Chapter 65

The meeting went on for a full four hours, with a break for lunchtime.

Nydia was still in a bit of a trance until she sat down in the restaurant.

It was her first time to attend this kind of high–level global economic summit with Cade, and it was also her first time to see Cade switching between seven languages with case on the stage, talking and discussing with the top big names from various industries present.

She’d been verbally abused for five whole years. Every time Cade showed his face in front of everyone, she was verbally abused behind her back.

The two were talking when they saw Josephine come in. Josephine didn’t show up for

Josephine didn’t have to attend the meeting. She only came there to travel with Cade, not for work.

She stood up and took a few steps over. She pushed aside the crowd of onlookers and took Josephine’s hand. “Come with me for a moment.”

As soon as Josephine saw it was Nydia, she became angry and pushed her hard. “Get off me, you bitch.”

Nydia lost her balance and took several steps backward. She leaned against the table behind her so she didn’t fall.

She didn’t get angry. She once again stepped forward to pull Josephine, whispering. “Stop being crazy here. Just go with me.”

“I’m not going with you, bitch. Let go of me.” Josephine struggled for a while and found it useless, so she lowered her head and bit hard on Nydia’s hand. Nydia’s hand bled on

the spot.

Nydia sucked in her breath in pain and pushed Josephine back in annoyance. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Ms. Sharp!” Alison rushed over in shock to protect Nydia, pointing at Josephine and cursing, “Are you crazy? Ms. Sharp came over to help you kindly but you bit her. Are you an animal?”

“What are you doing?” A cold and deep voice came from behind. Cade was back.

Josephine almost immediately ran toward him in tears. “Cade, what took you so long? I looked everywhere for you and couldn’t find you.”

Stuart stepped in front and nodded respectfully. “Ms. Brooks, I’ll take

back.”

The restaurant was full of bigwigs from various countries who had come to the summit. At this time, Josephine should have paid more attention to keeping a distance from

Cade, but she seemed to be not clear–headed and just ignored it.

Seeing Stuart stop her, she raised her hand to slap him.

Slap!

Stuart was slapped by her.

“Who the hell are you to stop me? Get the hell out of my way!” Josephine scolded

Stuart.

Cade’s face darkened.

Nydia looked back at Cade. She wanted to see how he was going to handle this mess.

“Ms. Brooks, sorry.” Without waiting for Cade to give an order, Stuart grabbed Josephine with one hand and quickly left. He moved cleanly and agilely, giving Josephine no chance to resist.

As soon as they were gone, however, peace returned to the restaurant.

Cade made his way toward Nydia.

Nydia had anger in her heart and didn’t want to pay attention to him. However, considering the occasion, she still looked up at him and said softly, “Hi, Mr. Jackson.”

Cade ignored her greeting but grabbed her bleeding hand, with resentment in his eyes.

Nydia tried to take her hand back. “It’s fine. I’ll take care of it myself.”

Cade didn’t let go of her hand and frowned coldly at her, his tone full of blame. “Why don’t you dodge?”

Nydia really wanted to refute him, but after thinking about it, she decided not to.

“I think there’s something wrong with Josephine. You’d better go check on her,” Nydia reminded him sincerely.

Cade curled his lips coldly. “And you’re even concerned about her? Looks like she didn’t bite

you that hard.”

Nydia was speechless.

“You don’t need to go to the meeting this afternoon. I’ll arrange for Stuart to take you to the hospital to bandage.” Cade released her and took out his phone to click on the

contacts.

Nydia refused hastily. “No, thanks. I’ll just go by myself. Stuart has to follow you in case you need him.”

She knew that Stuart was both Cade’s assistant and bodyguard.

Mewarting City’s legal system was not as sound as Creekheim’s. Because it was on the border and by the sea, it was especially chaotic. Cade couldn’t be without someone to protect him.

Cade remained silent for a few seconds and glanced up at Alison. “Then let her accompany you.”

“Okay.” Nydia agreed.

Cade was still uneasy. He turned and said to the two bodyguards behind him, “Follow and protect her.”
