Chapter 127
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 127
As Grace listened to the low roar from inside, her palms clenched tighter and tighter.
But when she looked at Eleven, her expression remained icy cold without a hint of warmth. âDo you think Iâve gone too far?â
Eleven immediately knelt down. âThatâs not what I meant, Miss. Itâs only fair for you to return the pain after the medicine you took last night. But I know that you donât really want to kill Mr. Fallen.â Hearing his words, Grace felt a little relieved herself.
After some thought, she looked at Seventeen. âGo to the old house and bring Yvonne here. Move quickly.â
âYes, Miss.â Seventeen quickly set off.
The remaining people stood by the door of the basement, listening to the increasingly intense low roars and struggles, on the brink of despair. Even the tall and burly bodyguards could hardly bear it, feeling that it was a cruel torture for their ears as well.
Another ten minutes passed, and Grace finally gave an order.
âOpen the door and bring a bucket of ice water from the refrigerator to help cool him down.â
The bodyguards were initially taken aback, but they obediently followed Graceâs instructions and fetched some ice cubes and a bucket of water to mix.
Creak
The door to the basement opened, and a faint light seeped in, elongating the shadow of Edgar in the middle. Edgar lay curled up on the floor, resembling a baby in its motherâs womb.
The floor beneath him was soaked with sweat, his hair dampened by perspiration, hanging over his forehead, like a wounded and helpless large dog. In this past hour, he had struggled to the point of exhaustion. His body was trembling violently and his face was frighteningly red
Feeling the glaring light on his eyelids, he struggled to lift his eyes. In the blur, he saw a slender and familiar figure against the backlight,
Almost without thinking, he trembled and reached out his hand, his eyes filled with longing as he uttered h oa rse ly, âGrace⦠I⦠I feel.. so⦠uncomfortableâ¦â
He felt sorry for causing her so much discomfort from the drug last night. Today, he had returned it to her. Would she feel a little better in her heart?
Could it offset some of the disgust she felt towards him?
His hand trembled violently, stubbornly wanting to touch that figure. It seemed so close, as if he could reach out and touch it with a single hand. But it also felt distant, like there was an insurmountable barrier between the two of th Because of the backlight, he couldnât see Graceâs expression, but he could sense the coldness emanating from her. That intense coldness made his heart ache sharply, even more unbearable than the onset of the medicine.
Grace quietly watched him from a distance, motionless.
Since Edgar opened his eyes, his gaze had never left her. Her pupils trembled slightly, but she didnât say a word. And Edgar continued to wait, waiting for even a single word of compassion from her.
However, what came was Eighteen pouring the mixed ice and water over his head.
His originally feverish body couldnât bear the sudden and drastic temperature difference. The bucket of freezing water drenched him to the bone, causing him to tremble even harder. His teeth chattered, and his consciousness uncontrollably began to fade.
âEighteen, who told you to pour it directly on his head!â
Graceâs hand gripping the armrest tightened abruptly.
âHuh? Wasnât that what Miss originally instructed?!â
Eighteen was bewildered by her sudden anger. His hand trembled, and the remaining half-bucket of water accidentally poured all at once on Edgar. The immense impact caused Edgar to cough violently.
The heart-wrenching cough echoed in the basement, as if his lungs were about to be coughed up.
sounding extremely frightening.
Grace was infuriated by Eighteenâs incompetence. Just as she was about to get up and check on Edgarâs condition, a womanâs scream suddenly came from behind her.
âAh! Edgar! My Edgar!â
Hearing this voice, Graceâs hand, which had been tightly gripping the armrest, loosened. She sat back steadily in her chair, her face returning to its usual cold and aloof expression.
Yvonne was originally lying in the private ward of the old mansion with a cast on her leg.
When Seventeen came looking for her, his face looked very unpleasant. Yvonne knew immediately that it wouldnât be good news. She pretended to be pitiful and refused to come, but in the end, she was forcibly dragged over by Seventeen.
As soon as she saw her son in the basement, barely clinging to life after being tortured, Yvonne couldnât care less about pretending to be lame. She stepped on her casted leg and ran to him as fast as she could. She threw herself down beside Edgar, feeling her sonâs body devoid of any warmth, and trembling uncontrollably. She panicked.
âWhereâs the doctor? Go find a doctor! My son is dying! He canât die, he canât!â
Yvonne, who had been proud for most of her life, cried uncontrollably in front of Grace, disregarding her image. âGrace, I beg you! Save him, he hasnât done anything wrong. Why are you treating him like this? They say a hundred days of kindness for a day of marriage. Why are you so cruel?â
A hundred days of kindness for a day of marriage?
Grace sneered and said, âIn all the years Iâve been married into the Fallen family, I havenât felt even the slightest bit of kindness. They also say that a daughter-in-law is like a half daughter, but you not only didnât treat me as a daughter, you even said that Iâm not even as good as your pet dog. Now that you see your most beloved son being tormented by the woman you despise the most, how do you
feel?
Yvonne paused for two seconds, then suddenly burst into despairing s obs.
âI feel terrible! Iâm so uncomfortable that my heart is suffocating. Itâs all my fault, I was mean to you. but my son is innocent. Please save him, Grace! Iâm begging you!â
Grace sighed, expressing her helplessness. âI canât save him, only you can save him.â
Yvonne stopped crying and stared blankly for a few seconds. âWhat do you mean?â
âThe reason why Edgar ended up like this is because he put something you gave him into my coffee, and youâ¦â
Before she could finish, Yvonne hastily shouted, âNo! Itâs not true! It has nothing to do with him! T

suggested it to him, but he rejected me. I secretly gave it to him when he wasnât paying attention!
Really, it has nothing to do with him! He doesnât know! I swear!â
âOh? Is that so?â
Grace stood up, walked up to Yvonne, and looked down at her condescendingly. She asked, âThen who gave you the medicine? Who helped you come up with the idea of faking an illness?â
Yvonne froze and didnât answer.
Grace smiled. âWith your intelligence, the most you can think of is to make the best of a bad situation.
The person who instigated you to cause so much trouble wants to sit back and watch the show. Youâve been used, and you didnât even realize it. Truly foolish.â
Yvonne had never been scolded like this before, but this time, she felt that Grace was right.
âYouâre right, Iâve really been used! Itâs that old thing, Greg. He said that as long as I could make Edgar reconcile with you again, he wouldâ¦â
âReturning to the way it was before in the Fallen family, I shouldnât have believed his nonsense!â.
Greg Fallen?
As expected, it was that old fox.
At his age, he still resorted to such despicable tactics. Truly shameless.
Yvonne continued crying while holding onto Edgar. âWuwu, Grace, heâs getting colder and colder.
Please save him! Heâs my everything, he canât be in danger!â
Graceâs expression softened slightly as she looked at the desperate Yvonne. She sighed and said, âYvonne, itâs not that I donât want to save him, but I canât. The poison has spread too far, and itâs beyond my abilities to cure him. Only Greg might have the antidote.â
Yvonneâs crying became even more intense upon hearing this. âThen go find him! You must save my son! I donât care what you do, just save him!â
Grace shook her head. âFinding Greg wonât be easy. Heâs cun ning and elusive. Besides, even if we find him, thereâs no guarantee that heâll give us the antidote. He might have his own conditions and demands.â
Yvonne grabbed onto Graceâs arm, her voice trembling. âPlease, Grace, I beg you. I will do anything, just save my son. I canât bear to lose him.â
Grace looked at Yvonne, her eyes showing a mix of sympathy and indifference. âYvonne, do you know the price of saving him? Are you willing to pay that price?â
Yvonneâs eyes widened, filled with desperation. âIâll do anything! Just tell me what to do!â
Graceâs gaze turned cold. âIf you want me to save him, then you have to leave the Fallen family and cut off all ties with Greg. You must sever any connection you have with him and promise to never be used by him again.â
Yvonne hesitated for a moment. She knew that if she agreed to Graceâs conditions, her life would change completely. But her love for her son was greater than any attachment she had to the Fallen family.
âI⦠I agree,â Yvonne said with determination. âIâll do whatever it takes to save my son.â
Grace nodded, her expression serious. âThen we have a deal. Once your son is saved, you will leave this place and start a new life far away from the Fallen family.â
Yvonne nodded, tears still streaming down her face. âThank you, Grace. Thank you for giving me at chance to save my son.
Chapter 127
Grace didnât respond, her gaze focused on Edgarâs frail figure. She knew that the road ahead would be difficult, but she was determined to do everything in her power to save him.
