Chapter 470
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
âWrong number,â Sophie replied, lying through her teeth.
Nicholas doesnât know when to give up, does he? Or perhaps he didnât learn his lesson from last time?
Tristan had a feeling that she was not telling the truth.
However, he decided not to probe further this time. If Sophie refused to answer him, he would not ask
any more questions.
Sophie stared at his back as guilt filled her heart.
There was nothing between her and Nicholas. She did not tell Tristan because she did not want him to
worry.
However, he seemed down in the dumps because of the call.
âAre you all right?â Sophie asked tentatively. She did not wish for Tristan to get angry or upset.
After returning from the hot spring resort, Sophie immediately called Nicholas.
Nicholasâ lips curled up into a smirk when he saw the familiar number.
âSophie, arenât you being too mean? If I donât call you, youâll never call me first, wonât you? Are you
going to forget about me?â
Having not heard Sophieâs voice for so long, he truly missed her.
âI miss you so much. Should I come to Jipsdale to visit you?â
Nicholas seemed to have forgotten about what had happened in the past. Like someone who had been
parted from his lover for a long time, he wanted to fly over to her side.
âNicholas, havenât you learned your lesson? Iâve warned you to stay out of my life. I will never like you.â
âWhy not? I met you first. How could you fall in love with someone else? Do you know youâre breaking
my heart?â Nicholas uttered hysterically.
I was the one who met her first. How can another man steal her heart before I do?
âNicholas, are you certain youâre not sick in the head? If you are, you can go to the hospital. Stop
spouting nonsense at me!â Sophie raged. Nicholas was an important person. She could not afford to
get rid of him.
However, her patience had long run out after she was being pestered by him for so long.
âYouâre right. Iâm indeed sick. Iâm suffering from lovesickness. Ever since you left, Iâve been thinking
about you every day.â
Sophie was rendered speechless by his absurd reply.
She took a deep breath, and only then did she manage to suppress the urge to hurl the phone.
âNicholas, just give up on your one-sided feeling. If you donât want to push this to the point of no return,
you better stay out of my life.â
If the situation continued, one of them was bound to die.
âSophie, are you threatening me now? You know very well that I donât like being threatened by others.â
Why does she have to be so cruel to me? âI can give you whatever you want if you return to my side. I
mean it. Otherwise, Iâll never let you go even if I have to take you down.â
Nicholas was utterly obsessed with Sophie. He could not bear to let her go to another man.
Sophie did not feel the need to continue the conversation.
No matter what I say, he will never listen to me. In that case, I will just let him be. At worst, weâll come
to blows. Letâs see who will have the last laugh!
After hanging up the phone, Sophie turned on her computer and changed her number. This new phone
number was tied to someone elseâs ID card.
She did not want to hear Nicholasâ voice anymore.
Meanwhile, Felix and the others could only shake their heads when they saw Tristan drowning his
sorrows.
âMr. Tristan, what are you doing? Did you break up with Sophie?â Thatâs the only reason he would
behave like this.
Hearing that, Tristan shot him a death glare.
Felix rubbed his nose awkwardly. âSince you two are still together, why are you drinking so much? You
know that drowning your sorrows doesnât work, right?â
âFelix, keep your mouth shut if you donât know how to console him. Just drink with him instead,â Sean
said.
âI agree!â Charles chimed in. Itâs just drinking. Itâs not like weâll die from drinking. Whatâs there to be
afraid of?
Felix shook his head and said, âYou guys are insane. Very well, then. Since everyone here is crazy, itâs
pointless for me to stay sane alone. Letâs drink together.â
The four of them were all intelligent people. It had been a long time since they had drunk like this.
After having too much to drink, Felix began to talk nonsense. âListen to me, Mr. Tristan. If a woman is
disobedient, you have to punish her. If you donât teach her a lesson, she will start dominating you from
now on.â
âPunish her? I canât bear to do that to her,â Tristan replied. How could I punish her?
Charles could not help but interject, âYou can just pounce on her. Sheâll behave herself afterward.â
That was the way to do it, or so he thought.
Sean was at a loss for words.
âI still canât bear to do that,â Tristan uttered.
âMr. Tristan, you werenât a softie before. What happened to you? You canât even bear to scold or punish
her. How will you control her in the future? Whereâs your authority as a man?â Felix began again after
downing a few more drinks.
In his opinion, a man had to protect his status and power in the family.
âIf thatâs what you think, Iâm scared to leave Ysabelle in your hands!â
What kind of old-fashioned view is that? A man should dote on his wife instead of beating or scolding
her.
Felix scratched the back of his head. âI was just joking! Do I look like someone who would beat up his
wife?â I still have a long road ahead of me.
Charles interjected, âThatâs enough. Stop talking nonsense. Just finish your drink.â
He could not comprehend how Tristan could love a woman wholeheartedly.
After all, there was no shortage of beautiful women in this world. Many of them were waiting to win his
heart.
Why buy a cow when you can get milk for free?
Sean said with a smile, âDonât worry, Mr. Tristan. That Nicholas is no match for you. Heâs nowhere near
as handsome as you!â
Tristan fell silent momentarily before responding, âMy Sophie doesnât care about physical appearances.
She likes me because of my personality, not my face.â
Felix, Sean, and Charles were stumped for words.
Clayton was arrested for intentional homicide.
With all the evidence stacked against him, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Willow came to see Clayton on the day of his sentencing. Observing the man from afar, she saw the
once-favored child fall from grace after he offended Sophie.
Willowâs heart trembled when she thought of Sophie. Iâve finally understood that she isnât one to be
trifled with.
Clayton stopped in his tracks when he caught sight of Willow.
âI want to have a word with that woman over there.â Clayton made a request.
The other party naturally knew Claytonâs identity.
No matter what, the staff still had to show respect toward the Zaleses. They had no choice but to
approach the woman.
After listening to the staffâs words, Willow went up to Clayton.
âWhat else is left to say between us?â Willow asked expressionlessly.
All along, she was nothing but a pawn for Clayton to use.
Hearing that, Clayton could not help laughing. There was no sign of despair on his face, as he was
confident of getting out of the prison.
âWillow, why are you acting as if Iâve failed you? You donât really like me, do you?â Clayton asked. Both
of them knew what she was after. There was no point in pretending.
