âLoneliness?â Amber smiled and said, âFor me, what scares me the most is not loneliness, but not knowing the purpose of living. Now, I have goals, children, and friends. Thatâs enough. As the saying goes, âHow can you tell if a fish is happy?ââ
Grace smiled in relief upon hearing this, âYouâre right, I was overthinking things.â
She spoke and lightly clinked her glass with Amberâs, then they both drank it all in one go.
On the other side, Brian looked at Martin and said, âI heard you and Kyla took wedding photos?â
âYes,â Martin replied. âSpeaking of which, you said something right back then.â
âWhat did I say?â Brian asked.
âYou said that if itâs something youâve experienced, even if itâs painful, you donât want to forget it,â
Martin said. âMaybe if you had told me that earlier, Kyla and I could have avoided some detours.â
âItâs not too bad now. Maybe detours are for a better future,â
Brian said.
âThatâs true,â Martin said lightly. âSo, when will we hear your good news?â
âGood news?â Brian was confused.
âA child, last time we met, everyone was guessing when your and Valda will have a child,â Martin said, patting Brianâs shoulder.
âItâs not something we can rush,â Brian said, although he really wanted one, he didnât want to pressure Valda.
âIt canât be rushed, but if your child is too far apart in age from our children, it will be difficult for them to play together,â Martin said, patting Brianâs shoulder.
After all, the group of people they were talking about, the younger ones, are still quite young.
âYou wonât believe it, but Iâm sure they were discussing children among themselves today,â Martin said.
Before Brian could respond, Hadwin walked over and said, âI believe it, and my wife will probably have a lot of ideas to contribute.â
Hadwin knows very well how many worms are in his own wifeâs belly.
âI heard your wife is often driven crazy by your future son-in-law,â Jason casually remarked as he approached.
âWhether he will be my future son-in-law remains to be seen. It depends on what Tina thinks when she grows up,â Hadwin said.
âIf Tina doesnât want to, are you planning to break the engagement?â Jason looked at Hadwin and said, âHunter is not easy to deal with.â
âI know, and besides, Hunter saved Lina and Tina back then.
But as a father, I also hope my daughter can be happy. If she really doesnât love that boy, then Iâ¦â
Hadwin didnât finish his sentence.
But everyone understood what Hadwin meant.
As a father, how could he bear to let his daughter lose her happiness because of a promise?
âIt will be a tough battle,â said Jason.
âI know, but itâs still early,â Hadwin smiled. After all, the child is still young and no one can predict what the future holds.
A few men were chatting when suddenly Lina suggested playing a game together. She felt that since everyone was gathered, it would be a waste to just chat and not do anything fun.
âI have to leave early because I have the morning shift tomorrow and need to go to work. You guys can keep playing,â said Amber.
âAre we leaving now?â Lina said with some regret.
Grace said, âWe should get together more often in the future. Itâs not like this is the only time weâll meet.â Then, she turned to Amber and said, âIâll have my driver take you home.â
âNo need, Iâll just take a taxi back,â said Amber.
âLet the driver take you back, Iâll feel more at ease,â said Grace. As she spoke, she picked up her phone and dialed the driverâs number. After a moment, she turned to Amber and said, âThe driver is outside, youâll see him as soon as you leave the club.â
âOkay, thanks,â said Amber before leaving.
