazier lately. Heâs been insulting me in various ways. This isnât like him at all in her thoughts, she added. He couldnât even be bothered to look at me in the
past
Veronica asked further, âWhat do you mean by insulting you? Tell me more.
Nydia told the rest to Veronica and finished the story She deliberately omitted the part where Cade pushed her down, resulting in her concussion and bleeding ears. She knew that if she were to include that detail, Veronica would immediately rush to confront Cade and likely punch him.
The Carlson family was considered wealthy in Creekheim but paled in comparison to the stature of the Jackson family. Offending Cade could spell the demise not only for Veronica but also for the entire Carlson family
Veronica nodded and agreed, saying. âThat sounds insaneâ However, she suddenly widened her eyes as if she realized something incredible She stared at Nydia and asked, âDid Cade fall for you?â
Nydia was shocked by Veronicaâs baseless question and cried. Falling for me? How is that possible? You wouldnât have such thoughts if you heard how he insulted meâ A rush of distressing memories flooded her mind, and she wondered if Veronica had lost her sanity
Veronica explained. âYou know Men often hesitate to admit their feelings, and Cade is one of them.â
Nydia did not know what to reply
Veronica continued. âIf Cade doesnât like you, why did he get mad at you and punish you because you talked to Bentley?â
Nydia frowned and looked at Veronica in disbelief, saying. âHave the rainstorms washed away some of your brain cells? Cade got mad at me because he feared Bentley might use me to sabotage the Jackson Groupâs business.â
Veronica replied, âReally? But I remember the Jackson and the Wiley family are not competitors.â
