"Cecilia, you're breaking my heart, you're shaking my confidence daily." My alarm clock burst out with its usual morning wake up tune. I had thought that putting a nice song as the alarm would make we wake up more, what's the word? Civil.

But no, my alarm clock woke the beast inside of me. I groaned loudly and slammed my hand down on it to stop the analogue clock from making my morning even worse. I didn't want to wake up at all. I could just lay in my warm bed forever. I knew I had to get up or else I would be late for school, my attendance record is shocking and I want to make it a bit better this year.

I yawned, stretching my stiff arms and legs, and tiptoed to the bathroom with my underwear in my hands. I couldn't be bothered to pick out clothing in this state of mind, I'd do that when I'm out of the shower.

Since I didn't get to shower last night as I stayed up so late with all the guys - they went home at about 2am because of school - I had to wash my hair, which would make me run even later because I'd have to dry it. Coming out of the bathroom with only my towel wrapped around me when I had finished my shower and had dried my hair, I padded back to my bedroom only to see a figure lying on my bed.

I screamed bloody murder and clutched my towel even tighter around myself. I swear it was that tight I'm nearly suffocating my poor chest. I sobered up and stared at the boy sleeping on my bed. "Tyler, what the hell are you doing on my bed," I slapped him across the face lightly. I'm not that mean to slap him that hard a few brain cells popped or something.

"Huh," he frowned and sat up drowsily. I must have taken quite a while in the shower since he must have fallen asleep. "Oh," recognition flashed in his eyes. "I need a ride to school."

"I also need to get dressed," I put a hand on my hip and gave him a pointed look to get out of my room. He must have read my expression and exited my room after staggering to the door, still half asleep.

I rolled my eyes. I thought it was Nate who was the one who would come to my house in the mornings, not Tyler the ass. I stared at my wardrobe while taping my thin in thought. I wanted to wear something a little bit more outgoing than the usual jeans and tee. Problem is, I don't have anything other than plain old unflattering clothes. I sighed in frustration as I rummaged through my closet to find something semi decent to wear.

I knew I should have gone back to school shopping. I refused to though, because whenever I go with my mother she buys hippy clothes for me - which are so not my style. Emily was at some boot camp the whole summer learning how to deal with destructive things - don't even ask, I told you she was special - so I couldn't go with her either and Nate is useless when it comes to clothes shopping. He is a guy after all, not much you could expect from him other than picking out the tightest of dresses and lacy bras.

I then remembered the clothes that Emily had bought me for my birthday last year. Being the whacko she is, she bought me butt floss (a thong because apparently you have to get one for your birthday at least once) and a few tight clothing in case I ever decided to dress like a tart. I shrugged in nonchalance, not really caring what I wear anymore. I guess they'll have to do. I rummaged through my small built-in wardrobe for a few minutes before pulling out a floral crop top with ruffles and black high waisted shorts. I have no clue if they go well together, but they would have to do. At least I would make Emily happy that I'm wearing something presentable. Not wanting to step too far out of my comfort zone, I wore my all black converse for good measure.

I will forever be a converse girl.

I packed my plain black cardigan just in case I get pulled up for 'showing too much skin'. Not that I would though, because there are much more provocatively dressed girls in Octavia High than me.

Half an hour later, Tyler, Austin and I were in my car driving to school. I had packed finished getting dressed and packing my bag to go downstairs and see Austin and Tyler in the midst of a game of arm wrestling. Austin was struggling, but he held his own still even though he was two years younger than Tyler.

"Question, dearest brother," I cut the silence. We were half way to school and I had cranked the volume up of the radio in my mother's car. She had left with Nate's mom in her car, and left hers so I don't think she'd mind me taking it. Austin was in the passenger seat with Tyler banished to the back. "Did you let monkey face in this morning?"

Austin snorts out a laugh while Tyler calls me a bitch. Oh yes, we're definitely back to the hateship. "I thought it'd be hilarious," he shrugs, "I told him to lay on your bed naked, but he must've fell asleep before that could happen." I stared at him in disbelief. "Oh, I know you wished he did. You're not being Cupid anymore, Nova, Cupid's hit you," he smirks and points out a free parking spot at the school.

I grumbled, "Chinga usted."

Octavia High likes to start school different to others. The first day back after summer is an orientation day. We recite the rules (it gets very annoying over the years) and have to spend all the day (except for lunch) in the hall listening to the teachers talk about the year's lesson plans. Then, we have to choose our electives for the year.

I chose Spanish and Art, because it only made sense to do things I actually like instead of failing horrible subjects like Geography and Drama. I'm really bad at drama it isn't even funny. Today, the second day back, is the day that we get our timetable. Our names are written out on the board out the front with our designated homeroom, and then we go there and get our timetables. It's really confusing, but it's better than having to start school on the first day.

The board out the front was packed to the eyeballs with students when we got there. There are four boards for each year level - freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. Austin bid both Tyler and I goodbye and walked over to the sophomore board. I used my height to my advantage to see my name and quickly scanned the list of L's. Tyler was all the way at the start and I was dead middle so we had to separate to find them.

Nova Lockhart - Homeroom SE-F Room 26. SE was for senior year and the F was for what class I'm in. Room 26 is in the middle of the school, which is a good thing. I'd prefer if it was right at the front then I wouldn't have to walk so far, but I can't have my cake and eat it too. I felt like being a nice Samaritan and waited for Tyler to finish looking for his name. He didn't take much longer, and practically skipped over with a lazy grin on his face.

"Homeroom SE-J," he recited, "Room 8. You?"

I envied him. For one, he was right out the front of the school, and secondly, that was the class that Nate was in. He texted me this morning saying the school sent him an email telling him his homeroom and a print out for his timetable since he couldn't attend school today. Cough cough, Nate's still drunk.

"SE-F," I fist pumped, "Meaning I don't have to put up with you every morning. It's unfair that you're at the front of the school though. I'm all the way in the middle, and you know how bad I am with my attendance record. That one minute will cost me so many detentions it's not even funny," I pouted. I guess I'm in a better situation than the kids at the back, or upstairs, but oh well.

"I'm sure you're dying inside about not being in homeroom with me," he says matter-of-factly with a cocky smirk on his face. His green eyes stood out against his tanned skin and his dark brown hair was messily tousled, giving him an edgier and sexy look. Along with his prominent jawline - that was the cherry on top of the cake. He wore plain blue jeans and a white shirt with "I'm Sexy and I Know It" written on the front. Of course he would wear that, he's so cocky his ego is nearly the size of this school.

"Oh, sure," sarcasm oozed from my words. Tyler ignored my sarcasm and flung his arm around my shoulder, effectively shoving me into his muscled stomach and suffocating me. Not sure if the suffocating was because his arm is hooked around my neck, or because his muscles are smack bang against me.

Get a bloody grip.

I struggled against his vice grip, but gave up after I realised he wasn't going to let go. After thirty or so seconds of walking, I realised he was walking straight towards where we sit in the mornings. I would usually walk here with Nate, but someone is an idiot, so he is grounded and had his phone taken off him. Thank god we're neighbours and our rooms are next to each other.

Most of our friends were waiting there beside the big oak tree, along with Emily, Allie and Eloise. Eloise is Brandon's girlfriend and possibly the prettiest Asian I know. Emily is talking to Eloise and Allie is reapplying her lip gloss with a compact mirror. But, when she sees Tyler and I approaching, her expression turns to steel and she is downright furious.

I tried shrugging off Tyler's shoulders again as I was practically withering under Allie's harsh gaze, but he still wouldn't let go. "Hijo de tu puta madre," I cursed harshly under my breath (son of a bitch).

"It pisses me off when you go off on a Spanish tangent," Tyler speaks up after I gave up yet again. "But very sexy. And feisty."

I rolled my eyes, I'm so used to his comments they don't even affect me anymore. Emily and Eloise spot me and Emily starts running over to me, her shoulder bag flapping by her side as she runs. Emily has a really good fashion taste and looks gorgeous in a black skater skirt and cropped tee.

"Nova, oh dios mio," she gasps and claps her hands in excitement. We both speak Spanish to each other to confuse the people around us. "Tienes ganas!" She grins, then it fades after she realises she just made a big mistake.

"Did you just say...?" I cup my hand over my mouth to stop myself from bursting out into laughter. Emily isn't the best at speaking in Spanish - even though we have taken it together for years and years - and sometimes gets her sentences muddled up. For instance, she just said to me that she is horny.

"Shut up," she defends herself but the blush is already staining her cheeks. "Enough about me. Look at you!" Emily grins in excitement at what I am wearing. "About time you pulled out those clothes I bought you." Then, a wicked look crosses her face, "But...are you wearing the other thing."

Now it's my turn to go bright red, because she indirectly asked me if I was wearing the butt floss she bought me. "Hell no. Shut up about that."

This morning, when I came downstairs wearing a completely different outfit than usual while Ty and Austin played arm wrestling, I shocked them both. I think Austin was shocked that I actually look like a girl - I have had my fair share of 'you look like a boy' insults from him - and Tyler eventually smacked a grin on his face and did a wolf-whistle. Of course he would break the moment. I couldn't help but involuntary blush because nobody had wolf-whistled to me before.

Tyler finally shook his arm off my shoulder, and I felt a lot of tension lifted off my shoulders. I hate to say it, but it felt good - almost right - to have his arm over my shoulders. It gave me butterflies in my stomach that I desperately wanted to get rid of, because it's Tyler. The same Tyler who has made my High School life a living hell.

Emily gives me a 'well talk about this later' look and I glare at her a little. She's horrible at drama too, and her expressions are horribly obvious to onlookers, meaning Tyler chuckled under his breath. Yeah, he definitely knew what she was thinking.

I walk over to our small group, only to see Clark staring at the scene that happened before in amusement. "Cupid's been shot!" He yells over the loud crowd of people. Everyone hollers loudly and I gape at them. Are you serious?

"Qué demonios is wrong with you?" I don't like swearing in English, but I'll happily do it in Spanish.

"Oh, come on," Clark rolls his eyes, "It's so obvious." He had taken me a few meters away from the group so nobody could hear what we were saying. "Didn't you see the look on his face after I slapped your ass? Priceless."

"Oh, so you're Cupid now," I deadpan.

"Well, somebodies gotta be Cupid for Cupid," he shrugs and leaves with a smirk on his face. "By the way," he turns around, "You look hot today November." He then leaves with a wink.

What a pendejo.

Turns out I had homeroom with Emily and Eloise. I was glad, because I didn't want to have to spend fifteen minutes in the morning all by myself, and potentially fall asleep without my friends to wake me up.

We claimed the back row of the classroom, along with Jake. Jake is a really cute blonde boy who transferred from London a few years ago and who sits with us at lunch - but he's a bit of a player.

"I need your help," Eloise pleads to me half way through the short class. "I think Brandon and I are losing the 'spark'."

Oh, here goes matchmaker mode.

I frowned in thought. "If you feel like you're losing that spark, then you need to re-kindle it. Go on more dates and make the most of your relationship. Before you know it, you'll be married and there won't be time for any of that."

"Thanks so much," Eloise grins at me and I smile in return. Eloise is a gorgeous Asian descent with ombre brown hair and warm brown eyes. She and Brandon have been dating for a year or so, and they're still going strong.

Mr Noble, our homeroom teacher, hands out our timetables so we know where our classes are. I get mine in the middle of the pack since my last name starts with an 'L'.

Homeroom - SE-F Room 26

English Literature - Room 9B

Spanish - Room 14B

LUNCH

AP Chemistry - Room 12

Mathematics - Room 4

That was just for my Monday schedule. We have four subjects a day, the rest of my classes were put on others days, like my Art, Gym (it's compulsory) and Ancient History. Classes are an hour long, same as lunch break giving us time to go out and buy something if we want to.

Emily and I swapped schedules and I saw that we had Spanish and Art together. I knew we would be in Spanish together since there is only one class of it, but I didn't even know she was taking Art. Eloise and I share only first period English together. At least I would have someone to walk with to class.

Homeroom finished, and English Literature flew by quickly. Tyler wasn't in English with me - thank gosh, because my presentation are so embarrassing - and I really like our teacher for it. He's pretty optimistic and seems like he really enjoys reading.

Spanish with Emily was interesting. Miss Gonzales had given us homework already - a sheet where we had to memorise sentences and write them in Spanish to English then English to Spanish. I had already completed it in class. Coming from Spanish descent is a very helpful thing with this class. In fact, I already know what I was going to do when I leave school which is teaching Spanish in High School. Emily on the other hand, who bloody knows, but it's probably something to do with explosions because that's her favourite thing at the moment.

Emily had asked Miss Gonzales if we would get extra marks for swearing Spanish, to which the fiery teacher gave Emily the best death glare I've seen in a long time.

It was lunch time now, and I had just finished getting my lunch to sit down, when my apple was taken from my tray and Mr Ass was crunching on it like he paid for it. I took a deep breath and mustered the courage to ignore him. Two more metres and I'm at the lunch table, only two more metres. However, the mantra didn't work, because Tyler had already gotten on my nerves, enough that I wanted to cork his eyes out with my Spork.

Yours truly decided to sit next to me today, instead of his usual place at the other side of the table. Tyler and Clark weren't the only people to notice my abrupt wardrobe change, and I think it was actually a good thing. A few guys even gave me a compliment to which I replied with a bright red face. I don't take compliments well at all.

"Can't you just leave?" I slam my tray down and muster up the worst glare I could at Tyler. If only it was as scary as Miss Gonzalez' then Tyler wouldn't be pissing himself laughing at me.

"You look like a scared kitten," he wheezes out between laughs.

"Shut up asshole," I growl and stab my chicken with my plastic spork. However, my spork has other ideas, and decides to snap instead of operate properly. This only makes me angrier and Tyler laugh harder.

The rest of the lunch went smoothly after Emily practically shoved Tyler off his chair to sit beside me. We talked about this year's excursion to some lake a few hours away. Our teachers had already planned it because around now is the perfect time to go since the lake won't be so cold. Emily is petrified of things that live in the ocean - I'm practically the same thanks to her, she's brainwashed me - and Clark had to reassure her that there aren't any sharks or octopi in the Lake we are going to.

Before we all knew it, lunch was over and we all had to get back to our next classes. I had AP Chemistry next in room 26 so I quickly shuffled out of the Cafeteria to get there in time. Room 26 isn't too far away, but I still had to take a trip to the locker to dump all my books that I forgot to take out before lunch. I was too busy thinking about food than to take my books back, okay?

After getting out my plain blue notebook and shoving it in my bag, along with my calculator and maths book for the class after, I started to make my way to the room. I made it there a minute before the bell went, thankfully. I didn't really know anyone in this class - I hadn't asked anyone, truthfully - all the more because most of the football guys aren't smart enough to be in AP classes. I'm not terribly smart, but Chemistry is probably my strong spot.

There were a few lab tables spare, so I took a free one on the left side of the room in the middle of the classroom. All the back tables were taken up by Allie's friends. Allie doesn't sit with us at lunch anymore, thankfully, and I think it is to do with what she saw Tyler doing to me this morning (not in a dirty way, jeez).

I just settled at my desk and had pulled out my notebook and a pen, when Tyler crashed through the door. All the girls turned and ogled him while I groaned in frustration. Great, I have to put up with him.

He grins when he sees me and walks quickly to my table I frantically put my feet up onto the chair so he can't sit there but he just gives me an amused smirk.

"Hello Nova," he sing-songs and shoves my feet off the chair roughly. Ever heard of being gentle to girls?

"Piss off Tyler," I grumbled under my breath, wanting to face palm the desk repetitively but the teacher came in before I could.

"Ladies, gentleman," he speaks up. He's quite young and definitely attractive, but I would never ever go for a teacher. He has cropped brown hair and a chiselled face. If only he was a few years younger, I sighed to myself. "The person next to you is your seating partner for the rest of the year, enjoy. You better get used to them because if you don't you're in for a hell of a year," an evil glint glistens in his eye.

God damnit. I definitely don't like him now. But, Tyler turns and nudges me in the ribs. I give him a flat look which he returns with a cheeky grin.

Great, now I'm stuck with stupid.
