âWhy were you reminded of him suddenly?â
âJust curious.â
âIâve heard from Di Yi that he will be returning soon. He was progressing well overseas, and it seemed like Uncle Di wanted him to return home. It seemed like Di An didnât like the Di Family, and has delayed coming back for half a year,â Gu Xin continued. âDi Yi didnât have a good relationship with Di An. It must be because Di An was the son of Uncle Diâs mistress. I donât think Di An should return as well, else Di Yi wouldnât be happy about it.â
Lu Manman looked at Gu Xin.
Gu Xin noticed it, and asked, âDid I say something wrong?â
âItâs nothing.â Lu Manman looked away.
Gu Xin didnât like to scheme and plot against others. It was tiring for her to do so. Hence, it had been easy for Di Yi to plot against her in her previous life.
The car reached the Lu Familyâs house quickly.
Lu Manman got off, and told Gu Xin to drive slowly before going into the house.
Her parents were in the living room.
Her father worked in the Lu Firm. He had risen to a high position after his years of service. Since they had hired a CEO for the company, he didnât have to work so hard as the president. He was also at the age where he wanted to spend more time with his wife. Hence, he was at home more often now.
When they saw Lu Manman, Lu Zishan asked, âIâve heard from your mom that you angered Old Master?â
âDad, I didnât anger him. He was trying to make things difficult for us.â Lu Manman whined as she walked to her dad and leaned on him. âI just had to retort to some of the things he said.â
âYour mom told me everything. You shouldnât have angered him.â
âDad, donât worry, I know what Iâm doing. I wonât really anger Grandpa. I understand that you love him a lot. I just wanted to teach the second uncle a lesson, or they would think that we should bow down to their every command. They are leeching off us, and yet they order us around. I canât stand their behavior,â Lu Manman said angrily.
âYou werenât like this last time.â
âThatâs in the past. Iâm not like this now. Dad, donât worry, I wonât let them climb over our heads anymore,â Lu Manman said confidently.
Lu Zishan shook his head and smiled. He then said, âAlright, but donât go overboard.â
âI know,â Lu Manman said smilingly. She knew her parents would agree to everything.
âOh, right. Xiuwen, Dadâs birthday is coming in half a month. Have you thought of what we should give him?â Lu Zishan asked He Xiuwen as he turned to her.
He Xiuwen shook her head, and replied, âYour dad is really picky. Iâm scared to buy gifts for him.â
âItâs not hard,â Lu Manman interrupted.
âDo you have a good suggestion?â Lu Zishan asked joyfully.
âAllowing Lu Xuanran to work in Lu Firm would be the best gift for grandpa,â Lu Manman said slowly.
Lu Zishan frowned, and replied, âI donât want to let Lu Xuanran into the company. He wouldnât be a good fit.â
âThatâs why I want him to be in. Dad, heâs a loser, and we need to take advantage of that. Donât worry, Iâll monitor him.â
âHow would you monitor him?â
âIâll enter the company too.â
âAre you agreeing to work for the company?â Lu Zishan asked excitedly.
He had tried to ask her to take on a role in the company in the past, but to no avail.
Lu Manman had just wanted to be a good wife to Wen Yun, and hadnât wanted to take over her fatherâs company. She had felt that Wen Yun would be able to help her manage the company well given his capabilities.
In her previous life, he had done exactly that, just that he had managed it as his company!
âYes, I agree to enter the company. I will help you,â Lu Manman said sincerely.
Lu Zishan patted her shoulders, and said, âYouâre my only daughter. Iâm glad now that youâre willing to take over the familyâs business.â
âI was young and naive,â Lu Manman said as she teared up.
In her previous life, her dad wouldnât force her even though she rejected his offer.
If she hadnât told him about her intentions, she wouldnât have known how much he wanted her to take over the company.
Lu Manman could feel her heart aching.
She was never going to disappoint people important to her in this life.
She was also never going to forgive anyone that bullied her!
