Chapter 3| Freedom.

Why am I doing this?

Because you're a stupid coward, who doesn't know how to say no, that's why!

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I looked so beautiful, I didn't even look like me. But I didn't look happy, I wasn't glowing like most girls on their weddings.

I was having a internal battle with myself, whether I should just marry him, love was so rare nowadays, I probably wouldn't find anybody else, or just leave, why spend the rest of your life with somebody you can't stand.

I let out a deep sigh, and placed my hand on my stomach.

"Hungover?" The make-up artist asked giggling, "Bachorlette parties are always so fun and exciting!"

I chose not to say anything, that wasn't the reason. I hadn't touched a drink last night, except for the bottled water that I had drank before we left.

"Rylee, you look amazing. Dennis sure is a lucky guy." Mystic from work, grinned, crouching down to be at my level. All my friends are tall.

"He is, I would do anything to have a wife as pretty at you." Monique gushed, placing both hands on her cheeks. Why are they talking? Stop talking!

God, I felt so sick. I felt last night's dinner rush up my throat.

"Mommy?" Andre, Diamond's son called energetically, "What's happening to Aunty Rylee?

"She's getting married." Diamond briefly explained, stroking his head.

"Why?" He asked and my heart stopped beating and the realization kicked in. Why? Why was I getting married?

I quickly, closed my eyes, grabbing onto the handle of the chair, struggling to stand up.

"Are you alright?" Kiki a friend from college, questioned worridly, as I jogged past her and straight into the bathroom, where my dinner came out.

"Oh, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Rylee? Are you alright?" Monique cried, covering her eyes, the sight of vomit making her feel ill.

"Rylee? What's wrong? You can tell us, We're your friends." Wendi, my friend from college reassured me, as I began to sob.

Diamond rushed up to me and held me close. Now I was crying hysterically.

"Can you give us a moment?" Diamond requested, stroking my hair as I cried on her chest.

All my bridesmaids walked out of the bathroom murmuring among themselves. I knew none of them really like Diamond, so this clearly irked them.

"Rylee." Diamond called.

I ignored her and countinued to cry.

"Rylee!" She repeated louder this time.

I didn't say anything.

"Rylee you're pregnant aren't you?" She asked.

I nodded my head slowly, feeling so ashamed of myself. The memory of the night flashing through my brain. We were both so drunk, I wasn't thinking.

"You're pregnant and you never thought to tell me!" she whisper-shouted. Even if I had told Obama it wouldn't change the fact that I was still pregnant.

"What do I do?" I sobbed hysterically, "I don't want it, but I do want it."

Diamond held me by my shoulders and shook me.

"It's Dennis's right?" She asked stupidly, what did she take me for? Her fingers were crossed.

"Of course it is." I growled, grabbing the toilet seat and throwing up again, I rested my face on the toilet and began to cry again.

Her face went blank as she stared at me for the longest time, "I'm surprised you guys still sleep together."

It hadn't been intentional, we'd both went to a party and got drunk.

"Is everything alright?" The make-up artist called, gently knocking on the door.

"Yeah, one sec." I muttered, standing up, though my legs felt like jelly and opening the door after washing up.

"Are you ok?" All the girls asked me in unison, pulling me into a group hug.

I nodded my head slowly.

"Then let's get your make-up done, we haven't got much time." The make up artist smiled softly, outstretching her hand.

I shook my head, "No, I can't, I don't want to wear make-up anymore." I refused.

"B-but." The make-up artist protested, but I still continued to shake my head.

I took out my purse, and scooped out the money I owed her slowly nodded my head. She deserved it, she was kind.

"You guys begin to head out." I instructed, "I'll be out in a few, let's get this party started!"

They all began cheering, while leaving the room one by one.

I turned around to face Diamond, my vision blurry from unshed tears, "We haven't got much time."

"I'll be quick." Diamond, began scribbling some details on a piece of paper, before handing it to me. "If you go to Anita's house she will take you in instantly, okay?"

"And if she doesn't?" I asked, accepting the scrap paper.

"Come back here and I'll look after you ok but I know she will." Diamond replied, hugging me.

Anita was Diamonds cousin. When Diamond and I were little she would sometimes play with us. Then we ended up going to the same college.

"What about the dress?" I asked worridly, glancing at the beautiful dress that I had bought.

"I'll return it to the monster." Diamond joked, making me smile at her lame attempt to cheer me up.

Diamond handed me a pen and I sighed loudly.

Dear Dennis (and everyone else that wasted their time and money)

I am sorry, I just can't do this anymore. I care for you Dennis, but I just can't marry you I no longer love you and I'm so sorry that you wasted your money and time but I just can't do it. I hope later in life you manage to find it somewhere in your heart to forgive me and know that it was for the best.

Forgive me.

♡ Rylee Jordan

I handed the letter to Diamond who handed me her oversized t-shirt and a midi skirt way to big for me. I tucked the t-shirt into the skirt and twirled.

"Thanks," I mumbled, pulling her into an awkward hug.

"Hurry Rylee." She pushed me off her, "Before someone sees."

"Bye." I waved, giving her a sad smile pulling away and picking up my suitcase and waving one more time before sprinting down the hallway.

I got in the taxi. This was crazy. I was leaving peaceful Essex for wild London and boy was I nervous.

I bit my lip. I felt sick again. How long was this morning sickness going to last? What was I going to do with the baby? Raise it alone? Give it up for adoption? ...abort it?

No of course I wouldn't do that. I would raise this baby all by myself.

I handed the taxi driver the address and put my by bag on the chair and looked out the window.

I had been to London a few times for job related reasons of course. That was back when I had a job.

I wonder what is going on. The service has started 5 minutes ago.

The taxi driver turned up the radio. I rested my head on the window listening to the news.

"Today on Women of Tomorrow, he have an interview with the amazing fabulous Mrs Olive Reynolds." The voice yelled, making me cringe as I closed my eyes tighter.

"I'm so honoured to be here." The other voice gushed, the faint French accent still present.

"We are honoured to have you here, truly. Now Olive we have a few questions for you."

"Ooh, I'm nervous." She, Olive, giggled.

"Rumour has it that you're expecting your third child. Is that true?"

"Well, Sebastian and I were hoping to keep it a secret for a little longer. But yes it is true, we're expecting and we're both over the moon. He just keeps on blabbing on about how excited he is. It's adorable."

"Gender?"

"Now, that's a suprise. Nobody knows expect me and the doctor." She giggled again.

"And the kids, how did they react?"

I heard their voices began to grow fainter and fainter as I began to fall asleep.

"Sorry miss, we're almost there we should be arriving there soon, but we're stuck in a little bit of traffic." The driver explained.

"It's fine." I mumbled groggily, using the back of my hand to wipe my mouth.

Does Anita even know I'm on ny way? I sighed and typed in her number and called her.

She picked up the phone almost instantly.

"Hey Lee, I've been waiting for you to call me, for ages." She exclaimed, dragging on the 'ages.'

"Sorry I fell asleep," I muttered, not in the mood for her joyful attitude. I felt ill, and after hearing about someone dying during childbirth. I shuddered at the thought.

"Only you Lee." she laughed loudly. She always had had a boisterous laugh, and it never really matched her personality.

"Diamond told me everything and if course you can stay with me and Amber May." She continued, "Amber is already clearing out her room for you to sleep in."

"Really? There's no need for that but, thank you so much." I asked my eyes widening with shock. Poor little Amber-May, having to give up her room.

"There is, she's so small and has such a large room, but it's no problem, really, that's what friends are for, right?" She asked, "Amber, who is going to wash your dish?" She yelled.

"Right, thank you." I hung up the phone after the only response I got was her, yelling at Amber. I turned off my phone as stuffed it in my pocket.

The driver and I sat in silence until the traffic finally started to move again.

My stomach was in knots. I was finding it hard to breath.

I looked down at my stomach and rubbed it slightly. I didn't see any differences, I still looked the same.

"Got a bun in the oven?" the driver asked looking at me through the rear view mirror.

It took me a while before realizing what he meant.

"Yeah." I nodded looking down at my stomach.

"How far along are you?" he asked me.

"About six or seven weeks." I replied shortly, not really want to talk to anyone.

"Congratulations, having a baby is truly a wonderful thing. You and the father must be so proud." He beamed, "I know I was when my wife got pregnant with twins."

"Twins?" I asked shocked. Imagine having to double everything. "How old are your twins now?" I asked him.

"Seven going to be eight in eight days." he smiled proudly.

"Do you have any other kids kids?" I asked him, trying to make conversation.

"Erm.. no. My wife can't have anymore children, so we are thinking of adoption." he replied briefly honking the horn at the man in front of us, who was driving like a turtle. "My wife and I would like to adopt a little boy, as we already have two girls"

"Oh twin girls." I gasped "Lucky! I hope I have a little girl."

"They're quite the cliche twins, one is loud, the other quiet, one girly, the other tomboy." he explained moving a little bit forward and turning down the radio.

"Ah, that's so cute."

We soon got off the highway, and entered this small estate.

I saw Anita, standing there with her arms around her younger sister, Amber.

Their parents had died in a car accident, five years ago, when Amber was just a baby.

Anita's face lit up when she saw me and rushed over towards the car.

I thanked the driver and climbed out of the car, taking my small bag with me. He gave me a small wave before driving off.

"It's been ages." She grinned hugging me tighter.

"Yeah." I agreed, holding her. I was so grateful for what she was doing for me.

"And you still haven't grown." she joked ruffling my hair.

"You must be Amber, you're adorable." I smiled at the young girl standing in front of me, her hands were behind her back and she was avoiding eye-contact. Cutie.

She nodded her head shyly and rushed off to stand behind Anita's leg.

"Amber, Help Aunty Rylee carry her bags." Anita instructed, pointing to my large suitcase. If I could hardly carry it, then how would she be able to carry it?

"No it's fine I've got it." I smiled reassuringly, as I grabbed my suitcase.

"Are you sure...?" Anita asked "I mean in your condition."

"I'm only pregnant, not suffering from a dangerous disease." I joked grabbing my suitcase. "I'll be fine."

I followed her two flights of stairs then we were in her apartment.

"Amber, move your toys from the couch so that Lee can sit down." Anita instructed, I noticed Amber roll her eyes as she picked up the toys and threw then in her toy box.

Now that I was here Amber just became a maid or something!

"Do you want anything to drink? We have water, or juice, tea maybe?"

"Water is fine, please" I replied, sitting back and testing my back in the comfort of the very soft cushions.

"Amber, get Lee some water."

"Actually, nevermind, I'm not thirsty." I lied, as I watched Amber hold her breath and puff out her cheeks in anger after being ordered about again.

"Have you been to the docters to confirm it?" Anita asked, rubbing her hands together as if she meant buisness.

"Well... no. But I took a few tests, and they all came back positive." I lied, I had only take two.

"How many tests?" She asked.

"Two." I replied honestly, as I slumped back.

"Two isn't enough!" She exclaimed, jumping to her feet, "You need to times that by 10." She informed me pulling me up, "We're going to test you."

I groaned loudly, I hated taking the tests and touching them after they were all sticky and disgusting.

"Amber we're going to Boots, When I knock you best open the door or else." She threathened lightly as she opened the front door.

"Bye." Amber called from her bedroom as we stepped outside of the apartment and closed the door.

"She's so well behaved." I beamed.

"Mom and Dad thought her well, beat her into shape."

I stated at all the pregnancy tests scattered around me.

"Damn." Anita commented, "Every single one of them says positive."

"Are you having a baby?" Amber asked, holding the pregnancy box.

"Yeah." I replied, smiling awkwardly.

"Is it in your belly?" She asked, glancing at my belly, I nodded. "YOU ATE IT?!" She accused, absolutely petrified as she jumped behind her older sister.

"Oh God, no Amber." Anita laughed, pulling Amber onto her lap. Amber wrapped her arms tightly around her sister and warily glanced at me.

Later on at night, while I was cooped up in Amber's small princess bed. I couldn't help but wonder about Dennis. He was probably passed out somewhere.

Maybe with one of my bridesmaids.
