Bria POV

I looked around rapidly,  my heart beating so fast inside my chest I felt like it would explode . I could hear him coming , his footsteps a dull thud against the tiled floor . It was so difficult to see and from what little sight I had , the only thing I could see on both sides of the hallway I was running down were doors but, no matter how much or how desperately I tried to unlock them shaking the knob, it was no use for they were all locked .

I was soaked with sweat and fear gripped my body so much  so that I was physically shaking. I continued to run down the endless half dark hallway until I came to a dead end . That was it, a wall no more doors on either side ,just a wall and I turned around to see him walking towards me. As he did so , he seemed to blend in with the darkness, leaving only his eyes and that slightly twisted smile.

He stopped when he was just mere inches away from me and I pressed myself against the wall so hard it was as if I was trying to force it to open up by some miraculous means and sucked me in .

He was  so tall that even looking up at him I had to hold my head almost all the way back . I swallowed my throat dry and I could practically hear myslef breathing deep and rapid breaths so hard my ribs hurt and my lungs burned.

He took another step closing the distance between us and reaching into his pocket , he pulled out a knife and I felt the blood froze in my veins .

Gasping, my eyes shot open and I sat upright in my bed .  Realising it was nothing more than a nightmare,  I took deep breaths to calm myself , looking around the semi darkness of my room as if I might somehow see him lurking in the dark corners .

I was a little damp with sweat despite the fact that the fan was on and on the highest point . Laying back down , my head against my pillow I tried to tell myself that this man was just like any other visitor to our church.

It was just my mind blowing things out of proportion , making me see and imagine things that weren't there but,despite all my convincing , I couldn't stop replaying this past Sunday in my mind , nor could I just pretend he hadn't steard at me before leaving after the service and did that slight , secretive , sinister smile , like we shared some form of secret, like he knew things .

Calm dung Bria , this a madness . Eh man nuh know yuh and him just smile out a formality nuhun more.

I eventually went back to sleep and thankfully I didn't have any more nightmares involving this man . In the morning went I went downstairs I was surprised to find a random man talking with my father in the living room . I greeted them and with confusion on my face ,I made my way into the kitchen where my mom was.

" morning mummy , a wah gwaan ? A who daddy a talk to?"

" oh a some security man , him did call sometime last week and seh him notice seh wi a eh only people dem inna eh neighbourhood weh nuh have nuh form a security camera and if wi woulda interested fi get any . Yuh fada and him talk and base pon wah him seh and him company , yuh fada agree fi mek him install eh security system".

" but, anuh like nuhbody aguh bruck inna eh house or do nuhun and yuh nuh find it weird seh him seh , him notice fi wi house as eh only house weh nuh have nuh security camera?"

She turned from the stove to face me giving me a stern look,

" Bria this anuh your concern , anuh fi yuh money a pay fi nuhun. Yuh fada and me already check fi ensure seh him legit and anuh nuh form a scam or nuhun like that and him install security system fi nuff a eh people dem inna eh community a ready,  and yuh fada check wid dem to,  and eh whole a dem seh him and eh company him work fah,good"

I wanted to ask her whether these security things were going to be in my room or any where upstairs but, i decided to just wait and see . After having my breakfast I went back upstairs where I was surprised to see the man coming out of the upstairs bathroom.

Seeing me he smiled and I awkwardly returned it before opening the door to my room and going inside , locking it securely behind me . Later at school during lunch I discussed my dream with Trish and Mikayla and also told them about the security system my parents were having installed.

" no but, fun and jokes aside this a get out a hand now Bria . Yuh all a have nightmare bout eh man and yuh seh him smile afta yuh last Sunday when church did ova ?" Trish asked concern on her face .

" yes although mi nuh sure now because come to think of it , him did a talk to mummy to and other people did up a the altar wid mi afta eh service when me and yuh did a talk suh maybe him smile afta smaddy else and he seem like me . Mi nuh know but, mi know fi a fact seh sumuh off bout him and him definitely a look pon mi because mi ketch him a stare and him nuh look weh".

" maybe yuh fi mention it to yuh mada,since it a get concerning now" Mikayla said and I finished my drink .

" yuh seh yuh parents dem a install some form a security system? A like wah yah talk bout?" Mikayla questioned and I shrugged,

" mi nuh sure, maybe like cameras on the outside of the house and maybe one a dem sumuh deh weh foreign people have weh dem put dem password inna fi open dem door " .

"Oh , well as long dem nuh put none inna yuh room, yuh good then " Trish stated and I replied,

" well I wouldn't have a problem if dem put wah camera out pon eh hallway weh lead from my room to mi sista room,  at least mi cah find out when she tek anything from mi room " and Mikayla smiled .

I then remembered about my missing bracelet and was about to say something but, then the bell rang signalling the end of lunch and I forgot about it as we each made our way to our respective classes.
