Chapter 9
Savvy Son-in-law by VKBoy
CHAPTER 09 Rebecca was driving the car. Benjamin was in the back, slightly shaking his head.
âAre you still thinking about the gift?â she asked. âAh, yeah.â
âItâs understandable. I havenât seen such a gift before, either. 25 kilos of pure gold in the form of coins. Itâs worth more than 3 million dollars. The coins seem stylized, so they might sell for more if they auction it. That would not only cover the wedding expenses but would also help the couple start a beautiful journey together,â she sounded like she envied a little. She didnât care about the money, but would she also have received such a surprising gift if she had held a wedding? Would anyone in the world care enough for her or family to send her 25 kilos worth of gold? She could only wonder.
âA beautiful journey, huh...â Benjamin wasnât so sure about that. After dropping him off at work, Rebecca left. And Benjamin experienced one of the worst job days since he started working at Ryeâs Pizzas. Not a single customer gave him a tip today, and to add to that, Christopher didnât believe his stories when Benjamin told him how they kept talking about current affairs and the weather and what not and didnât let him go without wasting his precious time. The last customer of the day, a dude in his girlfriendâs undies, asked him for a discount after making the order. It was really a hectic and frustrating day for him. Rubbing salt to his wounds, one of the coworkers, Jasmine, showed off to others that she received a 40 dollar tip because the customer didnât have change for the 100 dollar bill. Chirstopher would have robbed 30 dollars out of that 40 dollar tip, but he didnât. This made many other coworkers wonder if he was trying to make a good impression on Jasmine in order to get her to climb into his bed. It wasnât pleasant on the eyes because he was over forty and obese, and she was under twenty and in perfect shape.
For today, though, Christopher just received a hug from Jasmine, and he went over the moon because of that, even though he was just too big for Jasmine to give him a proper hug.
Benjamin, however, knew Jasmine from the one encounter he had that she was completely fooling and curry favoring Christopher, but it was none of his business.
After work, Benjamin waited outside. It was 4:30, but Rebecca didnât come. Minutes passed. He still waited outside.
Around five oâclock. A black Mercedes stopped by, and Jane Cooper stepped out in a skimpy skirt that revealed her toned thighs.
âIâm glad youâre waiting here,â she put her sunglasses on because the sun was still out. âBenjamin, right?â
Benjamin recognized her, but he said, âWho are you?â
âYou donât remember me?â her mouth slightly widened. âIâm your wifeâs best friend. We met only a few days back.â
âOh, yeah, right,â Benjamin forced out a laugh. âWhat brought you here? Perhaps, you want a Ryeâs pizza?â âI donât give two shits about pizzas. No offense. Iâm here because your wife told me to take you home.â
âWhat? Why couldnât she come?â he asked, worrying if something happened to her. âWell, sheâs busy, thatâs why. So get on,â she went back to her car and sat in the driverâs seat. Benjamin, however, started walking away. âYouâve gotta be kidding me,â she pushed her glasses up and poked her head out. âHey, Benjamin!â she called out for him, but he didnât stop. âAre you deaf?â she blew the horn a few times, but that didnât change anything. She started the engine and caught up with him.â Whatâs wrong with you? I came all this way to pick you up, and this is how you treat me?â âI feel like walking today,â Benjamin picked up his pace.
âYou can go.â âHuh,â she stopped the car for a second and thought, âthis guyâs unbelievable.â After some thinking, she caught up with him again. âHey, listen, if you get in the car, Iâll help you get closer to your wife. How does that sound? Tempting, isnât it?â As she expected, Benjamin stopped. She smirked. âWhat? Donât feel like walking anymore?â âYeah,â he sat in the back row.
âCome over the front, dude,â she said. âIâm not gonna eat you.â He hesitantly listened to her and sat in the front seat next to her.
Her bare thighs caught his eyes. She didnât have as beautiful of legs as his wife did, but she had a pretty good physique, too.
âSeeing you steal glances at my thighs, it makes me feel bad for you,â she remarked. âI wasnât staring,â Benjamin was quick to reply. âI just briefly looked, thatâs all.â âI can understand. You have an angel for a wife. Sheâs got the best legs among the women Iâve seen. Even I sometimes feel like smothering those thighs with kisses,â Jane bluntly said. âI canât even imagine how hard it must have been to control yourself from jumping onto her every night.â âCan we talk about important things?â Benjamin tried to divert the topic.
âSure.â
âHow can you help change her attitude toward me?â he asked.
âWell, your wife is used to men lusting after her and shamelessly chasing her all the time,â Jane said, âso I bet sheâs not used to men who treat her brutally or coldly because itâs always been her who treated men indifferently.â
âSo you want me to have her taste her own medicine?â. âNo. That might only make her angry. You just need to make it seem like youâre not the same as the dogs that chase after her.â
âMake it seem?â Benjamin felt insulted. âAre you saying right now Iâm like a dog chasing after a bone?â
âTo be honest, thatâs what I think,â she shrugged her shoulders. âOtherwise, you tell me, do you think itâs possible for a man and a woman in their peak youth to sleep in the same room without so much as touching each other for eight freaking months? It just means, your approaches are totally failing!â. âJ- Just how much is she telling you about our day-to-day lives?â Benjaminâs heart began beating faster.
âPretty much everything,â Jane said, putting an almost sadistic grin on her face to tease him further. âEven the time when you touched her feet in the middle of the night and begged her to let you join in her foreign trip.â Benjaminâs face was cooked with embarrassment. Jane just looked greatly amused. âHaha, you should change your attitude if you want to make her look at you in a different way. Stop caring too much, and be yourself.â âSheâs my wife. Isnât it only natural that I care for her?â Benjamin asked.
He had been going out of his way to please his wife, and he found it hard to believe that exact same thing kept him from entering his wifeâs heart all this while. âOf course, we do,â Jane said, âbut donât do it like youâre a thirsty little dog. You get what Iâm saying?â Benjamin nodded with hesitation, even though he still had a lot of doubts. (Iâm not doing it like a thirsty little dog, though.) âThen do this tonight,â Jane gave him a plan. âYou want me to do what?â Benjamin cried out in shock.
