Chapter 150
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 150
It was half past ten in the evening. Finally, the charity banquet at the Garden Hotel came to an end. As Jade walked towards the entrance, she glanced sideways at the man beside her.
He was as aloof as ever, with an indomitable aura between his brows. Jade thought about how he had acted helpless and fragile in front of Grace earlier. It piqued her curiosity.
âI thought it was my cousin who had changed, but it turns out that cousin only changed towards someone in particular. Iâm really curious, cousin, are you just acting in front of her, or have you truly fallen for her?â
Edgar stood tall with his back straight, exuding an air of elegance in his suit as if he hadnât heard her words, walking in silence. Despite being ignored, Jade didnât feel embarrassed. She continued. walking and got into the car with him.
Eric sat between them in the backseat like a sandwich cookie, since Edgar was reluctant to sit next to Jade. He became an impromptu barrier between them.
The car sped away, and it only took eight minutes to reach the outskirts. It was a desolate but exquisitely crafted wooden house.
Along with the bodyguards Jade had brought, the four of them entered the small wooden house.
Only one kerosene lamp was lit inside the house, casting a dim light.
Edgar surveyed the room and noticed that whether it was the bedsheets, the tabletop, or the bedside, everything was clean and showed signs of being inhabited.
It seemed that Nancy had been living here ever since she was brought out of prison.
With this in mind, Edgar glanced at Jade and sneered, âI didnât expect the Evans family to have such ability, actually being able to stealthily take someone out of prison without anyone noticing.â
Jade chuckled and replied, âOf course. She is your beloved, and by saving her, I am helping you, my dear brother.â
âShe is not,â Edgar responded without hesitation. She had never been his beloved.
At that moment, Nancy sat on the wooden bed, no longer displaying the frantic and deranged appearance she had at the banquet. Although her face still bore the marks of injuries, she seemed like a different person.
Upon hearing Edgarâs immediate denial, Nancy couldnât help but burst into tears, large drops rolling down her cheeks.
âWhy, Edgar, why? You used to love me so much. What did Grace do to you? Have you forgotten the promises you made? Have you forgotten the debt of gratitude from when I saved you decades ago?â
As she mentioned this, an overwhelming aura of resentment emanated from Edgarâs entire being. This so-called promise had caused him to overlook the love Grace had shown him throughout the years, and he had even wronged and insulted her with his words.
The memory of the hurtful things he had said to Grace filled him with intense remorse, making him wish he could slap himself several times.
Lowering his head to conceal the surge of guilt in his eyes, he paid no attention to Nancyâs words. Eric spoke up on his behalf: âMiss Nancy, our Boss already knows that you are not the girl who saved him in the past. Itâs quite foolish of you to continue relying on a debt of gratitude, donât you
think?â
The Millisandre and
Nancy was stunned for a moment, then she weakly kneeled before Edgar, lacking any strength in her limbs.
âShe deceived you, Ed. It was really me who saved you back then. I was at the scene of the accident, but I was young and scared. I didnât rush to your side immediately. There was a girl who pulled you out of the car and left. It was me who came forward to save you. It truly was me!â Nancy cried earnestly and mournfully, her eyes filled with unparalleled sincerity.
Edgar remained silent.
Jade handed a document to him, saying. âBrother, what she said is indeed true. I had someone investigate the incident from back then. If you donât believe it, take a look.â
He took the document and carefully examined it. His cold and stern expression remained unchanged, and his dark eyes were as deep as a bottomless abyss.
âSo, it turns out it was like this. I thought it was Grace who saved me. It seems she deceived me.â
Hearing this, Nancy breathed a sigh of relief and continued to sob, âEd, she is a wicked and treacherous woman. She is the one who caused me to end up like this. You must not let her go!â Jade also chimed in, âBrother, I heard that ever since you signed the employment contract with her. she has frequently abused and tormented you. She has harmed both Miss Mellis and the Fallen family. Donât you want to seek justice from her?
Edgarâs dark eyes grew increasingly deep. He lowered his head, deliberately concealing his anger in his eyes.
In a cold tone, he asked. âWhat do you want?â
Jade smirked as if offering a precious gem and said. âHow about we join forces? You continue to gain her trust and inform me of her every move. We can work together from within and without, seize the opportunity, and bring her down.â
âNo! Donât kill her directly!â Nancy shouted, her eyes gradually revealing malice. âGive her to me. I suffered in prison, and she must experience all the suffering I went through. I want her to taste extreme pain and die full of regret!â
Edgar pursed his thin lips lightly. His face showed little expression, but his hand clenched tightly in his sleeve, the knuckles turning white,
He looked at Jade and calmly asked, âWhy should I join forces with you when I can handle it myself?â
âBut this time, the plan to have Nancy appear at the charity event was well executed. It didnât seem like your style, cousin. If you want to cooperate, you need to show sincerity and make me see the value of working with you.â
Being called âcousin, Jade felt somewhat pleased. She thought for a moment and believed that if they were going to cooperate, they should indeed be open and honest with each other.
âI didnât plan this incident myself. I was only responsible for its execution. But donât worry, Brother, the person behind all this is meticulous in their thinking, setting up traps one by one. If you cooperate with us, you wonât lose out.â
âIs that so?â He smiled gently. âThen who is this person?â
âI canât tell you that just yet, Brother. Letâs wait until you uncover the first thing about Grace, something that allows us to trust each other. Then, I will tell you.â
Edgar glanced at Eric, his deep anger no longer concealed in his eyes.
âNo, I canât wait until then. I want to know now!â

As soon as the words fell, one of the bodyguards behind Jade suddenly groaned, his eyes bulging. and he clutched his throat in a grotesque manner. Blood flowed continuously through his fingers.
He
struggled for only a second before collapsing to the ground, lifeless.
Eric, standing behind him, took out a tissue and gently wiped the small knife in his hand, his expression numb.
Jade and Nancy, both women, were shocked by this sudden turn of events.
âEdgar!â
âBrother, what are you doing?â
Edgarâs eyes brimmed with intense hostility as he tore apart the so-called truth in his hand and coldly glared at Nancy on the ground.
âIt doesnât matter anymore who saved me back then. Even if it was truly you, I gave you money to support your education and satisfy all your vanity. That debt has been repaid. Now, the person I love is her, and sheâs the one I want to protect. You have harmed her so many times. Itâs time to settle this score.â
Nancy c
collapsed to the ground, disbelief written all over her face as she covered her mouth and cried in pain.
Jade gritted her teeth in anger. âSo you wanted to cooperate earlier as a deliberate deception? To lower my guard and have me killed?â
Edgar didnât argue. He turned his head and instructed Eric, âTake them all back to the villa. Let Grace personally settle the score.â
âYes, Boss.â
Eric took out a medicated handkerchief and approached Jade first.
Jade took two steps back, pressed against the door, and chuckled.
âCousin, you didnât actually think the person behind me hadnât anticipated this, did you? Since your refuse to cooperate, letâs see if you can make it out alive with us!â
