Chapter 163
The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn
The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn Chapter 163 BOOK 2 CHAPTER 86 ~DAMON~
Atticus rushes to my side, and so does Dante. He was still angry with me, but he was ready to fight to protect me.
Austin and Hunter move to protect their mates if needed.
âWhatâs wrong with her?â Isabella asks in horror. âWhat can we do to help her?â
âMove out of my way.â Clarissa orders in a voice I couldnât even recognize.
âI only want him.â She says as she points at me.
Atticus moves in front of me, ready to fight back.
âNo!â I shout. âNo one is going to hurt her. Thatâs still Clarissa. She doesnât know what sheâs doing.â
âAre we supposed just to stand back and watch you get hurt?â Atticus demands from me. âWe need to do something to protect you, at least.â
I pick myself off the ground and push him out of the way. âEveryone stay back.â
Clarissaâs eyes focus on me. âPretending to be my mate just to hurt me.â She shouts. âIâm going to show you what real pain feels like.â
âI donât think sheâs kidding,â Griffin says as he looks at me. âAre you sure about this?â
âI am!â I shout. âEveryone move back so that no one else gets hurt.â
They do as I say, but I know that if Clarissa does hurt me, they will step in. I had to prevent that from happening. I had to protect her no matter what.
âIâm not pretending to be Damon.â I try to explain to her. âThose men lied to you. I am your Damon. Iâm still the man you fell in love with. I havenât changed Clarissa. Iâm not going anywhere. Iâm staying here to prove to you that I love you. Do you hear me? I love you, Clarissa. I love you so much that it hurts!â
Her hands tighten into fists at her sides. Iâve seemed to anger her even more than before. I thought telling her I loved her would help, but it only worsened things.
âYouâre lying!â She screams as a burst of flames is thrown directly at me. I dodged it before it could hit me, but I didnât move fast enough to miss the second one.
I roar in pain as it comes into contact with my shoulder. I fell onto the ground but quickly got straight back up. I didnât want to give my family a chance to interfere.
âDamon,â Dante growls. âWhat the f**k do you think youâre doing?â He demands. âShe will kill you if we donât stop her.â
âNo.â I disagree. âShe will never kill me. Clarissa will never let that happen. She will stop herself in time. I know she will.â
Her eyes narrow, and she takes a step towards me.
âDonât stop,â I tell her. âGo ahead and let all of your emotions out. I will prove to you one way or the other that Iâm your Damon.â
âAre you insane?â Atticus demands. âWhy the hell are you provoking her?â
âIgnore them,â I tell her. âJust pay attention to me.â
If my mate were truly gone, if the darkness had consumed her completely, she would have gotten rid of me a long time ago. The fact that she was hesitating meant that she was still conscious of what was happening. Sheâd just lost control of her body.
âYouâre going to regret not listening to them.â Clarissa threatens me as she lifts her hands into the air.
I prepared myself for another one of her attacks. She was powerful, my mate. Beautiful also. She was so damn beautiful, even when she was trying to kill me.
I wince when the flames hit me harder this time; Iâm thrown into the air and against a tree with so much force that it cracks behind me.
âThatâs enough!â My brothers roar.
âClarissa, this is enough! We are not going to let you hurt him anymore!â Dante shouts.
âWe donât want to hurt you,â Atticus tells her. âSo please stop this before it gets to that point.â
She chuckles, âDo you three think you stand a chance against me?â
I wince at the pain in my head as I struggle to get up. I donât care about the bruises as I force myself to walk towards her.
âDonât,â I shout at my brothers. âDonât do it!â
âI think you have no choice but to let us step in,â Hunter tells me. âShe needs help. If we can stop her in time, we can find a way to give her control of her body once more before itâs too late.â
âNo.â I insist. âI can do this. I can stop her.â
âWeâve given you enough time.â Atticus insisted.
âWait!â Autumn shouts. âDonât hurt her.â
Everyone turns to look at her.
Iâm happy that she at least was on my side. She, indeed, was Clarissaâs sister. She would do anything to protect her as well. I knew my brothers didnât want to hurt her either; to them, she was also their sister, but they were more determined to save me from her. At least Autumn would still choose to protect her under these circumstances.
âI can help.â She says. âI can feel my power returning. I can protect him while he tries to get to her.â
Thatâs a good idea. Autumn had the opposite power to Clarissa. She could control water. If she could protect me long enough from the fire, this might work.
âOkay,â Atticus says. âBut if this doesnât work, we are all stepping in.â
This meant that no matter what, this plan had to work. I didnât know what I was planning on doing, but whatever it was, I had to think of it fast.
âReady?â Autumn asks me. I nod, and soon after, Iâm surrounded by a water barrier.
Clarissa stiffens when I approach her, but it doesnât stop me. I keep walking until weâre inches apart.
âStay back!â She growls. Thereâs fire all around her, but it cannot hurt me, not with Autumnâs protection.
I buried my hands into her hair and whispered, âI love you. I love you so much, Clarissa.â
I can hear her breathing increase rapidly at my words.
I moved my face so that my mouth was right below her ear. I was going to claim herâsomething I should have done a long time ago.
âStop!â Clarissa screams as she thrashes against my hold on her. Itâs getting hotter; Autumnâs shield could only do so much. I had to move quickly.
I sink my teeth into Clarissaâs neck, and her cry echoed throughout the forest.
I was marking her, claiming her as mine. I didnât know what else to do to bring her back to me. I hoped this would remind her of our love for each other. I was hoping that it would be enough to save her.
Please. Please come back to me. Please, Clarissa.
Come back.
