Chapter 848
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
This younger sister of mine may be a little stubborn, but sheâs nowhere as scary as he makes her out
to be.
âI didnât mean anything else by that, Mr. Quigley. I really donât like her, so Iâm just telling you not to try
anything funny,â Bertram replied. Did he think thatâd frighten me? After working closely with Mr. Tristan
for so long, Iâve seen and experienced many things and situations. Neither riches nor power can bend
me. Iâm a man with principles, thank you very much.
âIs Winter really that bad?â Charles responded, feeling frustrated. When Iâm back in Jipsdale, Iâve got to
make her go on blind dates. Only after seeing her get married will I feel at ease. Otherwise, Iâll be so
annoyed by her and die an untimely death sooner or later. If that happens, itâll be a huge loss indeed.
Winter was still making muffled protests when Charles got into the car.
He turned and uttered sternly, âShut up, Winter. You should know where this is. If you continue stirring
up trouble like this, Iâll wash my hands of you. Iâve really had enough of you.â
I had to plead with Sophie previously to let her go back. But now that she has run off by herself, how is
she supposed to go back this time? Iâve seriously had enough of having such a troublemaking sister.
Meanwhile, Bertram shot Charles a pitying glance. Ms. Quigley never knows when to stop. Whoever
ends up marrying her in the future is one unlucky guy, thatâs for sure.
Over in Anglandur, Sophie woke up feeling refreshed after forcing herself to sleep for ten hours.
Tristan had been by her side the whole time she was asleep, and the first thing she saw upon opening
her eyes was his handsome face.
She stretched out a hand and pinched his neck gently. Honestly, this guy can always make my heart
flutter! Just his face alone is enough to bewitch someone completely. Itâs no wonder those wealthy
heiresses in Jipsdale keep flocking to him like bees to a honeypot. Iâm fortunate indeed that he chose
me among all the others. If that isnât lucky, I donât know what is!
Opening his mouth wide, he trapped her small, mischievous hand in his mouth.
That made her laugh. âWhatâs the matter? Are you hungry? Do you want to eat my hand?â
âIâm hungry. I want to devour you.â The next moment, he pulled her close and kissed her, sliding his
tongue nimbly into her mouth. It was a kiss charged with desire and passion, and she felt her body start
to burn.
Nonetheless, he refused to let her go and continued kissing her from her lips to her neck, then to her
chest.
Sophie arched her neck, basking in his love for her. I adore everything about him. Even his kisses are
just like himâaddictive.
Suddenly, he rolled over and pinned her under him.
She did not say anything and merely gazed at him with a dreamy look. Seeing her like that aroused him
immediately, and he swiftly shielded her eyes with his hand.
âDonât look at me like that. If you do, I wonât be able to control myself,â Tristan murmured. Sheâs getting
more and more seductive! Even if she lies there without doing anything, it makes me get the urge to
throw caution to the wind.
The corners of her lips curved upward with a hint of a smile. This guy⦠I donât know why he insists on
holding back. However, itâs also that determination that makes me feel so happy. He must be trying to
protect me because he thinks Iâm still young. Thatâs why he keeps letting himself suffer like this.
Soon, her whole body was shaking with laughter. I canât help it. I really canât hold it in any longer.
Her laughter was so infectious that he was soon chuckling along with her.
âOh, so youâre laughing at me now?â he asked, still lying on top of her. When a man and a woman were
in such a position, oneâs imagination would inevitably run wild.
âIâm not. I wouldnât dare! Besides, whatâs there to laugh about you?â Despite her answer, her
expression clearly showed that was not the case.
âJust you wait. Some day, Iâll surely make you plead for mercy while pinned under me,â he responded.
He loved her deeply, which was why he could not bear to hurt her.
âOkay, sure. Iâll wait for that day to come,â came her reply. What else can I do? I also feel helpless that I
met a guy like him. However, this is his resolve. Since he cherishes the wedding night so much, Iâll wait
for that day.
That night, Barney and Arius also returned to the hotel. They had solved the issue and could finally
have a good rest.
However, no sooner had they arrived than Marcus also appeared at the hotel. The sight of the uninvited
visitor filled Arius with exasperation. Weâve been working ourselves to the bone for so many days and
certainly have no time to waste on dealing with this guy.
âMr. President, donât you know how exhausted weâve been these past few days? If you do, could you
please refrain from disturbing us now? The only thing I want to do right now is to get a good nightâs
sleep,â he said curtly. I mean, whoâs the reason weâre so tired? Yet the culprit shows up here and is
unwilling to let us rest. Isnât this a little too much?
âDonât come at me with such hostility, Arius. Iâm here because I want to express my gratitude. I know
how hard youâve all been working during this period,â Marcus replied meekly. âHereâs an idea! Given
your outstanding contributions to Anglandur, Iâve decided to reward all of you handsomely. I hope youâll
be there on time.â
In truth, that was the reason for his visit.
âNo need for that, Mr. President. We didnât do what we did because of you.â Barney understood people
like Marcus to a certain extent and had a sinking feeling that the latter did not want to let them leave.
Initially, we came here to help them solve their problems. However, now that Marcus has seen what
Sophie is capable of, itâs even more unlikely that heâll let her go.
âI know you donât care for all that, Barney. However, the truth is that the International Medical
Association truly needs you. Could it even still be called the International Medical Association without
you? Hence, you guys have to come,â Marcus replied. Then, observing how fatigued the pair looked,
he did not take up any more of their time and quickly left with his subordinates.
When Sophie learned they were back, she went to find them and immediately noticed Ariusâs stormy
expression.
âWhatâs wrong?â she asked. Didnât he just get back? Who stepped on his toes this time?
âItâs that disgusting president again. I truly canât stand the sight of him anymore, and Iâve no idea what
he has cooking in his mind this time,â he grumbled, thinking about how they had only come to offer their
assistance because they had to and that Marcus should be glad they were not asking him for money in
return.
âWhy do you care what he wants to do? Anyway, no matter what he has in mind, he canât change our
decision,â she reasoned. Even the president of Anglandur canât stop us if we want to leave.
âMm, you have a point. I think weâve pretty much resolved the issues here, so itâs also time for us to go
home,â Arius replied. I miss the fresh air in Chanaea. The saying âthereâs no place like homeâ rings true
indeed.
