Chapter Four.
Until You.
The morning rolled around, Rova knocked on my door to make me aware that we were leaving for breakfast in 10 minutes.
I changed into my school uniform, a collared white shirt with a gray sleeveless vest. Black pants matching the shirt, and a red tie around my neck,
I looked like a rich private school boy, and I hated it.
Rova and I walked in comfortable conversation, entering the dining room. I followed Rova as he forcefully dragged me by the wrist, and led me to a table with Calla and Jayden already sitting.
âOh this motherfucker is just in our friend group now?â Jayden groaned as I sat down.
I rolled my eyes.
âStill donât talk?â He asked with a smile.
âOh fuck off.â I mumbled, resting my head in my hands out of pure exhaustion.
Calla smiled at my response, ruffling my hair.
âDidnât get much sleep last night, eh?â He asked, noticing the dark circles under my eyes.
I shrugged.
âUgh how come you still look like that with literally zero sleep?â Rova complained.
I gave him a confused look.
âHave you seen your hair? And your face? Itâs fucking angelic. I look like a zombie who just came from 6ft under the ground.â He said with a groan.
I laughed. âSee- even your laugh-â Rova began again but was cut off by Calla.
âQuit crushing on the new boy, focus on me a bit more, hm?â He said with a smile, supposedly joking but for some reason I think Calla was a bit jealous..?
âBut donât you agree, Jayden? Heâs fucking beautiful.â Rova said with a sigh, resting his head on the table.
âYeah I can see where youâre coming from.â Jayden said with a smirk.
I looked up to him and we held eye contact for a minute, before Rova caught my attention again.
âWell anyways, whatâs your schedule?â Rova questioned. I opened my phone and slid it across the table with a picture of my schedule pulled up.
âOh- it looks like I have 4th period and 6th period with you.â Calla said with a smile.
Rova scanned the schedule, âAnd we have 2nd period and 7th period together.â A smile lighting up his face.
âAndâ¦we all have a 3rd period together!â Calla exclaimed.
Jayden groaned, âI have to see this shithead more than one time in a day? Are you fucking kidding me?â
I donât know why they were so excited about having classes(not including Jayden, obviously) with me, as if Iâm any use to them. I havenât been to school in a year, even though this is my last year in highschool I should really be in grade 11.
My father stopped making me go to school back when I lived with him, and that was before I ran away. So itâs been quite a while. Even when I was in school I never did my work, I flunked all my courses.
âAre you smart?â Rova asked.
I shook my head.
âIâm sure youâre smarter than us, we all have straight Câs in all of our courses.â Calla said with a laugh.
*Iâm not sure how grading scales work in London, Iâm obviously from America so please just avoid it lmao*
I furrowed my eyebrows. Their definition of failing is a C? Thatâs basically a 100 for me.
Jayden noticed my confusion, âWhat? Is a C not good enough for you, Mr.Perfect?â
He seemed to have taken my confusion as me being an asshole, he obviously is an idiot so Iâll excuse it.
âI donât give a shit about your grades, Jayden.â I said with a sigh.
The bell rang and I stood up quickly, walking away to my homeroom class which I shared with no one.
I felt the stare of the three boys that I had just left at the table, they seemed to be curious about me. And I hated it. I hate attention, but I canât help always getting it. I have an impulsive mouth, it is always biting back to whoever and whatever. I really canât control it.
I walked into Mrs.Williams class, my homeroom, and walked straight to the back, sitting in a chair.
I didnât want to be called on at all.
I could immediately tell that she was the type of teacher that didnât give a shit, so I was thankful for that.
âGood Morning students, everyone has a seat and Iâll call roll.â She said as she plopped into her desk chair.
I laid my head down on my desk, trying to tune out her annoying voice.
All the students spoke loudly, laughing annoyingly.
I could hear Mrs.Williamâs occasional name call, â..Oliverâ¦Penaeâ¦Jackâ¦â Followed by several, âHereâ¦hereâ¦hereâ
âAlex.â She called, I just raised my hand, not wanting to draw much attention to myself.
She noticed and nodded. âOh, youâre a new student from America, yes?â
Now everyoneâs eyes were on me.
âOh heâs the new student?â
âI didnât even notice him.â
âHeâs kinda hot.â
âNo, heâs prettier than hot.â
âKinda both.â
âI wonder if heâs gay.â
âHe kinda looks like it.â
I heard the girls next to me whisper obnoxiously loud.
âIâm sure youâll be able to catch up in this lesson, if not then afterwards you may ask questions.â She announced, I just nodded in response.
âAre you mute or something?â A girl asked as she walked up to me.
âNo, fuck off.â I responded.
She nodded and walked back to her group whispering, âgod his voice is hot too. I love American accents.â
I rolled my eyes and laid my head back down on the desk.
Soon enough, the bell rang.
I stood and hurried out of the class heading to 2nd period.
âLexie! Over here!â A voice called me, Rova was sitting in the back of the class, smart choice.
I walked over to him and collapsed in the chair next to him.
âHomeroom wasnât fun?â He asked with a smile.
I shook my head, âWas it supposed to be?â
âIs that the new student?â A kid whispered, now numerous heads were turning back to me.
I rolled my eyes.
âHeâs kinda hot-â Someone whispered to Rova, in which he responded, âI know right?â
âYou might as well get used to this shit, we donât get new kids very often.â Rova said with a smile.
Mr.Green called out role, and then proceeded with his history lesson.
Boring as hell.
Finally, the bell rang. Part of me was happy about this hellish class being over, but then the other part groaned knowing I now had to go to Math with Calla, Rova, and Jayden.
I hurried off into the hall, finding a bathroom and sitting on the floor inside. I needed a break.
I havenât had this much interaction with people for a while. It was overwhelming.
The door opened and a tall brunette boy walked in.
âHey you're the new kid, right?â He asked.
âYeah, thanks I nearly forgot.â I said sarcastically. It was pretty obvious I was new. Maybe the American accent wasnât a big enough hint.
The boy lifted his hands in surrender. âChill.â He said.
I rolled my eyes.
He sat down next to me. âIâm Milo. And you are?â
I eyed him suspiciously slowly saying, â..Alex.â
He reached over and pulled a water bottle from his backpack, opening it and handing it to me.
âWhatâs this?â I asked.
He shrugged, âLiquid confidence.â
I rolled my eyes, âI donât drink beer.â I said after smelling the drink. It always gave me bad flashbacks of my father.
âOh come on just a little.â He said, trying to tip the bottle up in order to get me to drink it.
I shook my head, âno.â
He smiled, âCome on.â
âI donât want fucking beer.â
âA little wonât hurt.â He kept tipping it over as I tried to push it away from my face.
Suddenly, he tipped too far. The drink spilled all over my black jacket.
He stood up, laughing. âOh shit dude-â
He quickly threw the bottle away and ran out of the room.
The fuck do I do now? I could just take off the jacket and go to class, or I could go to my room and switch my jackets.
If I take off my jacket then it becomes painfully obvious how skinny I am. Not the type of skinny that is romanticized all over the internet, but the type of skinny where you could tell that I wasnât used to eating everyday.
If I go back to the room then Iâll be even more late than I am now, plus Rova and Calla would be asking what happened and why I changed.
And I could get caught going back to my room, resulting in Saturday detention.
So I took off my jacket, threw it in the trash, and headed off the class.
