Chapter 81
Savvy Son-in-law by VKBoy
CHAPTER 81 Jane came to Sterling villa in the evening because Rebecca called for her.
She didnât look to be in a good mood when she entered the room, so Rebecca asked, âYou look dull. Whatâs wrong?â
âNothing,â she said and sat on Benjaminâs bed which was again pushed away from Rebeccaâs bed, but now it was only two feet apart. âDonovan left me at the shopping mall, and he didnât return. He didnât answer my phone call, either.â
âIt looks like this is the first time it happened with him.â
âYeah. This is a bad sign, right?â Jane asked.
âWell, heâs a famous wrestler, so heâs gotta be busy at least one day of the week.â
âYou are right, but... Anyway, why did you call me?â
âUh,âRebecca looked a little embarrassed. She kept scratching her cheek. âI told you about the wedding reception, didnât I?â
âYeah, you did, and thatâs the right thing to do, or you would have lost him, trust me,â Jane sounded proud of her. âYou should have done this long ago, to be honest.â
âThe thing is... I told him weâll have the reception after my one month recovery at the gym.â âOh boy, how did he react?â
He didnât say anything, but I can tell he didnât like it. âOf course, he wouldnât. You tell him, âletâs have a reception,â one night, and then the next day, âno, letâs wait a month.â Are you kidding me? It would be weird if he just smiled and went along with your stupid, selfish request. Asking him to postopone having sex becuase of your injury is one thing, but whatâs your little injury gotta do with the reception?â âL-Little injury?â a vein bulged in Rebeccaâs forehead. She would have grappled with Jane if she had recovered enough.
âOf course, it is little, compared to mine,â Jane pulled a portion of hair on her head and revealed a mark on her scalp. âDid you forget?â âNo, I didnât.â A buffalo had tossed Jane over a car when Jane was in highschool. She suffered a nasty head injury and was in a comatose state for six days. Afterward, it took her a couple of years to regrow the hair at the wounded, stitched spot.
âLook here, Rebecca. You have a man who could earn enough for himself, but he stayed with you because he saw something in you,â Janeâs gaze grew serious. âIf it was just your outward beauty, he wouldnât have slept in your room for months and never tried to sleep with you. Everyone cares about the gold, but no one cares about the soil it comes from. Itâs the same with us women. Men care about our flesh , but not the heart beneath. There are exceptions, of course, and I believe Benjamin is an exception, like how there will be those who care more about the soil than the gold.â
Rebeccaâs expression visibly brightened, âWhy do you have such a positive opinion about him when you only met him a few times?â She sat straight to appear big. âBecause Iâm Jane! I can tell what a manâs thinking from the number of times he blinks and stares at a woman, bwahahaha.â âGeez, youâre such a show-off.â Ashley entered the room and served Jane some spicy food and sweets. Seeing the bandage on Ashelyâs jaw, she asked, âWhat happened to your jaw? Itâs quite swollen. Itâs not mumps, is it?»
Ashley shook her head and then stood there, but after Jane gestured to her to leave, she had to walk out. (Benjaminâs not here.
When he returns home in the evening, what should I do? Arlo told me to kill him, but Arlo can go fuck himself. I canât kill Benjamin. Heâs a hardworking guy who loves his wife, and I love that about him. Heâs the husband I wish I had. If only he fell for me, I would have run away with him to some place, but thatâs not possible as long as Rebeccaâs around. Heâs too blinded by her beauty and charm. I should get her out of the picture permanently, and then I can have Benjamin all for myself!) She then frowned. (But how do I get rid of her from Benjaminâs mind?)
She came to the roofed balcony to serve Selena an afternoon drink âWhere the hell are you aiming? Aim higher!â Selena was busy shouting at Johnny who kept shooting at the parrots with a slingshot. âWhat sort of butler are you if you canât even hit two birds?â
The parrots flew from one tree to another and kept touring the garden but didnât leave the villa even though Johnny persistently went after them.
Selena had already tried feeding poisoned food that morning, but the parrots didnât touch the food this time. So she had to resort to this.
Watching Johnny, Ashley got an idea. âThatâs right. I could use that idiot.â She ended up speaking out loud, causing Selenaâs head to turn toward her.
âWhat?â
âN-Nothing, maâam.â Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the city. Benjamin brought Devon, who had fallen sick, to one of his sonâs houses and dropped him there and handed some money over in the name of the Sterling family. They thought he was a butler at the villa, and they expressed their thanks. He also gave them a warning in the name of Jacob so that they wouldnât mistreat Devon.
As he was returning, he entered through a tunnel. After going deep enough, he had to stop the car all of a sudden. Three cars were blocking the path in the front. Three more cars just arrived and blocked his rear, also.
Only the car lights provided the light in the underground tunnel. There were at least thirty of them in total, holding all sorts of weapons from baseball bats to COMETER 81 knives and knuckle dusters. The one leading them, Edward, was holding a gun. He walked to the front and shot at Benjaminâs car, the red Porsche, aiming to kill the driver. He emptied all the sixteen rounds in the magazine. âKekeke,â he was chewing bubble gum fast and cackling.â Go and fetch his body. Weâll bury it deep in the woods. Not even foxes should find it.â âYeah,â his friend was walking forward, but the sound of the Porsche engine revving up alerted everyone. Though they couldnât clearly see if the driver was alive or dead, they could tell that someone was definitely still in the driverâs seat. âThis fucker isnât dead?â Edward frowned. âEveryone, go and kill this damned son-in-law...â before he finished his sentence, the Porsche came dashing at them with full acceleration.â This motherfucker is crazy!â
