There’s still a lengthy distance that needs to be covered, especially for smaller ships. Despite also having warp engines, the cooldown time for a warp jump is long and the distances per jump relatively short. Likely no more than a couple of light years at most.

For distances that are significantly larger, even large ships like Jasmine Davis’s would require lots of time. This highlights the gap between military and civilian space craft. Consider that during the time when the surveillance bureau transported Finn Lewis from the Death Star to the galaxy, they managed to do so with just one warp jump!

Even the ship that Caleb Shaw sold to Finn Lewis has a maximum warp distance of 5000 light years. You should know, the total diameter of the Milky Way is no more than 180,000 light years and the thickness no more than 18000 light years. However, this data is obtained from the Galactic Federation. The data on Earth states that the Milky Way’s diameter is 120,000 light years, with this discrepancy being as large as 60,000 light years.

Whose data is more accurate? Isn’t that obvious?

The journey to meet up with Jasmine Davis’s ship will take three more days. It’s kind of boring, especially since this is a small ship. The available facilities can hardly compare to those on Jasmine Davis’s large ship. After a couple of warp jumps on the small ship, only 12 hours have passed but it feels as if several days have dragged on for Finn Lewis.

Fortunately, Luna Starfield’s awesomeness isn’t for show or you could say that the Galactic Federation’s technology isn’t mediocre. Finn Lewis can watch movies produced by the Galactic Federation or play games without losing internet connection during the ship’s flight and warp jumps. Honestly, this network is superb.

What really piques Finn Lewis’s interest is the Galactic Federation’s accomplishment of true virtual reality technology—an immersive virtual reality that’s indistinguishable from reality—allowing for a range of special movies and high quality games to be experienced. At least, these games are way cooler than those on Earth.

Just when Finn Lewis was about to settle down with a game, Luna Starfield’s voice suddenly tensed, “Your Highness, something’s wrong!”

“Your Highness, as I’ve mentioned, my privileges are highly advanced. The reason why the star-field network can span the entire area controlled by the Galactic Federation is because the network actually has its own nodes throughout the entire Milky Way. In reality, these network nodes are equipped with functions that allow for location tracking and capturing warships. However, virtually no one has the authority to use such functions. I discovered them only because they logged into the star-field network and infiltrated the federation’s surveillance network through illegal means to search for your ship,” Luna Starfield anxiously explained.

“I traced their signal and found out that they are from a pirate group,” Luna Starfield quickly added.

Finn Lewis froze for a moment. Although he did not fully understand the workings of the federation, he seemed to know from Luna Starfield’s words just how remarkable it was for her to pull this off! Damn, does this mean she can monitor virtually the entire Milky Way? That’s insane.

However, this was not the time to ponder over this. Finn Lewis quickly asked, “How long do we have before they can track us down?”

“If we calculate based on the current situation, they’ll be able to find us approximately 39 hours from now. Because we don’t have any large spaceships, the likelihood of us evading their tracking is slim. If they manage to locate you, Your Highness, the chances of your survival will be less than one in ten thousand,” Luna Starfield exclaimed anxiously.

“Thanks a lot,” Finn Lewis retorted sarcastically. With odds less than one in ten thousand, might as well tell me that I’m doomed. Think about it, if these ships catch up to me, then I’m good as dead. Finn Lewis didn’t believe that these pirates were trying to kidnap him.

However, Finn Lewis quickly forced himself to remain calm. He didn’t immediately seek Zero’s help—Zero wasn’t all-powerful, and even if it was, Finn Lewis couldn’t always rely on it. He needed to see if he could resolve this crisis on his own first.

“Luna, is there a way to handle this crisis?”

“Yes, based on my calculations, we have a 34 percent chance of escaping,” Luna Starfield quickly responded.

“Let’s hear it.” They still had more than 30 hours, there was still time.
