“Well, who cares anyway? Can I even hope to have a good impression on him still?‘ thought Nydia.

After that, she didn’t say a word and couldn’t listen to what Cade was saying to Orson.

When the dinner was about to end, her stomach suddenly ached fiercely, making her face pale within seconds.

Based on the level of pain and frequency, Nydia immediately knew that her period was coming.

Every time her period came, Nydia felt like she was in excruciating pain.

‘It should come one week later. How come it’s early this time?” she wondered.

With Orson present, Nydia wanted to hold it in until he left but couldn’t even last a few seconds.

It hurt like hell.

“Orson, you go ahead. I’m feeling a bit unwell.” Nydia shivered slightly, struggling to stand up. She couldn’t even force a smile. “I’ll go upstairs and rest for a bit.”

Cade turned to look at her and saw that her face was indeed pale, with tiny beads of sweat already forming on her forehead.

As soon as Orson saw the situation, he said to Dara, “Quick, help Nydia up.”

With that, he turned to Cade. “Call the family doctor.”

Nydia quickly refused, “Orson, no need for a doctor. I’ll just take a painkiller.”

Orson was taken aback momentarily before realizing what was happening. His expression, was quite subtle, but he still showed concem and said, “Alright, just remember to you need anything, okay?”

Nydia nodded and went upstairs with Dara’s help..

Only Cade and Orson were left in the dining room at this moment.

Their few sexes were only impulsive reactions. There was no time for precautions.

He never even asked that woman to take any pills; as for why, he just couldn’t be bothered to spend another second with her.

When Orson suddenly asked this question tonight, he noticed that she actually didn’t show. any signs of being pregnant at all.

“You’re 27 now. It’s time to have a baby. When I was your age, Troy was born.” It sounded like a casual conversation, but Orson’s tone was solemn, more like an order one couldn’t refuse.

It was unknown if Cade actually listened. He didn’t show any expression the whole time.

Nydia’s period was really heavy this time. The pain also increased.

She couldn’t take it anymore and took one more ibuprofen tablet.

Dara was so scared and kept yelling, “Mrs. Nydia, taking so many pills will cause problems.”

Nydia was shivering under the covers; she didn’t want to take so many pills, but her period. was torturing her like crazy.

Seeing her like this, Dara immediately asked, “Mrs. Nydia, you don’t have a fever, do you? Do you have a thermometer here? I need to measure your temperature right away.”

“It’s in the drawer,” Nydia stuck her head out and glanced at the bedside table on the right.

Dara got

it and hurried over to open the drawer.

“Mrs. Nydia, where is it?” Dara kept flipping things around. Instead of finding the thermometer, she saw a board of white pills.

She almost immediately recognized it was the birth control pill.

She held onto it, looking incredulously at the four empty spots, then glancing at Nydia’s back. “Mrs. Nydia, your period definitely came early because of this.”

As Cade was about to step inside, he heard Dara exclaim in surprise.

He was leaning against the door frame, with his head slightly turned, and he saw Dara holding a packet of medicine in her hand.

When Nydia turned around and saw what Dara was holding, she just calmly responded,

Dara had a somewhat sad face. She walked up to Nydia and said, “Mr. Orson is wondering why you aren’t pregnant yet, like are you taking birth control pills yourself? That’s going to break his poor heart. Plus, taking too many of those pills can harm your body.”

At the door. Cade turned as white as a sheet in an instant.

Nydia tightened the blanket, asking, “Really? Will it affect my period?”

She cared more about her period than getting pregnant.

Just as Dara was about to answer Nydia, she caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye made her legs turn to jelly. “Mr. Ca… Cade.”

Nydia’s body froze as she looked toward the door. Cade’s stern face was covered in dark clouds, with his narrowed eyes glaring at her fiercely.

It seemed like he wanted to tear her apart bit by bit.

Being stared at by him made Nydia feel a chill down her spine, and for a moment, she even felt a bit guilty.

But she quickly calmed down, thinking, ‘What’s there to be afraid of? We’re in a state where we can’t stand each other. How could we possibly have a child together? Why is he suddenly acting moody? Obviously, he’s head over heels for Josephine Brooks and would never have a child with another woman. He must be out of his mind!’

Nydia just chose to ignore his anger.

The room fell into silence, and the air seemed to freeze.

Dara had been with the Jackson family for most of her life, but she had never seen Cade so angry before.

It was so scary and awkward that she didn’t know whether to stay or to leave.

Fortunately, Cade finally said, “You go out first.”

“Yes.” Without even thinking, Dara bolted.

The door was closed.

To ease the tension and also for self–protection, Nydia decided to suck up to Cade and get him to leave quickly.

Cade took slow steps toward her. The feeling of being cornered intensified, making Nydia grip the blanket tighter.

After a few seconds, Cade stood at the head of her bed, looking down at her condescendingly and asking with a cold and haughty tone, “What trick are you playing now?”

In Cade’s view, Nydia’s current behavior was nothing but another manipulation tactic.

She married him for fame and fortune, plus at Orson’s birthday party, she admitted that she was planning to use a child to tie him down.

But she had been on birth control for a while now. Cade couldn’t figure her out.

Nydia actually imagined Cade’s reaction when she really got pregnant. “Would he insist on an abortion, or would he be pressured by Orson to keep the baby?”

But she never expected she was just a shameless person who would even use children to manipulate others in Cade’s eyes.

So, if she were really pregnant, he would definitely not hesitate to make her have an abortion.

The dull pain in her heart returned.

Nydia couldn’t tell which hurt more. The pain made her face even paler, and sweat began to pop out on her forehead again.

But she didn’t want to appear weak in front of Cade. That would just make him look down on her even more.

Nydia revealed a carefree smile. “I’m not playing any tricks. I just don’t want to cause trouble for you.
