Chapter 209-1
Not A Small-Town Girl
But if you look at it from another angle, the rumors swirling around David, Logan was just as fed up with hearing them from Polly every day. He grabbed his phone and called David.
When Polly saw Logan pick up the phone, she couldnât help but smirk. Looks like her daily visits werenât in vain. No matter the reason, as long as they could get the guy out of the mess first.
"Your call cannot be completed at this time."
Logan wasnât giving up that easily and tried again.
"Your call cannot be completed at this time."
What the hell was this kid doing?
"Still not picking up?" Tara asked, leaning over. She hadnât seen David in days. That brat didnât even bother coming to check on her, completely heartless.
"No, Iâll try Nathan instead," Logan muttered.
The same voice message. What the hell, one after another, acting like they owned the place.
"Iâll be damned. All of them out playing adventurer now, huh? No one picking up my calls." Logan rolled his eyes at the phone. Damn cheeky.
And Logan was right. David was indeed off on an adventure, and it was a dangerous one.
Polly, frantic, was almost at her witâs end. She had only just convinced Logan to call David, and now that little brat, who acted like he was trying to get on her bad side, wasnât picking up. She certainly didnât want to keep coming to the old mansion and put up with Logan and Taraâs faces.
"Dad, didnât David pick up? Could he have blocked your number, knowing youâd try to call?"
Loganâs temper flared instantly. Block him? How dare he?
"Tara, use your phone and try calling that brat."
Tara pulled out her phone and dialed Davidâs number.
"Your call cannot be completed at this time."
"Iâll try his office," Tara said, already getting frustrated.
The phone rang for a long time before, finally, it was answered.
"Brat, whatâs wrong with your phone? Not even picking up calls from your grandparents? Getting all high and mighty, huh? You havenât even come back to visit your grandma in days!" Tara immediately launched into a tirade the second the phone connected, not giving David a chance to say a word.
Before David could speak, Tara kept going, "Whatâs with you, huh? Playing dumb, you ungrateful little brat."
Just as she was about to continue, Patrick quickly jumped in, "Tara, itâs Patrick. Mr. Charrington is not in the office today." He was just there to pick up a file and took the call by coincidence.
"Where is he? Why canât I reach him?" Taraâs voice, strong and commanding, cut through the receiver.
Patrick, fully aware of Taraâs fiery temper back in the day, hurriedly explained, "He went to find Mrs. Charrington. Theyâre in an area with no signal. Is there anything I can pass along?"
Tara immediately softened. "Theyâre with Danielle? Are they in danger? When will they be back?"
Patrick wasnât sure when theyâd return but said, "They went to Blackpool Village. Itâs safe there, but I donât know when theyâll be back, probably not for too long."
"Blackpool Village? Whatâs that place? No signal? And wait, is Fiona still alive?" Tara, already irritated by Polly, tossed in a casual question.
