Chapter 40
Love After Divorce
Chapter 40:.
If Stella didnât already know what was going on, she was sure that the words she had just spoken would lead others to misinterpret her intentions with this man. Only she knew how fast her heart was beating at that momentâ¦.
It felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. It was the first time she had said something like that to a man, in a situation where a man and a woman were alone in the same room in the middle of the night. Words like these⦠itâs hard not to be misunderstood.
After speaking, Stella saw no movement from the man in front of her; it was as if he had not heard her. She knew her voice had been soft, but not so soft that, in such a quiet room, he would not hear her.
So what was she trying to do?
Stella glared at the man in front of her and said more clearly, âHurry up! Take off your pants. Iâll wash them for you. This damned man, why did she have to repeat it before he started to move? She cursed him silently.
Rene Kingston raised his arm and looked at his injured right hand, saying, âIâm injuredâ¦. I canât do it. Iâm weak.â Those words were as arrogant as they could be, but that man spoke in such a nonchalant tone.
It was as if now that he was injured, he had to treat him like a king. He could almost make someone die of rage!
They were in the car; why didnât he mention that his hand was injured? When she was feeding him in the hospital, why didnât she say anything about his hand? Was his hand made of glass? Stella was furious.
However, his words sounded like those of a hooligan. Stella could do nothing except grit her teeth and say, âThen itâs okayâ¦.
I wonât wash them.â He replied in a threatening tone. Anyway, Stella knew how obsessed the president was with cleanliness; it wouldnât take long for him to compromise.
Whatâs more, she had already done everything she could to offer to wash for him. Now there was nothing more she could do. RK raised an eyebrow and said, âSo, you plan to make it up to him? Thatâs fineâ¦
I donât have any problem. Iâll deduct the money from your salary tomorrow.â
How could she think like that? She would have to work hard every day just to pay for her pair of pants. This bastard! He was threatening her with his salary, wasnât he?

At first, Stella wanted to threaten the man, but now she was the one threatened by him. Stella was furious. âYou⦠Donât go too far!â
When they were still married, this man used to harass her, but now, even after their divorce, he was still harassing her. He harassed her in front of her grandmother, in front of everyone in the company, and now he was in her house, harassing her over a pair of pants! That was not a man!
âCome here,â he completely ignored her words. RK immediately gave her the order, ignoring the angry woman in front of him. Stella gritted her teeth and silently cursed him for being shameless.
He had pretended to be incapacitated in the hospital, making her feed him, and now, with dirty pants, he was still acting as if he was helpless. This man was so shameless!
How could he treat a young girl like that? Stella didnât move and stayed where she was. At that moment, she wanted to turn around and leave, but she knew she couldnât do that. She couldnât afford to make the president unhappy.
If that happened, they would take money out of her paycheck, and she didnât want that.
So, as unwilling as she was, Stella thought better of it and decided to let it go. She forced herself to obey. There was nothing to be ashamed of. If he wasnât ashamed, why should she be? Stella took a deep breath, walked over and held out her hand.
She lowered her head and blushed, not knowing where to look. Meanwhile, the man in front of her looked at her lazily, as if he was used to being served by others. Stella gritted her teeth angrily. If it wasnât because she couldnât hit that man, she would have done it long ago.
How could he be so shameless? Seeing that Stella hadnât moved for a long time, RK looked at her and coldly ordered, âWhy did you stop? Go onâ¦â
How⦠How could he be so calm? Didnât the president know how to be ashamed?
âWell⦠Youâ¦â Stella lowered her head and said, âThatâ¦. You donât think itâs inconvenient for me to help you?â
In the end, it was better for them to work things out between them. After all, they had been divorced for many years. Besides, he was getting married to another woman next month. It was better for them to keep their distance.
âNo, it isnât.â Stella lowered her head, but the manâs long, slender fingers lifted her chin. Their eyes met.
âTo a simple-minded person, there is no difference between a man and a woman. So why do you think so much, or is it that you want to go back to the past?â Stella was speechless. This man⦠he shouldnât be asking this, should he?
It was true that things had happened between them in the past, but it wasnât wrong because at that time they were still legally husband and wife. It was normal that kind of interaction between husband and wife.
But now⦠how could they be husband and wife? They had been divorced for a long time â this kind of thing was too intimate!
Stella said, âIt was⦠all in the past. Whatâs more, arenât you getting married to Sophia next month? I think you should pay more attention to your identity.â Stella reminded him that the difference between their statuses was too strong.
Besides, she knew her limits. She knew that her heart always belonged to Sophia. And Sophia was her sister.
Although neither of them wanted to accept it since they were young, it was a truth that could not be changed. In other words, after he married Sophia next month, he would become her nominal brother-in-law. Soon she would have to call her ex-husband brother-in-law. Their relationship would become increasingly chaotic. Stella was even less willing.
âGetting marriedâ¦â RK withdrew the hand holding her chin. He looked at her, parted his thin lips, and said, âStella, youâre always talking about my marriage. Are you jealous of Sophia Richards?â
Stella? Jealous of Sophia Richards? Stella felt that this man didnât much care who his wife was. She thought that only those who called her âStellaâ were the people closest to her, the ones who cared about her and wanted the best for her.
One was her grandmother, and the other was Tristan. He thought that when RK called her that, it might have some special meaning to him.
But she seemed to think too highly of herself. Stella pushed his hand away from her chin. âDonât think too much. I donât. Who would be jealous of her?â Even though she couldnât let go of this man in her heart, so what, he wasnât going to marry Sophia?
âI didnât always mention it.â RKâs hand, which had been pushed away, showed no anger at her words. Instead, he laughed, a smile appearing in his blue eyes. But whether that smile was mocking or teasing was uncertain. Whichever way it was, it was unsettling.
RK said, âWhy did you stop?â. Stella didnât know where to look. Her face was as red as an apple. If he noticed her blushing, wouldnât it become a joke to this man? Forget it! Since this man was so rude to her, there was nothing to worry about!
Stella took a deep breath and decided to put an end to this ordeal as soon as possible. She made up her mind. She closed her eyes and pulled off RKâs pants, âDarling! What are you doing?â
