Bria POV:

School was dismissed early due to us only having one exam. I would have gone with Trish and Mikayla to buy food in the town but, I wasn't feeling up to it so I decided I would just come home .

It was after 1 in the evening and the house was quite and empty without the rest of my family but, this was one of the rear occasions that I got the house to  myslef so I decided to enjoy it .

I changed out of my school uniform,  remaining in my tights and marina and made my way back downstairs to the kitchen to make myslef a sandwich. It was while walking to the kitchen that I noticed an unfamiliar scent in the air . It smelt like cologne but, one that most  likely belong to a man and one I didn't reconize and I knew all my father's colognes unless he got a different one .

I ignored it and opened the fridge taking out nuggets,  cheese,  lettuce ,tomato and mayonnaise before closing it back and then I set about making my sandwich. While I worked I set up my phone and put in my airpods so I could watch a movie for entertainment.

I had turned my back to the kitchen island and was busy checking to see if my nuggets were done frying and toasting my bread , when I taught i heard something scraped against the floor upstairs.

Maybe a duppy my subconscious taunted but,I pushed that nonsense out of my mind . A mus yah eh duppy weh deh in yah. Have sense Bria and stop frighten ova foolishness, I said to myslef and continued to work on my sandwich.

Sandwich now finished and ready to eat, I took the plate containing it outside, where my father had built something like a gazebo with a picnic table and a huge umbrella as shade from the sun and sat down,  setting my phone up so I could continue watching my show while I ate .

Midway between eating, I shifted my focus from my phone and towards the gate , looking up the road. From where I sat I could see a little way up the road and I noticed a black Audi that was parked off the side of the road,  not near to a specific house to say it belong there but, just off the side of the road ,like someone pulled over just to take a break or something.

It  wasn't a big deal because its not the first am seeing an Audi,  it's just the first am seeing one parked off the side of the road in my community.  Maybe a smaddy come from foreign or smaddy buy new car , mind yuh owna business nuh gyal , my subconscious taunted again and I went back to watching the movie.

Done with eating, I went back inside carrying the plate to the kitchen and placing it into the sink when I noticed that one of the drawers in the kitchen where the utensils were kept, was left ajared. A mi lef it suh or a mad mi a mad ?

I closed it , washed the plate and decided to practice some math , because maths was after Human and Social Biology tommrow and I wanted to ensure I am prepared. On my way back upstairs,  I spotted a book on the table in the living room and frowning because it looked familiar, I entered the room and walked over to the table .

My eyes widen when I saw that it was the hard copy of the fifty shades of grey series that I had bought online and hid from my parents .

If mi mada even find out seh mi a read this , a hell fi pay but, how it reach dung yah suh? A she find it ? It did di deh when mi just come home ? Mi cah even remember but, mi know a nuh mi put it deh because mi mek sure fi hide all three a eh book dem inna eh bottom  a mi panty drawer suh , a must smaddy guh in deh and tek it out but, who? Daddy? No him barely come a mi doorway much less fi enta mi room, worse mi panty drawer. Celine? But, how she woulda know seh mi have it , unless she si mi a read it and watch mi fi si weh mi hide dem but, Celine nuh read book , she nuh like it . She more prefer fi watch show or play game pon har phone ,book anuh fi har thing .

Taking the book I made my way upstairs to my room and saw that my underwear drawer was shut but, one of my many black mesh panties was sticking out the edge , like it had been closed in a hurry. Maybe a from this morning when mi a get ready fi school?

I opened the drawer and taking out all my undergarments I found the other two books , fifty shades freed and fifty shades darker at the bottom exactly where  I left them , suh how eh other one fifty shades of Grey reach dungstairs pon eh living room table?

I placed the book back into the bottom of the drawer and put all my undergarments back inside. Taking my math book from my bag along with a couple past CXC papers , I sat at the computer desk in my room with my airpods in and started to practice .  I didn't move again until I felt a tap on my shoulder making me scream in fright as I jumped , turning around to meet the confused and concern look of my mother .

"Cuh yah! a weh do you mek yah jump suh? A weh yuh do wrong ?" She asked,  her eyes narrowing in suspicion .

" nuhun mummy , yuh just frighten mi . Mi have in eh earpods suh mi neva hear when yuh come in" , I stated placing a hand on my heart to calm myslef down.

" a long time mi a call yuh and yuh nuh ansa. How was yuh exam?" , she enquired .

" eh did fine . Nuhun weh mi couldn't manage . Celine come home yet?" I asked.

" long time ,a how long yuh sidung inna a study? School ova early todeh ?"

" yes , mi come home from 1 a clock and mi start practice maths afta 2 " .

" alright,  mi aguh heat up curry chicken from last night and steam some rice fi dinna , gwaan practice yuh maths . Oh , wait mi did actually come in here fi ask yuh sumuh enuh, a you lef eh TV on dungstairs inna eh living room?" She asked and I froze .

No man , duppy definitely inna eh house . Fus eh utensil drawer inna eh kitchen,  then mi book pon eh living room table , now TV lef on ? Sumuh weird a gwaan .

" no , maybe a Celine but, eh did off when mi come up here fi study " I replied and she sighed ,

" mi ask har and she seh anuh she suh if a nuh none a unu a mus duppy . Unu just remember seh a light a bun when unu do that and none a wi nuh rich , suh unu fi have likkle conscience and turn off eh TV if unu nah use it " and with that she left my room and I made my way to Celine's room that was beside mine .

" suh yuh nuh knock again?" She asked as I opened her room door and barged in . She was sitting in her bed , watching something on her phone and giving her a stern look I asked ,

" a you tek out one a mi book dem and lef it pon eh table inna eh living room ?"

She sighed , " no Bria , jeez,yuh know seh mi aguh stop come inna yuh room cause everything weh yuh loose or anything weh move , me a eh first one yuh quick fi jump pon " she replied.

" you should , that way yuh name nuh affi call" and with that I left her room and went back to mine . Deciding to shower before dinner , I went into my closet to pick out some change of clothes  and the first thing I noticed was that one of my oversized t-shirt was missing.

I had 6 in total and so far , 3 was in the laundry basket and now I only saw 2 . Exhaling in frustration, I debated between marching back to Celine's room and making her go through her things or just let it go, and I decided to go with the latter. I made a mental note to keep a close eye on her and to start locking my room door .

Before going into the bathroom, I saw the curtains at my window blowing in the night air and I frowned, because I am very certain I closed the window before I left for school this morning. Walking over to it , I looked out towards the main road , seeing no one and looking up the road I noticed that the black Audi that I had seen earlier this evening was now gone .

No man sumuh off bout dah whole evening here.

I brushed it off blaming it on exams nerves , grabbed my clothes and made my way into my bathroom to shower .
