667 Fu Wan“s Birthday

Both Fu Huai’an and Tang Zheng completely changed Lin Nuan’s perception of men in suits. Tang Zheng beat the eggs skilfully. From his posture, one could tell that he was a master at this and wasn’t just doing it for show.

But with his brows furrowed, it seemed like there was enmity between him and the pots and pans in the house as he beat the eggs forcefully.

“Ding ding ding ding ding—”

The phone rang. Lin Nuan glanced at it and saw that it was Fang Yan calling. She informed Fu Huai’an that she’d be taking a call in the living room.

Fu Huai’an turned back and saw that Tang Zheng was going to light up a cigarette in their kitchen. He said, “Don’t smoke in the kitchen…”

Tang Zheng was speechless.

Tang Zheng removed the unlit cigarette from the corner of his mouth and shoved it back into the pack. He then asked Fu Huai’an, “Are all women this hard to handle?”

Fu Huai’an cleared away his and Lin Nuan’s bowls and placed them in the sink. He retorted, “I thought you handled Lu Jinnan’s problem pretty well?”

Tang Zheng was speechless.

To be honest, Tang Zheng didn’t have much experience when it came to relationships. When he helped Lu Jinnan out, he was merely enjoying the show and couldn’t wait for things to escalate!

Besides, Bai Xiaonian truly was a gentle and fragile woman. That was why Lu Jinnan forcing himself upon her worked out!

But for him and You Nainai, hur hur… if he had Fu Huai’an’s skills, he would have nothing to fear!

If Tang Zheng dared to force himself upon You Nainai in his current state, he’d probably be beaten to a pulp before he could even touch her!

Tang Zheng’s brows knitted together in frustration. Fu Huai’an reminded him good-naturedly, “Lu Jinnan should have told you before. It’s always easier if you start from the kid! You should first build up your relationship with Little Candy.”

Lin Nuan returned after she was done with the call. She said that the landlord had tried to call her before, but the call didn’t get through. He wanted Lin Nuan to go back to the old rental apartment and move out all of her things because he’d already sold the place.

“Remember to lock the door when you leave!” After giving instructions to Tang Zheng, Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan headed to the rental apartment.

Tang Zheng was speechless.

Was that how the two of them hosted guests? Never mind the fact that he had to take care of his own meal, but they even left their guest behind in the house!

Lin Nuan had packed up most of her stuff. There were only some small things and books that needed to be packed before everything could be moved out.

On the way to the apartment, Lin Nuan sent a text to Bai Xiaonian. She had also left some things in Lin Nuan’s rental apartment. Since it was difficult for Bai Xiaonian to move about right now, Lin Nuan said that she’d first take her things to Tianfu Bay. Bai Xiaonian could then come and get them afterward.

Bai Xiaonian originally wanted to have one last look at Lin Nuan’s little rental apartment. Back then, for Lin Nuan, Bai Xiaonian, and Song Yao, this small apartment was their home. Bai Xiaonian had some feelings, no matter how much, for the place!

If Bai Xiaonian wasn’t handling her resignation at Haicheng TV Station right now… and who knew when that would be taken care of, she’d go over and have a look at the apartment.

When Lin Nuan and Fu Huai’an arrived, Little Lu had already brought people from the moving company with him.

Little Lu and the people from the moving company moved Lin Nuan’s luggage, which was already placed in a box, downstairs and into the moving van. Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan put the remaining small things into the box.

Lin Nuan packed up clothes in the master bedroom, while Fu Huai’an carried a large box into the small room to put away all the knick-knacks.

When Song Yao, Bai Xiaonian, and Tuan Tuan were all here, Lin Nuan and Tuan Tuan used to stay in this small room. There was even a toy truck that Tuan Tuan had left behind on the bedside cabinet.

When Fu Huai’an placed the books on the bookshelf into the box, a pale blue notebook with a combination lock dropped from the shelf, and the combination lock broke open…

He bent down to pick it up. In the book, he saw Lin Nuan’s elegant yet childish handwriting.

This was Lin Nuan’s diary from when she was younger. Fu Huai’an couldn’t help but take a look at it.

In Lin Nuan’s diary from 2007, the pages were filled with girly and cute language.

“Today, I was all caught up in last night’s dream and spaced out. When the chemistry teacher told me to answer a question, I was so nervous, and my hand kept shaking as I held the chalk. But thankfully, I managed to answer the question correctly! I wonder if all girls my age are like me and have dreams of being proposed to or being a bride…”

Eventually, Fu Huai’an became engrossed in reading Lin Nuan’s diary. He leaned against the study table and continued to flip the pages.

After she was done packing, Lin Nuan walked out of the master bedroom and watched Little Lu instruct the movers to move the stuff downstairs. She decided to go to the small room to see how Fu Huai’an’s packing was coming along.

Upon entering the small room, she saw Fu Huai’an reading something with great interest and smiling. The box had only been filled up halfway…

“What are you doing?” Lin Nuan asked.

Fu Huai’an calmly closed the diary in his hand, stood up, and casually bent down to place the diary in the box. “Just looking around! Are you done packing up in the master bedroom?”

“Yeah!” Lin Nuan nodded. “I was thinking, we could go to the kindergarten to fetch Tuan Tuan after we’re done packing.”

Just as Lin Nuan finished speaking, Fu Huai’an’s phone rang.

She didn’t stop Fu Huai’an from taking the call and placed the books and small things on the bookshelf into the box.

Fu Huai’an glanced at the caller ID. It was the Fu family mansion’s housekeeper.

Fu Huai’an didn’t avoid Lin Nuan. He walked over to her and helped to place the small things in the box while taking the call. “What’s the matter, Housekeeper Ye?”

“Young Master, today is Eldest Young Miss’ birthday. Old Madam Fu hopes that the both of you can come back to the mansion…” After he finished speaking, Housekeeper Ye seemed to be afraid that Fu Huai’an would turn him down. He added, “In the past, every year on Eldest Young Miss’ birthday, you’d keep Old Madam Fu company. But this year, you haven’t even called back home once. Old Madam Fu is worried that this is because she didn’t approve of your relationship with Lin Nuan back then and that you’ve been holding a grudge against her ever since. That’s why she wanted me to call you! She hopes both of you can come back together!”

Fu Huai’an hadn’t forgotten Fu Wan’s birthday.

The room was quiet. Lin Nuan vaguely heard from the other end of the line that today seemed to be Fu Huai’an’s mother’s birthday. She stopped packing and looked at Fu Huai’an with clear eyes, tucking her hair behind her ear.

“Young Master, allow me to say something bold. Right now, you have a kid and a wife, but Old Madam Fu has lost both her daughter and her husband. If you don’t even come back on Eldest Young Miss’ birthday and keep her company, she’ll be far too pitiful!”

Hearing this, Fu Huai’an replied, “In the past, Second Granduncle and Second Grandaunt would go back to keep Old Madam Fu company too. She shouldn’t be lonely!”

“But Young Master and Old Madam Fu are related by blood. No one else is closer to her!” Housekeeper Ye sounded mournful.

“I understand…”

Housekeeper Ye couldn’t be at ease without a definite answer from Fu Huai’an. He continued, “Old Madam Fu has her own difficulties too. She’s been too headstrong her whole life, and her words and actions will sometimes inevitably be out of line. Please forgive her on account of her old age!”
