Chapter 335 - His Hunger Was Not In The Stomach
Forensic Doctor, Moe Wife
âWhat is it, Miss Qiqi?â Jing Yun asked Mu Qiqi.
âThereâs a man lecturing in Sheng Ting over the last few days. His last name is Xu, but I noticed that he looks a lot like you when I first saw himâespecially the eyes.â
Mu Qiqi then whipped out her phone and showed him a photo.
After hearing her story, Jing Yun took the phone she offered him and was promptly left stunned.
âDo you see the resemblance?
âWonât we know if we look into it?â Sheng Xiao was never one to obsess over photosâeverything would be clear after a DNA test.
âBut how could we get his DNA? What, are we supposed to ask directly?â
âWeâll decide after checking out his background.â Sheng Xiao said, reluctant to distract Jing Yun at the moment. âThe world is vast. There would always be similar looking people.â
âYouâre right, Xiao Xiao.â
Still, that was the first time Jing Yun felt a strange feeling. He had never yearned for having a relative still alive, and he was already satisfied with his life now whether he could find one.
Keeping things like it was now was fine too.
âAnd look at his face. He doesnât actually want distractions that would distance him from Fourth Sister.â Sheng Xiao said then, immediately exposing Jing Yunâs thoughts.
âBut I think you should know where you came from. It would be up to you whether you would acknowledge your relative.â Mu Qiqi added, believing that no one would live out their lives muddleheadedlyâeven Jing Yun would want to know who his parents were, and why he was left all alone.
Meanwhile, Jing Yun stared at the photo while weighing things inwardly.
âDo you remember why I insisted on bringing Qiâer home to the Shen family back then?â
Even though that effort didnât help Grandpa Sheng acknowledge Mu Qiqiâs identity, but the fact that she was a Shen had prevented the old man from stopping their engagement.
And Jing Yun understood Sheng Xiaoâs meaning.
Having a background and not having one was as different as heaven and earth.
âI will handle it as best as I could.â
Hence, without further ado, Sheng Xiao wrapped his arms around Mu Qiqi while telling Jing Yun, âSo? Arenât you going? Donât you have people waiting for you back home?â
âXiao Xiaoâ¦â
Mu Qiqi couldnât help throwing her fist on Sheng Xiaoâs chest. Who on earth chases off guests like that?
Nonetheless, having received his orders, Jing Yun turned and left Jing Ting. Many thoughts crossed his mind on his way home. Sheng Minglan had already made dinner when he reached home, and when he saw her busying around, he quickly hugged her from behind.
âHow was today? Did Sheng Xiao bully you? Didnât I tell you? Youâre his brother-in-law nowâ¦â
âNo, Iâm just a little tired and hungry.â
âStart eating, then.â
Picking up some eating utensils, Sheng Minglan was about to turn when Jing Yun caught her, put away the eating utensils and picked up her to place her on the kitchen bar.
âJing Yunâ¦â She was considerably shocked.
âSorry, but Iâm ravenous.â Jing Yun apologized tenderly before landing his lips on Sheng Minglanâs.
His hunger was not in the stomachâ¦
Sheng Minglan was stunnedâbut how hard was it for the blockhead Jing Yun to fool around?
Soon, the couple forgot about the food on the dinner table as the kitchen became a place for their nirvanaâ¦
And Jing Yun wasnât putting on his usual stoic face when he did that.
However, he jolted awake from a nightmare in the middle of the night. He gently pulled away his womanâs arms to find that it was three in the morning.
For some reason, he had not had that dream for a long time.
In that dream, he was being left behind by a burly man in a world of snow.
He couldnât see the manâs back clearly, but he remembered something he said:
âThis place is very far from home. You would never find your way back.â
And Jing Yun suddenly couldnât tell if that was dream or reality.
He lowered his eyes to Sheng Minglan who was fast asleep.
Jing Yun didnât wake up her up, but tiptoed out of bed.
He felt then that his birth was like Pandoraâs box.
Once opened, what awaited might not be a scene of long-lost relations embracing in a tearful reunion.
***
Two days later.
The Lin residence.
Grandpa Lin had intended to cut his grandson off to teach that rascal a lesson.
But with days going by without a whiff from Lin Muâan, he started thinking.
Was he really angry this time? Was he hiding now?
He therefore tried searching for him, only to have Muâanâs former manager inform him, âYour grandson is insisting on his independence. He has no intention of following your arrangements, which is why he hopes that you wouldnât bother him. Look: every endorsement, work and company he had is now called off.â
Old Lin immediately felt that something was off, and actually sent someone to shadow Lu Qianqianâto find that Lin Muâan wasnât with her.
Nonetheless, he kept asking around and eventually learnt where Lin Muâan was.
He had actually enrolled again to the police academy behind his familyâs back!
Old Lin clutched his chest and stumbled a few steps backward when he received the news. âThat bastard! Doesnât he know thatâs the one thing I donât want him to do? He could only be satisfied if he rebels!â
He hence stormed to the academy, demanding to meet Lin Muâan, but his grandson was already in full uniform and having the air of an officer.
Lin Muâan naturally knew he would come.
âCome home with me. If you do, I wonât protest who you befriend. Fool around with anyone or however you like, as long as you leave this academy.â
Lin Muâan, however, remained unmoved as he refused Old Linâs request. âNo, Grandfather. I enrolled here again not to fight you. Iâve wanted to become a policeman all along.â
âItâs dangerous!â The old man exclaimed anxiously.
âItâs my choice.â
That only left the old man upset.
âIn the end, youâre still getting back at me⦠No. I would never allow you to stay here. Youâre a grandchild of the Lin family; you donât have to put your life on the line.â
âGrandfather, I will stay here. You canât stop me this time.â Lin Muâan said determinedly.
âIâm talking to the principal⦠and your director.â
âGo on if you think that would work.â
Lin Muâan was simply not budging. He is not leaving the academy even though Grandpa Lin had used everything in his disposal since he was not violating academy rules.
The old man was left flustered soon enough. How did his obedient grandchild become so rebellious?
Feeling nauseated, Grandpa Lin clutched his chest and fainted when he eventually returned to his study. The Lin family quickly phoned Lin Muâan, who merely replied, âTake good care of him. Just pretend that his insolent grandchild was never born.â
He was really not compromising at all, because he wanted to be a functional person as well.
As such, Papa Lin and Mama Lin had to rush home to take care of the old man. They were usually serving in the military and therefore rarely had time for their son, and therefore couldnât do a thing with Lin Muâan acting so determined.
