I shifted in my seat as my calc teacher explained some problems. Grace sat next to me and was dozing off.
I couldn't pay attention to a single thing the calc teacher was saying. I felt eyes on me and it sent a shiver down my spine. What the heck? I thought.
I sneakily turned around only to see no one watching me. It was weird..
I shook Grace awake. "Wake up you idiot!" I harshly whispered.
Grace groaned and glared at me. "What." she asked.
"Does it feel like someone's watching us?" I asked.
She gave me an odd look with the raise of her brows and shrugged. "Dunno. I feel nothing." She openly looked back, making it so obvious that she was looking for someone.
"You idiot!" I swung her around. "You're making it so obvious!"
She grinned. "All I saw back there was Kane and a bunch of his jock friends snickering."
"I don't care about your crush."
"It's not a crush! First off, I like girls and secondly, why can't I just appreciate he's hot?" I rolled my eyes at that statement.
Kane was popular dudeâ I'll give him that. Sure, he was attractive but he kind of gave me a bad vibe. Brown hair and soulless green eyes. Looking at him, I could barely tell if he feels anything at all. Not once have I seen that dude smile. Although he's popular in looks, personality wise, he's cold and distant.
I would assume he's around 5'10 to 6ft. Who am I to know? Heights are confusing. Kane looked.. intimidating. A slim but muscular build, a gentle way of talking and walking.
I almost vomited in my mouth. He was scarier than my siblingsâ and I know scary.
His green eyes met mine. Just as immediately as we locked eye contact, I looked away.
I felt my heart beating fast. His eyes looked as if they landed on some bug when he glanced at me. My breath was caught in my throat. Why did a simple glance make me so nervous?
He was almost as intimidating as my father.
"Caleb?" Grace asked, worry lacing her words. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah im fine." I forced out. "It's nothing.."
Grace gave me a look of disapproval but nodded. "Talk to me if you need to, okay?"
I nodded in response.
I slowly looked back at Kane and he was still staring. His lips twitched up into a smirk and he tilted his head as if asking why I was looking. It looked strangely odd on him to smile in any way.
I turned back, confused and lost.
What. The. Fuck.

Lunch was chaotic. My other friends had met up with us and claimed a table. For a public school, the cafeteria was huge. It took up half the school and was completely unnecessary.
"Anyone else confused on the History homework?" Damien asked. He was one of my friends and was a complete geek who certainly looked like one too. Blue eyes and dirty blonde hair with a pair of large-frame glasses.
"Man I don't know, aren't you like the smart one here?" Alisha asked. Another one of my female friends who had a personality that looked nothing like her. She was the opposite of Damien and honestly, I shipped them.
"Well obviously, Alisha, I wasn't talking to you. You're too much of an idiot to understand!" Damien mused.
"Say that again dickhead!" Alisha shouted, reaching over the table to grab him. I dodged out of the way.
"Ouch!"
I giggled as I watched Damien get tackled by a girl half his size.
"Grace, make sure they don't destroy the table while I get my food." I said, standing up. Grace nodded while chewing on a sandwich she had.
I had waited a couple of minutes for the lunch line to become smaller and it did the trick. The lunches here were terrible and costed money. I never brought food from homeâ mostly because i'm constantly late and don't have time too and the fact that I can't cook. Nobody in the Chartier house ever bothers helping me make food and even the maids don't bring anything for me.
So basically, the school food and a couple of snacks is what I survive on in a day.
I typed in my lunch number while holding the tray in my hand. 102377.
My lunch account never runs out of money. I was guessing that "Glint" was the one constantly adding money. He'd given me a note about it saying,
Don't starve yourself.
To help, I'll put money in your account.
Eat everyday,
I'll be watching.
I don't even know how I remembered the note, but it was just stuck in my head. Something about it gave me an eerie feeling. "I'll be watching."
When I first saw it I was confused how someone could spend money on me of all people. If this person really did care about me, why haven't they shown themselves by now? Why haven't they revealed their true identity and motive? Why?
Then an idea occurred to me. Why don't I give them a note back?
I was so stupid to not have done that years ago. It was clear that they were in my school, around my age, and undeniably obsessive. They would most likely reply if I wrote something to them.
After I came back to the lunch table, I pulled the note I found earlier out. Grace, Damien, and Alisha weren't paying attention to me. I could probably yell loudly and it wouldn't make it past their loud voices.
I planned to make a sticky note with questions on it and put it in my locker the next day.
If they didn't respond, I wouldn't know what to do with my life.
