Chapter VII
Enemies Turn to Lovers
It's Friday.
The day I have dreaded, the day Zaden is making me go to the carnival with him. I just got out the shower and was staring into my closet. Do I dress nice? Well, it's not a date so I don't have to look my best, but I don't want to look like I just escaped a crack house.
I slipped into black denim shorts and a white crew body suit under neither. I was really happy with the 90's vibe fashion coming back full force. I had an hour till he was supposed to show up. I carefully did my makeup. Maybe I was doing too much? I didn't want to impress him.
It must have been twenty minutes or so when I heard the door open. Thinking it was my mom I didn't pay much to it till I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I spun around in the stool to see Zaden standing there with his hair tousled, he wore a white shirt and khakis with a black leather jackets and boots.
"Your early" I told him as my eyes met his dark green ones. I never thought his eyes would ever be warm.
"I'm starting to think you want to do more than just eye rape me Nova." he said sitting down next to me.
"What!" I screamed dropping my phone.
"I want nothing to do with you!" I yelled back kicking his leg.
"Hey, being violent won't win over any one's heart." He said catching my foot and slightly pulling on my foot making me lose my balance.
"I'm not trying to win any one's heart." I told him mockingly as I tried to pull my foot away from him, but his grip tightened around my ankle.
"Do you know whose heart I'm trying to win over?" he asked me looking deeply into my eyes.
"Not really, give me my foot back" I whinnied as I wiggled around trying to get free from his grip.
"You have really small feet" he said as he pulled my foot making me slip away from the stool, luckily, I caught myself and he let go of my foot.
"Maybe your hands are too big" I said back rolling my eyes as I fixed myself.
"Or you're just small" He said standing up, now he is towering over me like some giant.
"Whatever, no one likes...fat guys." I said and running away from him. I heard him running after me, yelling at me to come back.
"I'm not fat!" he yelled at me. I laughed running and hiding behind the corner. I couldn't hear him so I peeked over to side of the wall but couldn't see where he was. Out of nowhere I was pinned to the wall with Zadens body pressed up against mine. My breath caught in my throat as his face was centimeters away.
"I'm not fat" he whispered into my ear; his lips slightly brushed against my ear making me shiver. I placed my hand on his chest and tried to push him back, but I couldn't find it in me to actually push him away. I felt my legs tremble a little as I felt his lips on the side of my neck. As if he felt me trembling, he set his hands on my lower hips pushing me more against the wall keeping me up.
"I'm all muscle." he whispered as his eyes bore into mine.
"Say it." he told me pushing me harder against the wall.
"you're... fat" I whispered to him smirking and finally gaining my strength and pushing him away from me. As I walked back to the living room. I heard him walk after me mumbling something like as if.
"Why are you even here so early?" I asked him plopping down on the couch. Lifting my legs and placing them over his lap.
"Because a good date always comes early." he said running his fingers down my smooth exposed leg.
"This is not a date." I told him sending him a glare.
"Yes, it is." he said in a matter a fact voice.
"Isn't" I sang trying to push his hand away from my leg, but he placed his hands back.
"It's time to go on the date." Zaden said getting up grabbing my hands pulling me up with him.
"Must I go?" I whinnied as he dragged me along with him. We got outside and I slipped into the black hummer. He drove off and I looked at him as he drove. His right arm rested on the arm rest and he was steering with the left. Sometimes I felt his eyes travel to me but then go back to the road.
Soon we parked in front of an open area that had a huge carnival set up near the beach. It was starting to get dark out, so all the lights popped. I squealed and bounced in my seat as he parked the car. I unbuckled the seatbelt and jumped out of the hummer landing on the dirt ground. I started to walk towards the entrance. Zaden joined my side walking a little too close to me.
"Personal space bud" I told him slightly pushing him with my hip. He didn't even budge, he just laughed and tried to wrap his arm around my waist, but I pinched him.
"Ow" he said snapping his arm back.
"Good" I told him walking a bit faster. We got to the ticket booth and he bought us the all-night bracelets. He took the bright green slip and placed it around my wrist sticking it together then doing the same for himself. As we walked through the entrance, he once again tried to place his arm around me, but I ducked away from him. Why is he asking this way?
"Okay what do you want to do first?" he asked me, and I looked around the place. It was filled with people. Families having good times, some couples too. What do I want to do I thought?
"I want to go on that" I pointed to a huge coaster that was set up. He looked down at me and smirked.
"Are you sure about that?" he asked.
"Of course," I said grabbing his wrist pulling him along with me to the coaster. We got into the line that wasn't as long as I would have thought it would be. I stood there watching people take off screaming as they went down the steep hill and in the loops. I held on to the railing leaning forwards watching. Soon it was our turn and Zaden made us sit in the very first seat. I strapped in making the belt tighter. As soon as the ride started, I held on to tightly as I laughed.
After the ride finished, I got off and Zaden yet again wrapped his arm around me, but this time he draped it on my shoulder.
"Must you be so touchy?" I asked trying to shrug off his arm.
"Shut up, I paid for you" was all he said as he led me somewhere.
"Where we going?" I asked him.
"Must you talk so much?" he asked mocking my grammar.
"I want to know where you're taking me." I told him and he smiled down at me.
"You'll see." he said smirking stopping at a huge tent. Then it all clicked in my mind, this isn't the damn carnival it was the circus. A huge smile spread across my face as I bounced a little in my step walking into the tent. He led me to one of the front rows and we sat down. I was literally bouncing in my seat as I waited for the show.
"Well, someone is happy." Zaden said smiling as he looked down at me. I loved how he towered over me, it made me feel safe, but at the same time I hated how much taller he was then me, how I'll have to try harder to glare at him. I felt his arm slowly slip around me and his hand rested on my bare hip, he slowly traced shapes into my skin. I was about to smack his arm away, but he pinched at my skin.
"Don't, or we are leaving." he whispered into my ear, his lips brushed against neck earlobe as he spoke sending shivers down my neck.
"You're an idiot." I said turning around to him, but I didn't think he was that close to me because my lips brushed against his stubbly jaw. My breath hitched and my eyes darted from his lips back to his eyes. He held a smirk on his face as his eyes went from mine to my lips.
"You were saying?" he asked as if he's daring me to say something.
"idiot" I repeated and elbowed him in his rib cage hoping he would get that I wanted my personal space, but he let out a grunt but still kept his arm around me.
"I want cotton candy." I stated as I saw a guy walking around selling it.
"And?" he asked me with a bored tone as he leaned in a little.
"Get me some." I told him and he sighed.
"Why? You can live without it, plus the show is about to start." he said, and I glared at him.
"Fine I'll find another date to go buy me some cotton candy." I said as I was about to get up but he pulled me down and raised his hand signaling the guy over and buying a cone of each color, a pink, a blue and a purple. I let out a small moan in delight as I ripped a piece of the cotton and let it melt in my mouth.
"I think someone's enjoying it a little too much." he said, and I sent him a glare, which made him let out a rippling laugh as he ate the cotton.
"whatever" I mumbled shoving more cotton candy in my mouth.
"You know what's sweeter than cotton candy?" he asked me as he pulled me closer to him.
"Caramel? it's more of a sugar based." I said a little confused on what he's getting at.
"No, you are." he whispered making me laugh.
"That was stupid." I told him rolling my eyes at his stupid joke.
"But I got you to laugh." he said smiling down at me. Why was my heart beating so fast.
