Chapter 7| Jacob Reynolds.

Oliver loved his new cars, but I'm beginning to think he loves them a little too much. He doesn't sleep unless they're lined up by his bed so that they're the first thing he sees when he wakes up, and the sound he makes when he playing with them was so exasperating, that some times, I just wanted to pick up the cars and fling them out the window.

Having to hear "Nyoom." Or "Vroom." Every 5 minutes really does something to you.

I sat on the couch, watching him play as I finished feeding Olive. We were getting better at it, it didn't take as long and it didn't hurt as much.

Olivia was at dance, I could tell she loved it very much. She was always practicing some sort of dance move and when he caught me watching she'd always stop and glare.

She didn't bother to hide her hatred for me, and I can't seem to think what I've done to offend her.

Olive's head, began to slide of my chest, so I picked her up and lay her in the baby swing, pressing the button and letting her automatically swing. This is why I loved this so much.

"Come on, Oliver." I called, gesturing for him to come, "Let's get you a snack." He bent down and picked up his cars before rushing over to me.

I scooped him up and placed him in his high chair, he began playing with his cars while I looked for something for him to eat.

My phone rang while I was searching for food for Oliver.

Mr Reynolds😾

I couldn't help but wonder why he was calling. Did he do that to all his workers? Or only me?

"I hope you're calling to apologise for leaving me with Mr-Vroom-and-Nyoom." I jokes lightly and I heard him laugh. For real this time.

"I was actually calling to check if you're still alive." His sounded dead serious but I couldn't help but giggle.

"And about the car, Miss Jordan , I payed for it yes, but the rest is completely on you Miss Jordan." I rolled my eyes, "Maybe you should sit on these ones too." He teased and I laughed.

"Atleast I'm not falling over them, Mr Reynolds, if I remember correctly you almost tripped over his cars three times yesterday." I laughed, I heard him chuckle as I continued searching the fridge for some fruit for Oliver to eat. "3 hours, non stop. I've never seen him so excited."

He laughed. Then another voice came in and I heard him sigh. There was some inaudible murmuring before I heard him sigh again.

"What are you up to now?" He wanted to know.

"Just looking for a snack for Oliver, preferably fruit but there's hardly any. I might just go out and buy some." I replied honestly.

"No peaches." He reminded, and I nodded.

"No peaches." I repeated, the doorbell rang interrupting our friendly moment. "Mr Reynolds, I've got to go, there's someone at the door."

"Are you expecting somebody?" He questioned, as the doorbell rang again.

"No, but I've got to atleast go and check. It could be Carrie."

"I'll see you later, Miss Jordan. Stay safe." And with that, he hung up the phone.

I put down my phone, and walked to the door, checking through the peephole to see who it was. I finally opened the door to a man who looked almost exactly like Mr Reynolds.

He was smirking evily until he looked down at me, and the smirked was instantly wiped off his face.

"Sorry I'm looking for my cousin, erm, Sebastian Reynolds." He informed me, smiling awkwardly "We have some unfinished buisness, are you his nanny, Rylee Jordan of Essex?" He asked, not creepy at all.

"Yes, and your name is...? And what do you need here?" I demanded, narrowing my eyes at this suspicious stranger, he could be a crazed fan seeking out to kill one of us, most likely me.

"Oh,um.. Jacob" he replied rubbing his hands together nervously, "Jacob Reynolds of-."

"Come in." I interrupted, sounding a lot harsher than I intended. I didn't mean to be horrid, I just didn't trust him. There was just something about this guy, Sebastian's cousin or not.

"Sorry, the house is a bit messy," I apologised flatly, kicking one of Olivia's tea-cups out of the way, "And mine Oliver's lego, if you step on it-- just be warned, it hurts like he- a needle!"

"A needle? What are you talking about?" He questioned, clearly puzzled as he scratched the back of his neck.

"Ollie is at that age where he copies everything he hears. " I informed him ruffling Oliver's curls, "Say bad words around him, and I'll cut you." I threathened.

"Is Bash home? I need to talk to him, really quick. I won't take long. " He questioned looking around awkwardly, clearly intimidated by my threath.

Bash? Is that his nickname? Aww, it's so cute.

"No, he left less than an hour ago, and won't be back until later." I explained, pointing to the couch, "So I guess you're stuck with me."

He scratched the back of his neck, as I continued to glare at him with my hard eyes.

"Sit down then." I demanded, once again pointing to the couch.

"Yes ma'am." He quickly sat down, and continued to stare up at me like I was his dinner, though he tried to hide it.

"Is he normally like this?" Jacob asked me, as I used my free hand to hold down a screaming and squirming Oliver and my other hand to try and atleast put on a diaper for him.

"No, he's usually a lot worse. He normally slaps and bites." I shrugged, letting go of Oliver and let him jump up and run around naked.

"Ouch." Jacob remarked cringing as he caught Oliver and held him still, holding him a lot tighter than I had.

"You didn't have to, it's fine. But thank you." I took Oliver from his tight grasp and lay him down on the changing table. Even though he kicked and screamed.

"Stay still Oliver, we're almost done." I grumbled, as I finished putting on his nappy and placed him in the floor.

He ran around the room in circles, laughing as he played by himself. He was so energetic, especially before his nap time.

I watched as he fell on the floor and instantly got back up and continued running. I snatching him before he could finish he ninth lap and pulled him on my lap.

I wrapped his blanket around him and placed his pacifier in his mouth. He instantly settled down and relaxed in my arms. I brushed his hair out of his face, and kissed his forehead.

"You're good with kids. Would you like any of your own?" Jacob asked, breaking the silence.

"When the time is right, yeah." I replied hastily, as I lay Oliver down in his crib and took the blanket away.

I led Jacob out of the room and closed the door behind me. I checked the baby moniter on my phone, and saw that Oliver was sitting up and staring directly at the camera.

He stood up and began trying to climb out of his crib. I quickly opened the door and grabbed Oliver, laying him back down.

"Sleep Ollie." I instructed, and he shook his head.

"Dada." He mumbled, standing up and raising his hands in the air, "Daddy?"

I rolled my eyes and scooped him, I needed to make lunch and Oliver wasn't letting me do that.

I grabbed the baby carrier and placed Oliver inside, his head resting on my back, so I could make dinner without any distractions, and hopefully Oliver would sleep.

"Car. Appoo." Oliver mumbled, kicking his bare legs, and slapping them on my waist.

"Go to sleep baby." I replied, walking into the kitchen, past Jacob who was slumped on the couch watching snapped: killer couples.

"I'm going to try and make some apple pie, if you need anything, I'll be right next door." I informed him, before walking into the kitchen and getting my ingredients ready.

For every apple I cut up Oliver would demand that I give him a piece, he wasn't showing any signs of going to sleep, and found one strange way to entertain himself.

After he continued pulling and poking at my hair, I ended up taking him off my back and putting him in the stroller and giving him his iPad, so he could watch educational videos.

I knew too much screen time was bad, but he was driving me crazy.

"Mooo." Oliver mumbled as he watched a video, that explained what sounds animals made.

By the time I had put my pie in the oven, Oliver was sound asleep. The iPad had finally put him to sleep, but I knew if I moved him he might wake up.

My phone began to vibrate in my pocket.

Mr Reynolds😾

"Miss Jordan, I was just calling to inform you I've finished from my meeting and I'm on my way home." He told me, totally forgetting to greet me.

"And a hello to you to Mr Reynolds." I rolled my eyes, taking a seat and watching my pie bake.

"Sorry, Good day Miss Jordan, I hope all is well at home." He greeted sarcastically.

"Better." I giggled, "I'm baking pie."

"No peaches." He reminded me and I rolled my eyes.

"Of course, no peaches. How could I forget, you remind me everyday." I laughed, and I heard him chuckle.

"Just making sure."

"Oh yeah, by the way, your cousin Jacob Reynolds is here. He said you have some unfinished buisness. I told him you were away at work, so he's waiting for you."

"He's in my house?!" He exclaimed, making me jump a little. "Unfinished buisness? I haven't got any 'unfinished buisness' with the likes of him." Mr Reynolds sounded almost disgusted that Jacob was here, "Are all the kids with you?"

"No, only Oliver. Olive is asleep and Olivia at dance." I explained, what was going on?

"Bring, the baby, near you. Just incase, and next time do not let him inside my house, okay?"

"Okay." I replied, why wouldn't he say her name? Why did the kids have to be near me? What was going on?

"I'll be home soon." And with that, he hung up the phone.

I rushed out to go and get Olive, glancing warily at Jacob who was now engrossed in snapped: killer couples, that he didn't even notice me walk by.

I scooped up little Olive, who was still asleep and took a blanket from her drawer. It wasn't cold but I wanted her to be comfortable in her carseat, where she was going to use to stay until Mr Reynolds came back home.

This better be important.

I heard the front door open, and I let out the deep breath that I had been holding in. Thank God.

He slammed the door loudly behind him, waking up both Olive and Oliver.

Seriously?!

"You seriously have the nerve to show up at my house." I heard Mr Reynolds yell at his cousin.

Then I heard raised voices, he had just come in and they were arguing already.

Olive began to scream the loud noises startling her, while Oliver screamed, trying to be louder than Olive.

"Both of you get out." I ordered through gritted teeth. They both turned to look at me, Mr Reynolds eyebrow raised, while Jacob just looked furious.

"Get out." I yelled, pointing to the door. Giving them that 'don't mess with me' look.

Mr. Reynolds opened his mouth to protest but the look on my face said don't mess with me and they both left still arguing, over something stupid.

Olive continued crying and squirmed when I picked her up and began cuddling her, and trying to shush her.

"Shhh." I hushed her gently bouncing her up and down and up and down, her cries quitened down, and soon enough she was completely silent.

She was probably hungry.

I lay her back down in the carseat and picked up a toy and wiggled it in her face.

I opened the door for both men and rolled my eyes, "You can come in now."

"Finally." Jacob commented rolling his eyes, "Thought we'd be trapped out there forever."

"You're not even supposed to be in my house." Mr Reynolds grumbled, pushing him out of the way.

"Haven't you boys got something to say to me?" I demanded, glaring at both of them.

"I'm very sorry." Mr Reynolds started, and I smiled, "About my joke of my cousin, I assure you this is the last time he'll be at my house." He continued glaring at Jacob.

"I just want you to know that you're being so childish right now." I informed him, and he took a step closer to me, hovering over me.

"Don't worry, Jordan. I forgive you for kicking me out of my own house." I rolled my eyes at his immaturity and took a step backwards

He smelled so good, my heart race quickened, "What's that burning smell?"

"MY PIE!" I exclaimed, rushing off to save my pie, which thankfully hadn't burned that much, "Who wants pie?"

"I do!" Both Sebastian and Jacob replied in unison before both turning to glare at each other.

"But Sebastian you hate sweet stuff." Jacob shrugged innocently, strolling towards me, as I began cutting my pie, "You shouldn't force yourself to eat things you don't like just because you're jealous of Rylee and I's relationship." He smirked, sounding smug.

What relationship?

Sebastian looked absolutely livid, he was obviously shaking with anger, "Jealous?" He scoffed.

Then he continued, "Trust me, I'm not jealous. You two can do what you like, I personally couldn't care less."

Each word felt like a stab in the heart. He couldn't possibly mean that.

"I don't believe you." Jacob narrowed his eyes.

"I don't recall asking for your belief." Sebastian snapped, "If my kids weren't here, believe me when I say, I want to rip yo-."

"There are children here." I interrupted cutting a slice and attempting to hand in to Jacob but Sebastian stuck his hand in the way, not allowing me to touch him.

He looked furious, which irrated me because a few minutes ago he couldnt care less about what happened to me.

"No touching." He growled, shoving Jacob backwards, "Or looking." Mr Reynolds added, standing in front of me.

"There's no rule against touching or looking." I grimaced, as he brought a slice of pie to his lips.

"There is now. No man is allowed to touch you, understood?"

"I've got to go back to work." Mr Reynolds told me, as he brushed out his shirt, him and Jacob had had like a mini eating contest to see he could eat more. Mr Reynolds had won- and Jacob had gone home not long ago.

"Oh. When will you be back?" I mumbled, clearing up Oliver and Olivia's dishes.

"I'll try not to stay for too long. I want to see you before I go to bed." My heart race quickened, as the words escaped his lips, or had he been planning to say them.

"Y-you do?" I stuttered, still not turning around to face him even though he was standing right behind him.

"Yeah," he muttered, "So stay up for me?"

"We'll see." I replied hastily, trying to remain calm.

"See you later." He called walking away, soon after I heard the front door slam.

I lay on the couch, with the remote in my hands as I flipped through all the teleshopping.

I was so watching T.V. at the wrong time.

I heard the front door slam and my heart race quickened, I pretended that I didn't hear him and continued to flick through channels. Then I heard him speak with a voice that was certainly not Mr Reynolds.
