Chapter 11

Chapter Eleven.

Until You.

Calla and Rova insisted on dressing 'sexy' which included black ripped skinny jeans and a crop top.

We all wore it, I had never worn anything but a jacket and pants in front of them except when that idiot poured beer on my jacket.

But I was at least wearing a baggy shirt then, and now...now there is nothing to cover up my skinny arms.

Maybe I should be thanking them for 'putting me out there.' Or maybe I should be mad at them for convincing me to do it, but either way it was happening.

"I was thinking we should head down to that night club a couple blocks from here." Rova suggested as we left the room and locked the door.

"How do we get out of school grounds?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

Calla laughed, "Oh sweet, sweet, innocent Alex. You know nothing."

I rolled my eyes.

I would actually argue that I know a lot more about a lot of things than them, but if there was one thing that I knew the most, it was not to get into an argument with Calla.

Because god they never end.

We snuck out of the building through the back doors, it was nearly 10 PM on a thursday night so everyone was either out partying or asleep in their dorms.

The second we left the building Rova and Calla bolted for the field, I let out a yelp of surprise but followed quickly.

We ran fast and reached the edge of the woods that surrounded the school.

"Damn Lexie, you're faster than I thought." Rova noted.

I nodded, "I have experience with running from things."

I thought back to all the times I outran the cops from parties or shoplifting groceries from stores.

Cops tend to not be as smart as the criminals they are running from, like me.

"Okay, follow me because it's pretty easy to get lost in these woods." Calla said as we started through.

"Oh yeah because you are such a good navigator. What would we do without you." Rova said sarcastically.

"Oh shut up, Rova. You would still be lost in here from last time we snuck out if it wasn't for me." Calla argued.

I snorted, Rova snapped his head in my direction.

"Oh you're on his side, Alex?" He asked, sounding betrayed.

I raised my hands in surrender, "I'm not on any side."

"That's his way of saying that I'm the favorite." Calla said smuggingly.

"If you were the favorite then tell me why Alex tried to plan your murder with me." Rova questioned jokingly.

"Okay, it was one time-" I interrupted.

Calla swatted Rova across the head, "Shut up and follow me."

***

We reached the tall black gate and climbed over with ease, beginning the walk down the sidewalk to the nightclub.

"So you guys sneak out often?" I asked.

Rova nodded, "Calla is basically obsessed with me so he always begs me to."

Calla shook his head violently despite the red tint in his ears, "No I'm not, I only invite you because you're a lonely fuck who is desperate for attention."

Rova rolled his eyes, "mhmm, sure. It's okay to admit it, darling."

Calla hit Rova in the head and took off running down the sidewalk, Rova was quick to follow as I stayed walking behind them laughing quietly.

My phone rang in my pocket as I pulled it out.

"Oh hey Tony." I said as I swiped the answer button.

"Hey kid." He responded grimly.

"What's up with you? Moody much?"

He chuckled, "no, it's just the clips that were released..."

"Oh, those."

"Yeah, 'those.'"

"Did you find out who released them?"

"Well, two of them were just news broadcasts but the one with you and that...guy who was paying you to...y'know. We don't know where it came from but we are working on it."

I nodded, even though he couldn't see.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, things are decent here. Not as bad as I expected." I admitted.

"That's good, buddy. Have fun on your night out, you deserve it."

"Wait what- how do you-"

"I can hear the cars in the street, you aren't as sneaky as you think, Alex."

"You would be surprised." I mumbled.

He laughed, "Night, Kid."

"Night, Tony."

His words kept coming back to my mind as I walked down the street.

"Kid" and "buddy."

He treated me how a father should treat his son, I don't know why he would want to be that role in my life but he was pretty quick to it.

I can't say I'm upset by it, I actually..kind of like it. Having someone check in on me and having someone to call.

It makes me feel safe.

"Alex, you slow mother fucker hurry up!" Rova called from down the street, I laughed and jogged to where the boys were.

"So, this is it." Calla opened his arms proudly.

I looked at the building he was presenting, all the neon signs that read 'open' and 'free refills.'

"This is yalls go-to hang out spot?" I asked with a smile.

"No, actually. This is Jayden's go-to hang out spot. I thought we would surprise him." Calla said with a smirk.

"Are you sure this is a good idea-"

"Cmon, it'll be fun."

Rova grabbed my hand and dragged me in. THe faint music from outside immediately blasted into my ears.

Calla and Rova instantly began to scan the room for Jayden.

I could feel them both freeze.

"What?" I asked.

They exchanged a glance.

"Y'know maybe we should go get burgers or something, I'm pretty hungry." Calla suggested, turning around.

"Yeah- actually that seems like a good idea, Calla."

I looked at them, confused. My eyes wandered around the room again, landing on a familiar dark-haired boy.

"Oh wait I see Jayden-"

I stopped when I saw the blonde girl straddling him as he kissed her deeply, the same way he kissed me.

It felt like a weight had been dropped on my chest.

I staggered back a bit.

I don't know why I felt so hurt, it's not like we had been dating. We had only kissed once, I shouldn't be upset.

"Oh." I mumbled quietly.

Rova rested his arm across my shoulder. "He's probably drunk out of his mind, don't worry about it."

I shook my head, "why would I? It's not like I was into him or anything." I scoffed, trying to make it seem real but it was painfully obvious how upset I was.

I didn't use to get upset like this. I used to have easy feelings. I didn't get hurt.

But now, ever since having friends and ever since Jayden, I've been acting in ways that I shouldn't. Too sensitive.

Rova and Calla walked me out the building but I remained silent, I bit my tongue.

"I want to go to a different night club." I said, they both nodded hesitantly.

But they still took me to a different one, I walked in like I hadn't seen Jayden that night.

I walked in and immediately went to the bar and began a conversation with the bartender who was obviously gay.

I spoke in a soft voice, resting my head in my hand and looked up at him.

"And your name is?" He asked in a deep voice.

"Unimportant. But I would like a couple drinks if that's alright with you, sir?" I asked with a smirk.

He nodded and bit on his lip, filling up several shot glasses and watched me as I quickly drank all of them.

I loved the burn they left in my throat.

"So tell me Mr.Bartender, you have a backroom don't you?" I questioned, he nodded quickly.

I reached over the counter and pulled him closer to me by his shirt, kissing him deeply.

I knew Calla and Rova were watching me but I continued.

"Show me please." I asked as I walked behind the counter and followed the man to their back room.
