The one with the live.
You're my captain. (Hailee Steinfeld)
"...and then Alex dared my dad that I couldn't lift him like the lift in dirty dancing, so obviously they became a challenge-"
"Obviously."
"Obviously. So we did it but, in my dads words, he was still carrying some christmas weight. So when I lifted him I moved my leg back to support myself and I just felt my hamstring go. We both just completely collapsed on the floor in a pile. Not my best moment." Parker finished speaking so she took a chance to take a bite of the taco in front of her. Her and Hailee had ended up ordering take out and had been sat on her sofa eating between conversation for the past 20 minutes.
Hailee laughed and leant into Parker, bumping shoulders with her. "Your dad and Alex sound adorable."
"They are. But also as equally too much. Alex is the best thing that's happened to my dad, though."
"Can I ask a question? If you don't wanna answer it it's totally okay." Hailee paused whilst Parker nodded. "You said that your dad and Alex met when you were really young...and you said he adopted you when you were a teenager...how come you don't call him dad?"
Parker but the inside of her cheek in thought before answering. "I don't know. It's not something we've ever talked about, y'know? Like, I think of him as my dad. If anyone asks, he's my dad, not my dads husband. But we've always been comfortable with me calling him Alex. I love him and he loves me and we've never felt the need to change that."
Hailee nodded along, the bond between the two clear by how Parker speaks about him. "That's nice. I wan-" Hailee was interrupted mid sentence by her phone quacking, the tone she set for her agent. She held up her finger as she picked her phone up, groaning when she sees the message. "Shit. I promised her a few weeks ago I'd do a TikTok live today...promoting Dickinson and stuff like that."
Parker wiped her mouth with a napkin quickly. "Oh, okay, should I head out now or can I eat my last taco?" She asked as she eyed the last one on her plate, turns out pleasing a stupidly hot girl really builds up your appetite.
Hailee scoffed before clicking on the TikTok app. "Don't be silly. I want you here. This will just take like 30 minutes. You eat your damm taco. Here, put the tv on it'll probably entertain you more." Hailee passed the remote control over to Parker once she had put it on mute.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course."
"Why Tiktok?" Parker asked as she selected the right channel she wanted.
Hailee shrugged. "I dunno. It's very much like the in thing though isn't it." She replied as she went on her profile and began her live, waving into the camera as viewers piled again. Parker leaned across slightly, so she was still out of frame, to peak at the numbers, eyes widened as they short up thousands at a time. Hailee let out a laugh as she watched her. "Hey guys, fancy seeing you here." Hailee spoke into the camera. She noticed just at the edge of the screen you could see Parker's shoulder against hers, just that there shoulders were touching, there was nothing distinctive. She decided she didn't care, she doesn't want to actively hide Parker anyway. Not that she's hers to hide...sort of.
"Are you guys..." Hailee trailed off as she watched Parker trying to mouth something to her. She furrowed her eyebrows and laughed. "You can speak."
"Can I have your tortillas?" Parker spoke quietly.
Hailee let out a laugh before nodding. "Sure...how was that what you were miming?" Parker didn't answer, just shrugged and pulled Hailee's tortillas closer to her so she can finish them off as she watched the latest Premier League Replay on ESPN.
Hailee turned back towards the camera and waved, ignoring the questions about asking who's there. "Hi guys. Hey." She paused and glanced up at the tv. "Dude the beginning of this shit is always so weird." She laughed when she seen Parker nod out the side of her eye. "How's everybody been doing? I missed you guys, it's been a second."
âââââââââââââ-///ââââââââââââ
Hailee had been on her live for the past 30 minutes, and Parker can't help but smile how happy she is interacting with fans and answering questions. She's talking about depression, the long term effects of Covid, music, basically anything her fans have asked her about. Parker was perfectly content sitting next to her with Martini on her lap whilst she watched her soccer game replay. Every now and then Hailee would reach her hand over and place it on Parker's thigh for no reason. Parker couldn't help but note how natural this all feels.
"...okay wait one second." Hailee spoke into her camera as Parker seen her mute her microphone. "Do you mind if I stay on just a bit longer? I promise it won't be too long."
Parker looked at Hailee with confusion. "Does it look like I mind?" She said as she gestured to her body, feet up on the coffee table, Martini on her lap, and an empty bowl of tortilla chips next to her. Hailee laughed before making sure her head was off camera and leaning into kiss Parker's cheek.
"You're the best." She said before leaning back into frame with a smile. "Okay guys, dance party is a go!" She said with a thumbs up. "Okay, send me some love if you're ready to dance." Hailee turned toward Parker and motioned for her phone which Parker passed to her. Hailee swiped on the phone, immediately noting there was no passcode, and went on to Spotify and selecting 'I Love you's' smirking when she seen the heart already next to the song meaning it was in Parker's liked songs.
She pressed the song and let it play out loud near her own phone. She let it play for a minute before scooping up Martini off Parker's knee and standing up, not really noticing her own phone going to fall. Luckily, Parker did and caught it quickly before making sure it was resting facing Hailee as she danced with Martini behind the sofa. Parker scooter away a little bit more but didn't notice her knee was slightly in frame. She looked at the picture and smiled as Hailee danced, Martini now on the floor making her way back to Parker. The athlete had never been more thankful that Hailee's house was cold so they'd both put on hoodies, the older girl also putting on some joggers whilst they ate.
Hailee danced out of the frame as she ran around the sofa, hand brushing against Parker's shoulders on her way past. She picked up her phone and began dancing in circles, trying her best to move her phone whenever it came by Parker, hoping it would make the girl too distorted. "Come on, people." Parker picked up Martini and put her back on her lap before getting hold of her front paws and dancing with her. Hailee caught site of it in her peripheral vision and let out a laugh, purposely moving the phone away. Hailee sat back down and pressed pause on Parker's phone.
"Phew! Alright." Hailee was quiet for a minute as she read the comments, glad to see people being happy. She kept her eyes glancing over to Parker who was engrossed in the TV again, hand absentmindedly stroking the puppy on her lap. "Flashlight..wait, how does flash light start. How does flashlight start?!" Hailee frowned and rubbed her head. "Fuck. Friday brain. Someone tell me." She said and read the comments which were coming in too fast for her to actually focus on one. "Nobody is telling me! How does it start."
"When tomorrow comes." Parker spoke quietly. Shrugging when Hailee looked at her in surprise. "It's a good song."
"When tomorrow comes!" She exclaimed to the camera with a smile. "Wait...when tomorrow comes-" She sang quietly to herself. "Yes, that's it!" Hailee began singing Flashlight acapella causing Parker's head to turn in her direction.
Parker couldn't help but be in awe of her voice. She's heard her songs, she knew she could sing. But sitting next to her and heading her sing like that just off the cuff was something else. It came across completely effortless to her. Hailee reached her hand to Parker and placed on her thigh again as she sang, squeezing it every so often.
She stopped singing and spoke to the camera again, Parker tuning back in when she mentioned Dr Phill. "Someone just said they were ok Dr Phill recently. I am obsessed with Dr Phill, what were you on Dr Phill for?" Parker leaned in slightly to see if she could see an answer, again, just not enough so you could see her in the frame.
The next 15 minutes continued the same way, Hailee sang a few more songs which completely enamoured Parker, she would then tune out until something caught her interest.
"Okay guys, I'm gonna sign off now. Thanks for the entertainment, I love and appreciate you all. Bye!" Hailee tapped the screen a few times before closing the app and throwing herself into Parker's side, her hand coming across the girls flat stomach and a leg going across her toned legs. "You're amazing." Hailee complimented as she gave Parker another kiss on the cheek.
Parker looked at her with confusion. "I literally sat here eating food and stroking Tini?"
"No you didn't."
"No I didn't?"
"Mmmhmm. You supported me. And I felt it. You let me stay like an hour on there talking to fans whilst you sat here and watched the tv on silence, you watched me sing and dance around like a fool and didn't complain once."
"Complain? Why would I complain?" Parker asked, thankful for the compliments but she couldn't help but feel they were undeserved.
"Yeah...looking back my past relationships weren't exactly healthy." Hailee mumbled to herself. "The point is, just having you here, supporting me, means more than you could ever imagine. I appreciate your patience, seriously." Hailee finished and leant her head on Parker's shoulder. When she thinks back, none of her exs would have been happy with her spending close to an hour practically ignoring them, they most definitely wouldn't have a pass lock on their phone, and they for sure wouldn't have felt her feel as at home as Parker does.
Parker leant down and pressed a kiss to the top of Hailee's head. Smiling as the girl leant up with a serious look on her face.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm perfect." Hailee whispered. "I wanna ask you something. And you can say no, okay? Don't feel pressured to say yes at all or to say yes to keep my happy because it's totally okay to say no. I was gonna wait and make it a bit more special...but...I think anytime I with you is already special because it's with you." Hailee stated as she brought her hand from Parker's stomach and lifted it to the side of her neck, taking the chain around her neck between her fingers and playing with it softly.
"Be my girlfriend."
Let's face if anyone who treats this girl like shit deserves to have a giant turd dropped on their head. Like, I like Niall, he's always seemed like a decent lad, but listening to Hailee's music...he fucked up.
