Chapter 1083 - Not Even Friends

When she first entered school, she tried to accept and enter the circle amongst the four hostel roommates. It was probably due to how Gu Qingcheng had said that he hoped for Yun Liuli to lead the life of an ordinary girl.

It was a shortcoming for a person to be incapable of maintaining interpersonal relationships. However, it might be because this was an era where looks were highly-regarded, but this trait of Yun Liuli’s made her appear cute…

Yun Liuli’s classmates at school had an endless amount of understanding and acceptance toward her, with some even feeling sorry for her. They felt that it wasn’t her fault that she had a character that led to her having problems in maintaining interpersonal relationships and that she needed more protection from everyone in order to get better!

Both Yun Liuli and Zhou Yuchen seemed to have the same problem in maintaining interpersonal relationships. However, Yun Liuli had her three roommates, in addition to her beauty. Therefore, the treatment she received was completely different from Zhou Yuchen.

After returning to their hostel, Du Yingzi and Ye Yingying also joined Guan Nina in persuading Yun Liuli to keep her distance from Zhou Yuchen.

Yun Liuli’s mind was filled with what Gu Qingcheng had mentioned, that he would be coming back on Wednesday, and she was feeling very happy. Her lips were curled up into a smile, her eyes glimmering. Guan Nina’s period came the following day, and her face was ghastly pale from cramps. She even vomited when she was in the hostel and was unable to attend class the next morning. She could only trouble Yun Liuli to apply for leave on her behalf.

When Yun Liuli walked to the door, she saw Guan Nina lying in bed and sleeping after having taken painkillers. She hesitated for a moment, then went downstairs to buy breakfast for Guan Nina. She left it on the table and wrote a note to remind Guan Nina to eat some food after she woke up. She only took her books and water bottle to the classroom after doing that.

Yun Liuli arrived late, and there weren’t any good seats left. She took a quick look and saw that the seats around Zhou Yuchen were all empty. She walked over and sat down in front of Zhou Yuchen.

The students who had arrived earlier whispered amongst themselves, making guesses as to why Yun Liuli had sat in front of Zhou Yuchen again. Didn’t she find him smelly?

Zhou Yuchen attracted attention once again because of Yun Liuli, and he started to feel nervous.

When the professor did the roll call, Yun Liuli raised her hand to apply for leave on Guan Nina’s behalf. Her action attracted more attention toward them once again, and Zhou Yuchen lowered his head even further. He decided to sit in a corner in the very last row next time.

That day, Yun Liuli managed to attend the class quietly due to Zhou Yuchen. She counted the days and was feeling especially happy that Wednesday was getting closer.

On the third day, Zhou Yuchen sat in a corner seat in the very last row. Once again, no one sat around him. Feeling in a good mood, Yun Liuli went over and sat next to him.

Zhou Yuchen moved closer to the wall. His overly long sleeves exposed the bruises on the back of his hand, and he anxiously shrunk his hand back into his sleeve, leaving only his slender and fair fingers to grab onto the borders of his book. It was as if he was trying hard to stick himself to the wall.

Yun Liuli sat close to Zhou Yuchen for three consecutive days, and this took everyone by surprise. Even Zhong Qingfei, who had been friend-zoned by Yun Liuli and was told that she wasn’t even willing to be friends with him, couldn’t take it anymore.

Zhong Qingfei put down his book and walked up to the row in front of Yun Liuli, standing in front of her.

Yun Liuli looked up at Zhong Qingfei, wearing a perplexed gaze.

“You can sit in front. I’ll give up my seat to you…” Zhong Qingfei threw a glance at Zhou Yuchen, who had buried his face very low, and said to Yun Liuli.

“I’m fine sitting here!”

Yun Liuli didn’t lie. She was really fine with it!

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have chosen to sit next to Zhou Yuchen. It was because, with Zhou Yuchen around, other people wouldn’t approach her. There also weren’t any students in front of her who would affect her studies. She felt very comfortable there.

“Do you know that he…” Zhong Qingfei almost couldn’t suppress the fury in his heart, and his voice came to a stop when it was about to erupt. He furrowed his brows tightly and looked at Yun Liuli’s clean and peaceful eyes. It was as if he was being ridiculed.

Yun Liuli had said it herself that she wasn’t even willing to be friends with him…

Zhong Qingfei suppressed the fury he was feeling, but his emotions seethed increasingly intensely. This was especially so when he heard the other students whispering amongst themselves, tying Yun Liuli and Zhou Yuchen’s names together. This made him even more enraged.

It was no secret that Zhong Qingfei liked Yun Liuli. This was something that almost everyone in the school knew about!

It was also because Zhong Qingfei was wooing Yun Liuli that the other guys who were tempted to chase after her didn’t dare to harass her.

Zhong Qingfei let out a long exhale and put both his hands onto the table, then said to Yun Liuli in a soft voice, “Yun Liuli, you might be doing this out of goodwill, seeing that Zhou Yuchen is always alone…”

When Zhou Yuchen’s name was mentioned, his fingers curled up even more, and he lowered his head, looking as if he wanted to become a wall painting.

“But Liuli, the closer you are to Zhou Yuchen, the tougher his life will be. Why can’t you act like you did in the past… and treat Zhou Yuchen as air?” Zhong Qingfei suppressed his fury as he spoke to Yun Liuli.

In order to woo Yun Liuli, Zhong Qingfei had always put up a gentle front, attempting to use this side of him to move her heart. This was the first time that Zhong Qingfei had blown up in front of her…

Yun Liuli looked at Zhong Qingfei with her clear gaze, not really understanding what he was talking about.

“I’m just attending class…”

She was just taking a seat there and attending the class. Why would it make Zhou Yuchen’s life increasingly harsh? Yun Liuli was displeased with Zhong Qingfei’s words. The line of “you can also treat me like air” didn’t come out of her mouth.

Looking at Yun Liuli’s unmoved expression, Zhong Qingfei clenched his teeth and smiled at her. “Then, since we aren’t friends, can I sit next to you, not doing anything but attending class?”

Yun Liuli increasingly felt that Zhong Qingfei was strange. After a moment, her furrowed brows relaxed, as if she had finally come around to the idea…

She said to Zhong Qingfei, “You can sit anywhere you want in class. I don’t know if you have any misunderstandings, but I’m sitting beside Zhou Yuchen because he is very quiet and won’t disturb me.”

Yun Liuli rarely explained things to others. However, she probably chose to explain things today because the other party was Zhong Qingfei, someone whom she had made use of before.
