Kyla stiffened as her ears heard Martin Weiss say, âIâve shown you the wound you wanted to see the last time, didnât I? Whatâs the matter? Are you still interested?â
She said with a sob, âI just wanted to see if your wound burst open. You carried me all the way hereâ¦â
âIâm not too weak that I canât walk this far. Besides, do you think the wound I got more than two months ago will burst open again?â He mocked her in reply.
Kyla paused, finding herself foolish. It had been more than two months since his wound was sutured, and he did not feel any discomfort. He was naturally fine.
Martin Weiss ordered the driver, âDrive.â
The car slowly drove away from Weiss Residence and headed toward the mansion.
Kyla sat silently in the backseat and said nothing until Martin Weiss suddenly asked, âWhy did you go out alone when youâve hurt your foot? Did my mother contact you and ask you to leave the mansion to meet her?â
He learned that she had left the mansion alone after receiving news that her motherâs staff had taken her to Weiss Residence.
âNo, I only left the mansion to buy some medicine for my ankle. Then I met your motherâs subordinate in front of the drugstore after buying my medicineâ¦â While speaking halfway, she exclaimed as if she had recalled something, âI left the medicine I bought at your momâs house! Can you⦠get the car to stop at a drugstore so that I can buy a new one?â
He frowned. âThe mansion has a regular supply of such medicine. How foolish are you to go out and buy it yourself? Didnât you ask the servants?â
The corners of Kylaâs mouth twitched as she said to the driver in the front row, âDriver, can you please stop if you pass by a pharmacy? Iâll get down to buy some medicine.â
Martin Weissâs eyes glimmered slightly before he said to the driver, âDonât stop. Drive straight back to the mansion.â
âBut I need to buy the medicine,â said Kyla.
âI said we have it in the mansion. Just ask the servants for it.â
âButâ¦â
âThey wonât give it to you?â Martin Weiss asked as he went straight to the point.
Kyla pressed her red lips together tightly, and Martin Weiss knew he was right. âYouâre Mrs. Weiss. How could the servants bully you so?â
âThe servants at the mansion donât think of me as Mrs. Weiss,â
said Kyla. Due to his attitude toward her, the servants did not give her the respect she deserved. They even secretly speculated when she would divorce him and leave.
Although Kyla never said the second half, Martin Weiss could figure it out.
âAre you blaming me, then?â he asked.
âI donât blame you. Weâre supposed to be divorced, and itâs only natural that youâre indifferent to me,â Kyla said calmly.
However, the calm tone of her voice made him feel uncomfortable.
When the car arrived at the mansionâs entrance, Kyla opened the car door and was about to get down when Martin Weiss passed the car rear and picked Kyla up.
Kyla was shocked. âI⦠I can walk by myselfâ¦â
My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict!
âYouâre going to slowly limp into the house?â he asked.
She was instantly speechless. Her teeth bit her lower lip, and a faint blush rose on her cheeks.
Even though he was probably only carrying her because her walking slowly would annoy him or it was because of sympathy, she felt a long-lost sense of security as she lay in his arms.
Martin Weiss carried Kyla to the living room and placed her carefully on the couch before instructing the servants, âGo get the medical kit and get Nurse Ruan to treat Madamâs injured ankle.â
âYes,â a servant replied and hurried out of the living room to look for Shana Nicholls.
The other servants in the living room watched with some surprise in their eyes. The servant who had turned Kyla down when she asked for a medical kit now had a look of fear on their face.
They were deeply afraid that Kyla would tell Martin Weiss about it and they would lose their job.
