“What should I thank her for? Thank her for using countless tricks? Or thank her for

shamelessly taking up Mrs. Jackson’s spot without giving birth to a baby? Or maybe thank her for being always indifferent?‘ Cade cursed inwardly.

“Of course, Mr. Jackson would never want to have a baby with me, right?” Nydia met his gaze

head–on.

“Who do you think you

are?” Cade immediately rejected her guess.

It was clear that there was absolutely no chance of him having a child with Nydia. He wouldn’t give her any false hope, either.

With a paused smile, a tingling sensation in her throat, Nydia said nonchalantly, “See, I told you so. So, birth control is good for both of us.”

Soon, there was a loud slamming of the door behind her.

The sound was so loud it made Nydia shiver.

But she was finally relieved that Cade was finally gone.

The medicine started to kick in, making Nydia fall asleep quickly.

After one night’s sleep, her stomach didn’t seem to hurt as much anymore.

Dara already made breakfast. When she saw Nydia coming down, she asked, “How are you feeling now, Mrs. Nydia?”

“Much better. It looks like two pills are okay,” Nydia said half–jokingly, pulled out a chair, and sat down, putting a meatball in her mouth.

The smell of meat filled her mouth in an instant. Nydia enjoyed it so much that she squinted her eyes.

She did prefer warm food, after all.

Dara disagreed with her and immediately retorted, “Mrs. Nydia, you can’t just take medicine randomly in the future. If you ruin your health, it’s definitely not worth it.”

“That’s true. Your body is your biggest asset. If your body isn’t taken care of, how are you going to make money in the future?‘ said Nydia inwardly.

She nodded vigorously, then suddenly remembered something and said to Dara, “Dara, don’t tell Grandpa about me taking birth control pills. I’m afraid he will worry.”

So promise me, you won’t take it anymore in the future.” Dara laid out her conditions.

She was not really bold but just wanted Cade and Nydia to have a baby soon so that the Orson could rest assured. Besides, while she was still robust, she could help out when the baby was born.

Helplessly, Nydia could only agree with her.

Dara finally felt relieved and went into the kitchen with a big smile.

Today was the weekend. Nydia decided to visit Veronica.

Before leaving, Nydia called Veronica to make sure she was at the Carlson family or her own. villa. If Veronica were at the Carlson family house, she wouldn’t go.

Even though she was not close with the other members of the Carlson family, they knew her well.

If she were to show up unannounced, it was bound to make the Carlson family tense.

It was better not to go.

Luckily, Veronica had already moved into her own villa..

With the beef soup Dara cooked and some fruits and gifts, Nydia drove for an hour and a half before finally arriving at Veronica’s place at 2 p.m.

She had the key, so she opened the door and walked in easily.

Seeing Veronica, Nydia couldn’t help but be amazed. “Did you have a fight?”

She heard Veronica’s howl on the phone before she went on a business trip. Thinking it was

just an exaggerated effect, she didn’t expect the reality to be quite miserable

Veronica was lying on the sofa with both legs wrapped in bandages. Only her soles were exposed, swollen like marshmallows.

She was trying to reach the cherries on the table but couldn’t after struggling for a while. When she suddenly saw Nydia, she screamed as if she had seen a savior, “Nydia! You finally are here.”

Her piercing scream almost gave Nydia a heart attack.

Nydia hastily piled everything on the table and walked over to help her up. “What happened? How did you get hurt like this?”

“It’s all because of that damn Cade!” Veronica pointed at Nydia, looking like she was about to

bite her.

Nydia paused, feeling puzzled. “What does your injury have to do with him?”

While speaking, she held Veronica’s finger and pointed it elsewhere. “If it had something to do with him, just curse him. Don’t blame me.”

“It’s all because of him. He insisted that I accompany Lewis for the stupid dance. I danced all night. My legs were about to fall off.” Veronica recalled her painful experience and felt like killing that perverted Cade.

Lewis was even worse. His vocal cords got wrecked, so he could never make it in the music industry.

Veronica just couldn’t figure out why Cade was unhappy until her brother, Walter, told her that any man would feel uncomfortable with someone getting close to their wife, regardless of whether they loved their wife.

Veronica was totally struggling but didn’t dare to confront Cade. Let alone confronting him. Her dad didn’t even allow her to bring the matter up, as if she had only taken a big fall.

“Dance with Lewis?” Nydia was again taken aback. She remembered that she and Veronica were drinking at the Imperiacy Club when a few young guys showed up, one of them named Lewis. They pressured her into drinking a lot.

Then she got drunk and didn’t remember anything until Cade threw her on the street.

Veronica spilled all the details of that night when Nydia blacked out and also explained the reason why Cade got mad.

“But I never saw you getting close to Lewis!” Veronica was so annoyed. “Doesn’t he like you showing up in public?”

Nydia never even thought in the direction of what Walter said because she knew Cade simply disliked her.

‘He can go out and cheat on me, not coming home at night, but he asks for so much from me and gets upset when he’s not satisfied! What a hypocrite!‘ said Nydia inwardly.

“Sorry for dragging you and Lewis into this. If it weren’t for me…” Nydia said apologetically.

Veronica interrupted her, “Oh come on, talking about all this between us just creates awkwardness. Plus, who would’ve thought Lewis would be such a jerk? A loser like him deserves a sore throat.”

“Yeah, I didn’t expect that either,” Nydia said, looking completely shocked.

Thanks to that journalist who exposed him, Veronica said with a thumbs up. “What a badasst Lewis’s agency is so powerful, but it couldn’t handle it and got exposed right away.

Nydia nodded, wondering who this badass was.

“What’s that?” Veronica asked, pointing at the table.

Nydia stood up, walked to the table, and opened the container, raising her eyebrows. “Looks like I brought the right thing, beef soup, just what

you need.”

A strong and fresh scent hit Veronica in the face. She was drooling with hunger, immediately asking Nydia to serve her some.

Nydia didn’t expect that the soup would still be piping hot an hour and a half later. That thermal box that Dara brought was really good.

She went to the kitchen and grabbed some utensils, then filled a big bowl for Veronica.

Veronica immediately started eating on the couch and praised Nydia, “Hey, not bad, your skills are good enough to open a restaurant!”

“I’m flattered.” Nydia put a cherry into her mouth. “The soup was cooked by Orson’s attendant. If you like it, you can come over every day. The meatballs she makes are also very

tasty.”

Finishing. Veronica handed the bowl to Nydia with a happy smile, and Nydia responded with a surprised laugh. “You’re not trying to lose weight anymore?”

Despite saying this, she still stood up to fill her bowl again.

“I told my agent that I would take a one–month break to relax and unwind,” replied Veronica.

“Are you saying the attendant is gonna live in Silent Court from now on?” Veronica redirected the conversation back to Nydia.

Nydia gave a slight nod. “Yeah, Orson probably wants her to take care of me and also keep an eye on me and Cade’s progress.”

“Huh? Orson wants a great–grandson?” Veronica was shocked. This old man is really too eager; he didn’t even ask if his grandson was willing or not.”

“Well, I’ve been getting pushed for it all along. Nydia handed her the soup, and Veronica caught it, replying, “So, what’s your plan? And how did Cade react?”

“How did Cade react? He said, Who do you think you are?” said Nydia inwardly.

She gave a bitter smile and said, “Nothing much. Let’s just take it one step at a time.”
