Chapter 11
Alpha Bond
Ellaâs POV
Since I already memorized my way, I am heading back towards the room where I woke up. However, Emersonâs silence is irritating me to no bound.
I mean, come on, he went against his Superior orders for me, and now he is behaving... so weirdly.
âWho are you and why are you following me?â I ask him calmly.
âWhy are you leading me?â He questions back, mirroring my tone, but humor is evident in his eyes.
Strangely, he has no scent, or maybe he is hiding it for some reason. I am getting strange vibes from him. We should be careful, human.
Blazeâs voice instantly makes me alert.
Blaze and I, we both trust each otherâs instinct blindly. It is important to have trust between our wolves and us. Trust is the only thing that strengthens the bond which we have with our other nature.
âCut the crap, and straightaway answer my question, who are you?â I glare at him while rattling my mind to remember if I know him.
âPlease, donât lie to me because I can feel that this is not the first time we have met,â I speak quietly while my glare softens slightly, sensing an undeniable connection with him.
This connection is not a mate bond because my wolf and I would have felt the mate pull the moment we met him. But we havenât felt anything like this. However, we do have sensed a connection with him.
âI canât lie to you, but I canât tell you the truth either.â A tiny sad smile lifts the corners of his lips.
I can read conflict in his eyes.
I am about to ask him what he means when his face turns completely cold, removing every trace of emotion I witnessed a moment ago.
âEmerson, what the hell you were doing inside?â Ambrose rushes towards us with an irritated look, âYou should know better than anyone else that nothing good comes out when you go against the orders.â
âSuperior was already not happy with you how lost your control yesterday, and now he is even more furious at your disobedience.â He glares at Emerson, âI tried to handle the situation as best I could, but you are just making things difficult for you even more than they are.â
âFocus on performing your duties.â He warns him while giving a pointed look, and then he turns to me.
âElla, we canât just let you go until we are satisfied that you are not hiding anything from us.â Ambrose slightly narrows his eyes at me, âYou have to come with me because we need some answers.â His assertive tone causes my eyebrows to raise.
Without saying anything, Emerson stands in between Ambrose and me. Anger radiates off of him as he keeps his eyes on Ambrose.
âStay out of this, Emerson.â Ambrose lightly growls in warning, âDon't forget that you might have become a Lord, but still, I am higher in the rank than you.â
Emerson looks at him challengingly, not backing down. His hands curl into fists on his side while he refuses to move from between us.
âWe canât just trust everyone.â Ambroseâs gaze turns slightly soft as he shakes his head with a small sigh realizing his words do not affect Emerson, so he changes his approach, âWe canât trust her.â
He continues to stand in front of me like a protective wall.
âBut I do trust her.â Emersonâs voice might be low, but the power behind the words hits me hard.
These words somewhere bloom the feeling of bliss inside my heart which is absolutely absurd.
He trusts me.
Honestly, I am not worried about that because I have nothing to hide.
From what I have heard, Guardians donât trust anyone outside their clan. So I can understand that they are suspicious of me.
But what is surprising is that then why Emerson claimed that he trusts me?
Emerson is a mystery that I need to figure before going insane because he is driving me crazy.
âEat this.â He walks out of the kitchen and places a plate of food in front of me on the table.
Earlier I haven't noticed but this chamber is more like a studio apartment. As apart from the bedroom, it has a living area and small kitchen.
Just like the bedroom, even the living room is dominated by white color. But strangely, everything seems impersonal.
âI am not hungry.â Shaking my head, I slightly push the plate away.
âYou havenât eaten since you woke up.â He again brings the plate near me, âYou will be staying here for a while until I find a way to send you back home. I canât let you starve yourself.â
âWhy are you doing this?â I frown, feeling slightly irritated. âWhy are you so nice to me?â
âSo, donât you want me to be nice to you?â He arches an eyebrow in amusement.
His behavior is confusing me; when he is with me, he seems a different person. But in front of everyone else, his whole demeanor shifts to being a cold and impassive person.
Running my hands through my hair, I hold the back of my neck while closing my eyes.
He is even confusing my wolf by giving these contrasting vibes. We are still skeptical about him. But somewhere, I am trying to find a reason to allow myself to trust him.
Turning my head, I look at him when I sense him sitting beside me.
He has a deep, thoughtful look on his face as he stares at his interlocked fingers. A bit of satisfaction spread inside me because it seems like even he is struggling as much as I am.
After a moment or two, he meets my eyes. Again the feeling of familiarity floods my heart as I look into his eyes.
Unlike the rest of the time, instead of torturing myself trying to recall how I know, I am determined to get answers from him.
He must have sensed the change in my expression because he looks slightly alert, as if he is preparing himself for whatever I am up to.
âOkay, so do you really mean it when you have said that you canât lie to me, and you even canât tell me the truth?â Raising my eyebrows, I bite my lip.
âYes,â He answers without missing a beat.
âOkay.â I slowly nod my head as a smile begin to form on my face because my mind has come up with a plan to get my answers.
âBut what if I figure out the truth myself without you revealing anything to me?â I grin wickedly, looking at him.
âI donât get it.â He seems slightly confused. Confused but interested.
âWell, you will answer my questions in just yes and no; leave the rest to me.â I shrug, already planning what I will ask him first.
âAre you the one who killed Emmet?â I ask him without giving him any chance to protest.
Images of that beautiful yet deadly wolf flash through my mind as I recall him beheading Emmet.
âMy wolf.â His eyes hardened at the mention of Emmetâs name.
Well, I refrain from mentioning that it is almost the same thing since he has been forthcoming with answering me.
âYour wolf, he is beautiful.â I smile, thinking about his wolf, âEspecially his eyes. I have never seen such eyes before.â I vividly remember those yellow eyes, which should have felt creepy to me, but instead, I found them mesmerizing.
âThank you.â A light blush spread across his cheeks, suddenly making him look younger.
Awww... isnât he cute?
"Focus, Ella! We have to get our answers. Later we can talk about his cuteness." Blaze tries to get my focus back on our task.
Mentally, scolding myself, I clear my throat.
âHave we met before?â I ask the question trying to confirm that I am not delusional when I think that we have known each other before.
âYes.â He nods his head without looking in my direction.
âHave you ever visited my pack?â Chewing my bottom lip, I ask the next logical question because he must have met me at my pack.
I have never traveled anywhere apart from my Uncleâs pack, and I donât remember meeting anyone other than the people I have known since my childhood.
âYes.â He glances at me without any trace of emotion.
My heartbeat starts to pick up, while slowly, my mind begins to connect the dots.
âHave you ever saved my life in the past?â
My questions start turning more specific because there is no need to beat around the bushes when I already know the answers. But I need to hear it from his mouth.
âYes,â His jaw muscles tick as he replies.
A ragged breath comes out of my mouth while I try hard to calm my racing heart. Overwhelming emotions wash over me, forcing me to close my eyes.
"You are not Emerson," I whisper and shake my head, already knowing the truth.
"Yes." His voice wobbles slightly, filled with emotions.
Locking my tear-filled eyes with him, I glance at the person who has been an important part of my life.
I can't believe I have finally found him.
Thank you for reading.
