Chapter 182
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 182
As expected, the little troublemaker, Grace, couldnât afford any suffering.
Patric shook his head and sighed, vowing to never mess with this little ancestor again.
On the other end of the phone, Chris was oblivious to the fact that he had fallen into a trap. âI heard from Patric that you have been collecting evidence on the Evans family lately. I happened to take a look at a file and will have Patric fax it to your work computer tomorrow.â he said.
Grace chuckled inwardly. Did he really think she had the time to âhappened to take a lookâ things over?
She had planned to wait until after she was punished to bring this up. So, does this count as a slap and a sweet date? It felt a little uncomfortable to think about, but she considered it payback for her brotherâs broken promise.
Not bad at all! And there was no reason not to have the evidence delivered right to her door. Grace sweetly replied, blowing off Chrisâs empty promises before finally ending the call.
Due to Edgar being in the hospital it was quite late by the time Grace finished kneeling. She casually tidied up a room and let Patric spend the night at Cloud View Villa.
The next morning, Grace went to work as usual. The evidence that Chris had promised was quickly sent to her via fax. She typed it out and carefully reviewed its contents. True to form, her big brother was efficient.
The evidence was detailed enough to ensure that Jade would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Tomorrow, she would bring doomsday upon the Evans family.
She called May for a meeting, and before she knew it, she was busy until the afternoon. Thinking about Edgar still recovering from his injuries in the hospital, she pondered for a moment before calling Fifteen and instructing him to find something small.
When it was time to leave work, Grace packed up and headed back to Cloud View Villa. Upon arriving, she unexpectedly ran into Eleven?! She frowned and asked, âWhy are you back? Werenât you supposed to be guarding the hospital?â
Eleven explained, âMr. Fallen said he didnât want to stay in the hospital âHe was discharged so soon?â Grace fell silent for a moment. She had originally planned to visit him at the hospital that night. Now that they were all back, it seemed like their injuries had almost healed. She took a step forward and was about to enter when Eleven leaned closer and whispered, âMiss, I think somethingâs off with Mr. Fallen this time.â
âSo, you think so too?â It appeared that he was truly acting strangely. Grace furrowed her brows, her gaze deepening.
Eleven nodded. âAs soon as Mr. Fallen returned, he went straight into his room and hasnât come out since.
âAlright, I understand.â With a solemn expression, Grace walked directly into the villa and made her way to the second floor. Edgarâs room door was closed but unlocked. Grace pushed it open and entered. The bed was empty, without a single indentation.
Edgar was quietly lying on a reclining chair by the window, dressed in an expensive dark suit. Though it was late autumn and the sunâs warmth was absent, it cast a faint halo, accentuating his handsome and perfect profile, making his face appear as cold and god-like as ever,
However, as Grace got closer, she noticed that his thin lips were dry and dark, his face was deathly pale, devoid of any trace of color, and he seemed terribly sick. âDonât lie on your back. Itâll hurt your back,â she said.

Edgar was lost in the beauty of the sunset and didnât notice her until she approached him.
âYouâre back.â he said, quickly getting up from the reclining chair. âI got distracted and lost track of time.
Are you hungry? Iâll cook something now.â
âNo need. If youâre not feeling well, take the day off and rest, Grace said, holding his shoulder gently and guiding him back to sit down.
As she touched him, she realized his body was unnaturally cold, devoid of any warmth. Grace.
furrowed her brows. âWhy are you so cold? Your face looks terrible. Is your back injury still painful?â
Edgar forced a smile and reassured her. âThe pain is gone. Itâs just because Iâve been lying down for so long that my hands and feet are cold. But Iâm fine. Iâll rest for a couple of days now that Iâm back.â
Grace didnât believe him for a moment. His voice sounded weak, and his eyelashes trembled occasionally. Why did he always seem like he was hiding something?
âSit down. Let me check your injury,â she said, ready to remove his suit jacket.
But Edgar clutched the collar tightly, refusing to let go. âThe injury is really fine. Itâs almost healed, and itâs all bandaged up. Even if you take off my clothes, you wonât see anything.
Grace reluctantly let go, feeling frustrated. Edgarâs body slumped slightly as he lost support, but he quickly propped himself up with his hands on the reclining chair.
Noticing Graceâs gaze fixed on him, a lazy smile tugged at the corner of his pale lips. âItâs rare to see you caring about me so much,â he remarked.
Grace rolled her eyes at him. But considering that he had indeed saved her this time, she resisted the urge to mock him and put on a serious expression.
know, I donât like owing favors. You saved me, so Iâll grant you a request. What do you want?â
âYou she asked.
âAnything?â Edgar raised his head slightly, his black eyes glimmering with a hint of excitement.
Grace clarified, âExcept for remarriage and romantic requests, Iâll do my best to fulfill any other.
reasonable requests.â
Edgar chuckled. She knew he only wanted one thing. Well, he didnât have much time left anyway.
âAlright then, stand still,â Edgar said, Grace nodded and assumed a steady posture.
Edgar let go of the reclining chair, sat up straight, and boldly wrapped his arms around her waist, drawing her into a warm embrace. His entire body was cold, but this hug brought warmth to his
heart.
âIs that it?â Grace was taken aback. Was his request really that simple?
âMmm Edgar murmured. Grace remained motionless, standing stiff as he obediently rested his head on her stomach and held her tightly.
After standing quietly for a while, Grace suddenly realized her hands were hanging awkwardly. Since it was his request, it wouldnât be right not to hug him back.
She subconsciously reached out towards his back, intending to give him a reciprocal âfake hug.â
However, her hand paused mid air, remembering his back Injury. Her fingers stiffened for a Inoment before she gently touched his head instead.
â
His short, dark black hair felt neat and smooth, soft to the touch. Graceâs fingers lingered, unable to Stop
Edgar furrowed his brow. Why did I feel like Grace was petting a dog? He was starting to grow tired
of being in Graceâs embrace, but he didnât want to let go. After realizing this contradiction, he released his hold on her and smirked.
âOkay, my request has been fulfilled. You donât owe me anything.â he declared.
Grace withdrew her hand, which had been affectionately stroking his head. After a moment of contemplation, she took out a delicate black and gold gift box from her coat pocket and handed it to
him.
âThis is the gift I want to give you,â she said.
Edgar looked at her with suspicion, wondering if she had given him an opportunity to make a request just to test his intentions. Did she want to see if his request would be greedy or excessive?
Taking the gift box from Grace, he hesitantly opened it, his fingertips trembling slightly. Inside was a small vial containing an injection, similar in size to the special medicine he had been injected with before.
âWhat is this?â he asked, furrowing his brow as he looked at her with complicated eyes.
Grace explained calmly, âItâs the antidote for the special medicine I gave you earlier, the 023 Dispensing Medicine. It wonât cause any pain. After you take the injection, your body will soon return to normal.â
Edgar bit his lower lip, a mixture of emotions welling up inside him. He forced himself to inhale deeply before asking. âWhyâ whatâs the meaning of this? Didnât we agree that our employment. agreement wouldnât be terminated until the designated period ended? Are you trying to sever ties with me completely?â
