Chapter 430 - Have Your Parents Never Taught You to Respect the Dead?
Mr Fu, I Really Love You
Gao Daiwei was the daughter of Director Gao and his late wife. His late wife passed away while giving birth to her, so Gao Daiwei was sent to live with her grandpa and grandma after she was born.
When Gao Daiwei was eight months old, Director Gao remarried to a woman who was the daughter of the current Jincheng Development Bureauâs Director. They subsequently had two daughters, and so Gao Daiwei was forgotten by Director Gao.
Later, Director Gao got promoted to his current position as Haichengâs Development Bureau Chief. After his parents passed away one after the other, he had no choice but to send for the adolescent Gao Daiwei⦠who was only 16 years of age at the time, to live with him in Haicheng.
But having grown up in different environments from her two step-sisters, Gao Daiwei didnât get along with them and suffered severe bullying. However, Director Gao was biased towards his two young daughters and chose to turn a blind eye to that.
Precisely because of what she had to go through, plus her similar circumstances with Lin Ran growing up, the duo instantly hit it off and became the best of friends who could talk about anything under the sun.
Gao Daiwei was certain Lin Ran was forced to leave for the UK due to the scheming Lin Nuan. It was Lin Nuan who stole Lin Ranâs parents, giving her no choice but to head to a foreign land all by herself.
Gao Daiwei had only one such good friend in Haicheng, a confidante who was so similar in temperament. Now that Lin Ran had left⦠in Haicheng, she no longer had a sister with whom she could confide in!
Regarding this matter, Gao Daiwei had cried on the phone with Lin Ran several times.
She knew very well that Lin Ran was a straightforward and simple girl, which all the more made her feel that Lin Nuan was a scheming b*tch. She hated Lin Nuan to the coreâ¦
Now that she had bumped into Lin Nuan at the mall, based on Gao Daiweiâs character, she definitely had to avenge Lin Ran.
Lin Nuan didnât wish to get entangled with Gao Daiwei, so she turned to leave, but she was pulled back by the wrist by Gao Daiwei.
Gao Daiwei had a provocative look on her face as she smiled and took the watch from the sales ladyâs hands. She asked Lin Nuan, âYou like this watch? Itâs not cheap, you know⦠youâre but a lowly talk show host, are you sure you can afford it? Is your sugar daddy footing the bill, or are you making the Lins pay for it?â
âIs Miss Gao deliberately making things difficult for me?â Lin Nuanâs brows were closely knit.
Gao Daiwei looked at the watch in her hands and didnât let go of Lin Nuan. She asked, âOr⦠you canât afford it, and you get a kick out of just admiring it? Or perhaps, youâre gonna post it to your social circle and comment on how gorgeous the watch is and wait for Lin Ranâs mother to gift it to you?â
Gao Daiwei knew very well that Lin Nuan was a public figure, so she was deliberately blowing the matter up to disgrace her in public!
âDaiwei, forget it! Letâs go⦠Didnât you want to sing karaoke because you were in a bad mood? Letâs just go! Iâve already booked a suite!â
The girl by Gao Daiweiâs side tried to ease the tension in the air.
âIâm asking you a question!â Gao Daiwei tugged at Lin Nuanâs elbow and demanded sternly, âYou canât afford it, so youâre waiting for Lin Ranâs mother to buy it for you. Right?â
With great force, Lin Nuan extracted her elbow from Gao Daiweiâs grip and said, âIs that what Miss Gao is accustomed to doing? Whenever you canât afford something, youâll just post it to your social circle and wait for someone to present it to you? To judge others by oneself will only expose oneself, has no one ever enlightened you on this principle?â
How could a grown person like Lin Nuan not have any temper at all?
The oppression in her heart was just calmed down after talking to Fu Huaiâan, and now, Gao Daiwei was bringing all those emotions back up to the surface again.
Even a well-tempered person had a temper!
Not giving Gao Daiwei any chance to speak, Lin Nuanâs gaze swept over the large and small shopping bags in Gao Daiweiâs hands. âSurely the salary offered by the Development Bureau isnât so high these days! The brands you bought arenât cheap at all and would probably cost a year or twoâs wages! Miss Gao sure doesnât mind parting with her money! Or is it the backing of your sugar daddy or Director Gao that gives Miss Gao such an air of arrogance?â
Gao Daiwei turned pale from hearing Lin Nuanâs words. She raised her hand to slap Lin Nuan.
âDaiwei!â She reached out to grab hold of Gao Daiweiâs raised arm.
Gao Daiweiâs companion gasped in surprise. The slap ultimately didnât land on Lin Nuanâs face. Gao Daiweiâs slender wrist was held in a death grip by Lin Nuan.
âDaiwei! Donât cause a scene!â The companion held Gao Daiweiâs raised arm and urged her, saying, âUncle Gao wonât be pleased!â
Gao Daiwei bit the inside of her cheeks and laughed coldly as she yanked her arm from Lin Nuanâs grip, saying, âRight! I have my father behind me, so I dare to be so arrogant! Iâm unlike someone, who has a crazy mother! Her father couldnât afford to raise her⦠so he shamelessly switched her with the precious daughter of a wealthy family, helping her steal the rich life that was rightfully someone elseâs!â
Gao Daiweiâs words struck a painful chord in Lin Nuanâs heart, making her turn pale.
Seeing all color drain from Lin Nuanâs petite face, Gao Daiwei felt immensely pleased. She turned towards the sales lady and said, âHow many of this watch do you have here?â
âThis is a limited edition model. There are only two of these in the entirety of Haicheng, and theyâre all hereâ¦â the sales lady replied honestly.
âWrap up both for me! I have a wealthy and powerful, blood-related biological father! I can spend his money righteously!â
The sales lady saw Gao Daiwei hand over her credit card and immediately said yes respectfully.
Gao Daiwei squinted at Lin Nuan with a high-and-mighty attitude and said, âMy father is unlike some filthy and downright despicable trashy man! That kind of person⦠to die by ingesting poison was considered a cheap deal for him. If it were up to me, someone like him would be thrown off the top of the Lin Organization and end up as a messy pile of torn flesh and blood whereby you canât even pick up the remnants of whatever bones remained, only thenâ¦â
Watching Gao Daiweiâs red lips move, Lin Nuan raised her hand and, mustering all her strength, swung it. Gao Daiwei shrieked.
Upon hearing the commotion, several people crowded around them. Some in the crowd recognized Lin Nuan and couldnât help whipping out their phones to film the scene.
The sales lady took out the other watch, prepared to ask Gao Daiwei to look over and swipe her card if there was no problem, and then she could wrap up the two watchesâ¦
Gao Daiwei covered her flushed red face and stared at Lin Nuan in disbelief. Now that she witnessed Lin Nuan slap Gao Daiwei, the sales lady was afraid she might become collateral damage in this fight and didnât dare make a sound behind the counter.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Gao Daiwei was stunned by this slap from Lin Nuan, and half her face was numb.
âDaiwei, are you okay?â her friend asked anxiously.
Lin Nuan was trembling from anger, and her clear voice had an imposing manner. âMiss Gao, you can scold someone, but to be so vicious in your words, arenât you afraid of retribution? Have your parents never taught you to respect the dead?â
Watching as more and more people started to crowd around them, Gao Daiwei felt embarrassed. She flung down everything she was holding and charged towards Lin Nuanâ¦
A large pair of hands gripped Lin Nuanâs shoulders. She lightly fell backwards and felt a solid and warm wall behind her. A familiar scent enveloped Lin Nuan, giving her a sense of security.
Gao Daiwei was also held back by her companion. That well-manicured hand ultimately didnât touch Lin Nuanâs face.
âForget it, Daiwei! We can always settle accounts later! People are filming here. Whatâs going to happen if your dad and step-mom see this!â Gao Daiweiâs friend urged in a low voice.
