Chapter 784
My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict!
âInns donât have a nice environment.
Hotels have a better environment,â said Lina Sweeney.
âI can only afford an inn with the money I have right now,â said Grace.
Lina Sweeney hurriedly said, âIf youâre worried about not having enough money, I can-â
âLina, thank you for your kindness, but I want to do this on my own,â said Grace.
âYes, I have to rely on myself to survive in this world!â
Lina Sweeney opened her mouth, but in the end, she said nothing. She knew that her best friend had her pride!
After booking the inn, Lina Sweeney asked Hadwin Stephenson to buy some food. Then in the room, she asked her best friend what exactly happened and why she broke up with Jason for no reason.
âHe said he was tired and didnât want to love me anymore. He never really believed me throughout this relationship.â Grace smiled bitterly and said in self-mockery, âI guess Iâm not suited for a relationship after all!â
âGrace, donât smile like that. It makes me sad when you smile like that.â Lina Sweeney suddenly hugged her and said, âGrace, just cry if you want to cry. Arenât we best friends? Iâll be on your side no matter what!
âJason hurt you. Iâll help you find a better boyfriend and you can piss him off when the time comes!
âDonât keep all your grievances and sadness in your heart. Vent it out whenever you have to!â
Lina Sweeney kept saying.
Grace leaned on her best friendâs shoulder and felt that the coldness in her body was finally fading away now.
âMy lifeline is Lina after all!
âHow am I ever gonna repay Lina for being so kind to me?â
âI⦠canât cry. I mustâve finished all my tears,â murmured Grace.
âYouâ¦â
âAlright, Lina. Iâm not as fragile as you think. Itâs just having my heart broken. Itâs not like itâs never been broken before,â
said Grace.
Lina Sweeney sighed and looked at her best friend who was in front of her. Then, in a tone of mock relief, she said, âYouâre right. Itâs only having your heart broken. Itâs no big deal! Itâs just losing one guy. Thereâll be a better one!â
âA better one?â Graceâs eyes dimmed. âIâm afraid Iâll never have the courage to date for the third time.
âI may be doomed to a lonely life.!
Lina Sweeney helped Grace pack her bags and waited until Hadwin Stephenson came with the dinner he bought. They then ate dinner with Grace.
When Hadwin Stephenson came up, he even bought a cake and birthday candles.
Lina Sweeney put the candles on. The candles formed the digits â28â, and the colors looked so bright.
âAlright, we can finally eat your birthday cake together. Make a wish, Grace!â said Lina Sweeney. Even though today was a bad day, she still hoped that Grace could spend her birthday well.
At least she had someone to share the cake with on her birthday.
âWish⦠Grace looked at the candles. âMy wish was to grow old with Jason, have children with Jason, and have a happy family together.
âBut my wish nowâ¦â She closed her eyes
