Chapter 224
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 224
Eder held his breath and turned around.
Grace was sitting on the sofa by the window with her back to him. She was drinking red wine.
He clenched his hands so tightly that his palms began to sweat. He thought with some excitement, âIs it possible that sheâs drunk again?â
âWill she be as gentle as she was two nights before?
âWho would have thought, Mr. Grant, that it was actually you who planned this engagement? Donât you think you should explain this to me?â
Eder tugged at the doorknob in despair.
Graceâs speech was clear and steady, so she probably only had two glasses of wine. It meant that she wasnât drunk!
Tonight, he was done for.
But he still hadnât figured out how to face herâ¦
He quickly walked towards the window with a plan to jump out and run away.
Grace informed him casually, âGrandfather had the windows locked in advance. I heard that itâs bulletproof. It wonât shatter even if you try to break it.â
This time, he couldnât escape.
Eder touched his face subconsciously. He was still wearing the silver mask. It should not be so easy for Grace to recognize him. With this in mind, he stepped away from the door completely.
He cleared his throat. âMs. Smith is joking. I donât know you. I chose to get engaged to you just because I thought you were the most suitable candidate.â
Grace put down the red wine glass and looked back at him. I already told you last time that I like
someone elseâ¦â
Her voice suddenly stopped.
The man standing by the window was dressed in a neat suit and bore a tall and straight frame. Just standing there like that hit her with a deep-rooted feeling of familiarity.
Her expression gradually froze, and she carefully studied the man from top to bottom.
Eder noticed the change in her expression and swallowed a lump in his throat which felt as if his Adamâs apple got stuck.
âMr. Grant, you seem familiar.â
Grace stood up, her brows knitted together, and slowly walked towards Eder.
âMs. Smith, you must be mistaken. We havenât met before.â
His eyes were cold and his voice was deep and h oar se.
Grace looked at his extremely familiar black eyes, and her eyes gradually turned red.
She suddenly Junged forward and grabbed him by the collar. Because of the force, she ended up.
pressing him hard against the windowpane.
âWhat are you pretending for? Edgar, do you think I wonât recognize you if you wear a mask? Your eyes, your every little gesture- You can fool others but not melâ

Chapter 224
Eder was numb.
Should he confess?
Would Grace feel betrayed because he had been lying to her right from the start?
She hated being deceived the most. The fact that she didnât like him in the first place, wouldnât she hate him even more if he told the truth?
âWhy did you never show up when youâre not actually dead? How and why did you become Eder?
What happened? Edgar! Give me a reasonable explanation!â
Grace clutched his collars even tighter. She was trembling in shock, doubt, and anger.
âMs. Smith, Iâ¦â
âWhat did you just call me?!â
Grace raised her other hand, bent it, and swung it hard, mercilessly elbowing his stomach.
âHissâ¦â
Ederâs face contorted in pain. He bent forward instinctively, but Grace grabbed his collar and pushed him back against the window glass.
It wasnât that he couldnât fight back. He was just afraid of hurting her since he didnât know how to control the strength of his fist.
But Grace was different.
Every time she made a move, she used all her strength.
That little face glared at him angrily. Her mind was almost consumed by emotions that she wasnât thinking logically anymore.
All she thought of was the fact that Edgar wasnât dead. He was alive!
But why didnât he come to her?
And why did he act like he didnât know her?
âYou still wonât admit it? Fine! Iâll find out for myself!â
She reached out to remove his mask.
Eder grabbed her hand tightly. âMs. Smith, itâs the first time we officially meet tonight. Wouldnât it be inappropriate for you to touch me?â
âYouâre my fiance. Whatâs wrong with me touching you? Why wonât you let me see your face? If youâre really just Eder and not Edgar, then why are you nervous?!â
*I..
Grace didnât give him a chance to argue at all. With her elbow, she hit his stomach again.
While he doubled over in pain, Grace quickly took off his mask.
The air seemed to stand still for two seconds.
Grace looked at his face in shock.
Except for the eyes, almost all of his other facial features had changed..
But his eyes and his small movements could not deceive her.
He was obviously Edgar!
âWhy is your face different? Youâre wearing a leather mask, arenât you?â She ruthlessly grabbed his 13:14
face and began pinching here and there, trying to remove his disguise.
Eder locked her little hand to chest and said seriously, âItâs because Iâm Eder. Itâs always been Eder!â
âI donât believe it! Did you have plastic surgery? Do you think I wonât recognize you anymore if you changed your face? Are you capable of picking out your eyeballs and replacing them?!â
She gritted her teeth angrily.
But
apart from the similarity, she really could not find other proof on Ederâs face.
Then she recalled that during the accident, Edgarâs back had suffered serious burns and whiplashes.
She broke free from his restraint and started to lift his clothes shamelessly.
Eder: âIsnât it too fast for you to take off my clothes?â
âShut up! Turn around! If youâre not guilty, let me check!â
âFine. You can check.â
Eder raised his hands and allowed her to do whatever she wanted.
Although the suspicion was killing Grace, she wasnât too shameless as to actually strip him.
Instead of taking off his clothes one by one, she pulled the hem of his shirt that was tucked under his belt and lifted it up together with the suit.
The back that met her had well-defined muscles and was glowing in bronze under the room lighting. It was a smooth back.
There was no single indication of an injury. Even before Edgar could have the chance to look for her in the mountains, he was caught and cut by his elder brotherâs men so he gained a deep scar on his waist. However, there was nothing on Ederâs body.
Graceâs eyes trembled. She slowly let go and retreated all the way to the bed.
She sat on the bed dully, eyes downcast in disappointment.
Her sense of reason gradually returned.
Edgar was dead, and she was even the one who buried his ashes.
Moreover, the family backgrounds of Edgar and Eder were different.
Her heart throbbed, and the feeling of despair that she thought she had lost welled up.
But in front of Eder, she forcibly held back her tears.
âI really am mistaken.â
Eder breathed a sigh of relief. When he turned around, he saw Graceâs lowered eyes. Her whole person looked very discouraged.
He asked tentatively, âDid you recognize me as your ex-husband? It seems like you still have feelings for him.â
Grace pursed her lips and did not answer, ignoring him.
She stood up, sat back on the sofa, grabbed the half-empty bottle of red wine on the table, and poured it directly into her mouth.
âMs. Smith!â
Eder sna tched the bottle. âYour body wonât be able to take it.â
âSponer or later, our engagement will be cancelled. You should take care of yourself instead.â
Her face was indifferent and her tone was emotionless as she opened another boule of red wine.
Edgar sn atched it away again.
âSince you want to drink, then Iâll accompany you.â
Eder sat on the sofa opposite her and filled two glasses of red wine. However, as soon as they were filled, Grace took both glasses and drank all the contents.
As if it wasnât enough, she picked up the entire bottle and drank from it.
The price for her recklessness was that she was drunk again.
Seeing that she seemed to be out of it, he felt a little distressed. He walked around the coffee table and took away the wine in her hand.
âStop drinking. Iâll carry you to bed.â
Grace did not struggle and let him pick her up.
The smell on Ederâs body was too familiar.
It was eroding her sanity little by little, making it impossible for her to calm down and think rationally.
âEdgarâ¦â
Eder was about to get up and go to the bathroom to get a towel to wash her face when he suddenly heard her mumble. His whole body froze in place.
He was stunned for a few seconds before he turned around in disbelief to look at Grace who was asleep on the bed.
âWhat did you just call me?â
