I Love You More, Cade by Coral Hume ( Nydia and Jackson)
Chapter 49
Nydia smiled. âBusiness is about building relationships. Once itâs established, itâll be casier to name our price.â
Troy chuckled. âAlright, Iâll be looking forward to it.â
As night fell and the city lights lit up, Nydia, uncertain of Cadeâs return, decided to head to the Wiley familyâs house.
It was her first time visiting the Wiley family. As she approached the brightly lit villa, she couldnât help but marvel at its ostentatious decor. She wondered how a family like this raised someone as gentle as Bentley.
Nydia parked her car outside the villa, checked her watch, and scanned the area for Cadeâs black RollsâRoyce. But she didnât spot it. As she reached for her phone to call Stuart, someone knocked on her car window. She looked up to see Veronicaâs face.
With a hint of joy, Nydia rolled down the window and asked, âWhat are you doing here?â Having an acquaintance around would surely make the evening less dull.
Verónica glanced at her and asked, âHow about guestâstarring in my new drama?â
âWhat role?â Nydiaâs eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Veronica teased, âA seductive woman.â
Nydia was speechless, thinking there might be a role for her to earn some extra money.
âGet out of the car,â Veronica urged.
Nydia shook her head. âIâm waiting for Cade.â
Veronica rolled her eyes in annoyance. âWhy do you have to be together all the time, may I ask?â
Nydia explained that being alone at such events would lead to unwanted attention and gossip, but with Cade by her side, he could shield her from some of it, at least at the
entrance.
Just then, Cadeâs car approached from a distance. Feeling a sudden ache in her ankle, Veronica excused herself to enter the villa and catch up with Nydia later.

Nydia nodded as she got out of the car. Cadeâs gaze landed on her, his expression unreadable before he averted his eyes..
Nydia noticed his apparent dissatisfaction with her attire. She glanced at herself, confident in her elegant wineâred fishtail skirt and classy cardigan combo. She wondered why he seemed critical today when he usually paid no attention to her outfits. She intentionally adjusted her cascading curls and linked arms with him, flashing a practiced charming smile. âMr. Jackson, shall we?â
âYour smile looks terrible, you know?â
Cadeâs stern response hinted at his disapproval, but Nydia remained unfazed by his attitude. In response to his grumpiness, Nydia flashed a grin, teasing, âCome on, Mr. Jackson. This wonât last long.â
Cade, seemingly pondering her words, grew increasingly displeased.
Nydia couldnât figure out what had upset him this time. As soon as they entered, he impatiently walked away. She was relieved to have some distance from him.
After mingling with a few people, Nydia finally found Veronica. However, Veronica seemed busy, so Nydia sat nearby and waited for her. The night air was chilly, and Nydia regretted attending such a gathering in the dead of winter. After a few sips of wine, she began to feel a bit warmer.
Suddenly, two men approached and sat in front of Nydia. One of them asked, âWho did you see earlier?â
The other man leaned back in his chair and replied, âJosephine.â
Nydiaâs hand holding the glass froze.
Their conversation continued about potential chaos if Josephine saw Cade with another woman, considering the presence of elders at the event. Nydiaâs face paled, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the glass tighter. It was evident that these two men were mutual friends of Cade and Josephine. Nydia realized that Cade had never introduced her to his friends, so even though they sat in front of her, she remained a stranger to them.
From their conversation, Nydia gathered that Cade never respected her in front of his friends, which was why they didnât hold her in high regard. In their eyes, Nydia was not Cadeâs wife but just another acquaintance. They thought Josephine was Cadeâs wife.
Nydia couldnât control her trembling, feeling anger and a fleeting sense of defiance. She

took another sip of wine to calm herself, reminding herself that she had anticipated this situation, but she questioned why she felt so unsettled and sad.
âYou canât always cater to the old folksâ opinions, right? Josephine has waited long enough,â the man said.
âYouâre making me think youâve taken a fancy to her, dude,â the other man replied.
âFew men can say no to a woman as sexy as Josephine. But Iâm just saying. Her heart belongs to Cade, and I hope she will be happy.â
âSeems like youâre quite drunk, man,â the other man teased.
âDid I say something wrong? Josephine is much better than that woman. In terms of family background and appearance, Josephine surpasses her by miles,â he argued.
âStop talking,â the other man said.
âNydia!â exclaimed Veronica as she waved at Nydia, causing Liam and Paul to stop chatting. Following Veronicaâs gaze, they saw Nydia raising her glass in a mock toast toward them.
Liam sprayed wine out in surprise, splashing Paul in the face.
Veronica rushed over. âWhat are you two doing here?â She noticed Paulâs disheveled state and quickly handed him some tissues.
Paul took the tissues and glanced at Nydia with hostility.
Nydia inwardly smirked but maintained composed. âLet me introduce myself. Iâm Nydia Sharp.â She paused for a moment before adding with a meaningful smile, âCadeâs wife.â
