Chapter 125
When Love Breaks by jack
Chapter 125
Stomach cancer?
My heart skipped a beat, my gaze shifting in disbelief towards my aunt. âHow⦠how did youâ¦?â
Before she could even utter a word, Allen chimed in, âLook, you can skimp on anything else, but when itâs about health, you gotta opt for the best.â
Glancing at Cheryl, I nodded in agreement. âThat makes sense. Iâve got around $200,000 saved up. give it all to Auntie for her treatment.â
I can
After all, I was on my ownâ¦
There wasnât much else I needed the money for
Money can be earned back, but once a person is gone⦠theyâre gone for good.
Allen, however, frowned in disapproval. âOnly $200,000?â
I was honest. âThatâs all I have.â
âDo you think Iâm a fool?â Allenâs voice rose in anger. âDonât think I donât know who you. married. I figured it out when that old guy from the Ferguson family in River City showed up with a hefty amount of money. $500,000 is just a drop in the bucket for you. Jane, I never realized you could be so cold-hearted!â
I felt a bitter taste in my throat, overwhelmed with a sense of helplessness. âIâm getting at divorce, Uncle. Iâll soon have no ties with the Ferguson family.â
Allen and Leroy were both shocked. âA divorce?!â
I nodded. âYes.â
Allen seemed surprised for a moment, then shrugged it off. âSo youâre getting a divorce. It doesnât mean itâs final. He wants the divorce, right? Ah, men always get tempted by the world out there. Just turn a blind eye, and itâll pass.â
âWeâve already applied for a divorce. It pretty much feels like weâre divorced already.â
Allen was quick to respond, âBut I heard that an application can be canceled, right?â
Frustrated, I replied, âUncle, this is my personal matter.â
Alright, alright.â
He brushed it off and went straight to the point. âAs long as you continue to support us and give all the money needed for your auntâs treatment, I donât care what happens to you.â
I tried to keep my patience. âWhat about the money Iâve given you before?â

Chapter 125
Over the years, including the wedding money, Imust have given them at least
And it had only been three years.
âWhereâs that money?â
$1,500,000.
Allen immediately got defensive, his temper flaring. âWhat do you mean? Your cousin is about to get married, doesnât he need a house and a car? The money you gave is barely enough for a down payment! How could there be anything left for your auntâ¦â
âEnough!â
Aunt Cheryl couldnât take it anymore. Struggling to sit up, she pointed at Allen and Leroy, âBoth of you, out!â
Allen and his son, two peas in a pod, acted as if they hadnât heard a thing.
Aunt Cheryl made a move to get out of bed. âFine, if you wonât leave, I will. I wonât bother with this illness!â
âSuch a temper, even when sick!â
Allen huffed and dragged Leroy out with him.
Finally, some peace.
I helped her lay back down and sighed. âWhen did you get sick? What did the doctors say? Is it serious?â
âThe doctors said it was caught early. Thereâs a good chance of survival for ten years.â Aunt Cheryl held my hand, her gaze soft. âSo, donât worry about me. And as for the money, you donât have to listen to him. I have enough for my treatment.â
âWhere did you get the moneyâ¦?â
âYouâve been transferring me $10,000 every month, right? I only gave him $3000 and kept the rest without him knowing. Plus, Iâve saved up a bit on my own over the years. It should be enough.â
