Nydia asked worriedly, “Is everything okay with Veronica?”

Walter turned around to glance at his sister’s legs, which were held in the air. Based on what Veronica had said, he frowned and concluded, “She probably practiced dancing too hard and ended up hurting herself.”

Nydia repeated, “Practiced dancing?” She wondered, ‘Since when did Veronica have such a hobby?”

“Yeah.” Walter could not help but laugh. “Maybe she’s trying to change her career path to be a dancer.”

Veronica heard Walter’s sarcasm and roared in anger, “Cade Jackson! I’ll show you the price for what you’ve done to me!”

Nydia was stunned, thinking, “When did Cade Veronica have a conflict? Suddenly, an assumption crossed her mind. She pondered, ‘Did something happen after I got drunk last night?”

When she was about to ask further, she heard Veronica’s father say, “Veronica, I know you have the guts to offend everyone, but please stop!“.

Veronica raised her voice. “Dad, why are you such a loser? Why can’t you be richer than Cade?” Walter was so scared that he immediately cut off the phone.

Nydia stood there, holding her phone, feeling thoroughly confused and dazed. A while later, she muttered, “I suppose I’ll need to pay Veronica a visit after my business trip.”

Mewarting City was a completely new city to Nydia. Although it was near Creekheim, she had never been there before.

It was eight o’clock in the evening after the three–hour flight ended,

The clients appeared sincere and invited Nydia for dinner, which surprised Nydia.

Nydia returned to the hotel to change her clothes and apply exquisite makeup to demonstrate her sincerity for cooperation. The clients sent two females to the dinner. Nydia had a great time chatting with them, so she gladly accepted the invitation

to a club.

Unexpectedly, the two females introduced Nydia to three overweight men and explained they were their bosses.

Nydia felt uncomfortable when she received those men’s gazes, considering, However, those are the men in charge. I guess I have no other choice but to continue the business talking‘

“Mr. Walton, do you have any concerns about this project? Feel free to bring them up to me. I’ll do my best to ensure we optimize the benefits for you.” With that, she poured a glass of wine for Joe Walton. When she leaned forward slightly to pour, her skirt accentuated her curves.

Joe stared at Nydia’s waist and moved his gaze up. He swallowed to control himself when he captured Nydia’s ample bosom and stunning features.

“Miss Sharp, is this your first time in Mewarting City?” Joe asked, his eyes revealing his strong desires.

Nydia felt disgusted by Joe’s gaze. She pondered, They probably don’t know who I am since they call me Miss Sharp. Is this why they are fearless? But I’m the only one with that last name and can represent the Jackson Group. Can’t they take a

hint?‘

Nydia fought back her nausea and sat back on the sofa. She smiled and replied, “Yes, it’s my first time here. Mewarting City is much warmer than Creekheim.”

Joe said, “Yeah, that’s true. Miss Sharp, please feel free to remove your coat since it’s getting hot here.” He sat closer to Nydia and fixed his gaze on Nydia’s chest.

Nydia’s smile grew colder. She suggested, “Mr. Walton, let’s focus on the merger and acquisition.”

Joe replied, “No rush.” With that, he grabbed Nydia’s wrist. The smooth feeling drove his desires stronger. “We’ll talk about the business later.”

Nydia instantly raised her hand and slapped Joe’s face, saying, “Mr. Walton, you sound like you were drunk. I hope my slap

can sober you up.”

Nydia’s slap silenced the room.

The two men next to Joe reacted and cursed. “Bitch, how dare you?” “Do you still want to step out of this room alive?”

Nydia was startled but managed to keep the composed expression. “I am Cade Jackson’s wife. Is this your attitude to negotiate with me? Aren’t you scared to offend Cade?”

Upon hearing that, the three men laughed as if they had heard something hilarious. One retorted, “You just have that title. Do you really think you’re Mrs. Jackson? If Cade cares about you, why would he send you to negotiate with us?”

Nydia’s face turned pale. She thought, ‘They know everything about me. It seems that this is Josephine’s other setup.

Nydia replied, “So, you all know who I am.” She looked around when speaking and pondered, “They probably thought it would be easy to deal with me, so they didn’t bring other men with them. Great. That gives me a chance to escape‘

She chuckled and continued, “In that case, please don’t get too hard on me.” With that, she reached out her smooth hand to grab the bottle of red wine on the table, pretending to pour a glass for each of them.

The three men were satisfied and relieved to see that Nydia gave in.

Joe smiled creepily and said, “Relax. I promise I’ll show some mercy to you.” He walked toward Nydia with an empty glass and added, “I enjoy being slapped by you. I got all adrenalized just now.”

“Oh, yeah?” Nydia smiled seductively and replied, “Then I’ll give you another surge of adrenaline.” With that, she flashed a determined look and slammed the wine bottle on Joe’s head.

That strike broke Joe’s head and caused him to fall onto the ground with a yell of pain.

Nydia darted out the door so fast that she was gone before the other two men realized what had happened. They stomped in fury and shouted. “Bitch, stop right there!” “Call for backup! I’m going to make that bitch pay for her actions tonight!”

Chapter 35

Nydia sprinted through the corridors with all her might and bumped into numerous people because she wore high heels. She did not apologize since staying alive was the priority right now.

However, when Nydia reached the first floor, she discovered that the men’s accomplices had blocked the entrance. She immediately changed her routine and ran into the bathroom.

With trembling hands, she pulled out her phone. She did not feel scared when she attacked Joe moments ago, but now, as she calmed down, fear began to creep in.

She thought, ‘They know who I am, so they’re not worried that hurting me will offend Cade. Besides, Josephine will definitely make things worse for me. I guess I can’t escape from this trap tonight. She stared at the number on the screen, her hand shaking severely.

She wondered, Will Cade come and rescue me if I ask him for help?”

When she was about to make a call, that man’s words suddenly flashed through her mind. “If Cade cares about you, why would he send you to negotiate with us?”

She murmured inside, ‘That’s well said. Cade knew who these guys were, yet sent me to meet them alone. He was doing so to keep Josephine away from danger. How would he care about me?‘

Nydia sneered when she thought of that. She stared at that string of numbers until her tears blurred her vision.

“Check over there!” A man’s voice sounded outside. He sounded like he was the man with Joe.

Nydia immediately wiped out her tears and was about to run outside.

Suddenly, someone grabbed her shoulder.

Nydia was so scared that she almost screamed.

“shush.” A soft voice sounded behind her.

Nydia immediately turned around and saw Bentley’s gentle face.

Bentley pushed Nydia into the room behind them. The moment he closed the door, Joe’s people passed by. Nydia realized that the thin door was the only barrier between her and those men, so she covered her mouth to ensure she would not

make a sound.

She could not hear what Bentley said to those men, but she heard them apologize respectfully and leave immediately.

Nydia heaved a sigh of relief when she relieved those men had left. Suddenly, from the corner of her eye, she noticed something on the sofa moved. It sent a chill down her spine. She leaned against the door, clenched her hands into fists, and looked over warily.
