Chapter 680
Love After Divorce
Chapter 680:
âGood boy. When you grow up, you can play with him. But heâs too dangerous for you now,â Emily said as she stroked Adrianâs hair, smiling tenderly at him.
Adrian pouted, fixed his hair and fell silent.
Adrian had just discovered that, no matter who she was, even Baby liked to mess up her hair.
âAuntie, Iâm going to make a phone call,â Adrian suddenly said, remembering Baby. âI donât know what sheâll be doing now.â
Emily nodded, allowing him to go.
Adrian quickly ran to his room.
âWhat are you doing, kid?â asked Adrian when Baby picked up the phone.
âIâm in my room,â Baby replied, a note of irritation in his voice.
âWhy didnât you come out to play?â Adrian suddenly remembered Babyâs father. He couldnât believe that after all, Baby was being scolded for something so trivial.
âWell, Iâll go out later,â Baby said. The Brook family was very different from the Kingston family, and the relationship between the two families was somewhat complicated. Baby didnât like her own relatives, least of all during the New Year, when they all got together.
Although the Brook family had lived abroad for a long time, the older members of the family insisted that they all return to celebrate New Yearâs together.
âAre you all right?â asked Adrian, concerned.
âIâm fine. Iâll call you later,â Baby replied, before hearing a knock on the door and quickly hanging up the phone.
Adrian didnât have time to say anything else. He didnât think much about what had happened; he knew Babyâs temper and knew that no one could easily provoke him.
He looked outside and saw the fireworks lighting up the sky. He immediately forgot about the call and ran downstairs.

âItâs so beautiful,â Stella said, leaning into RKâs arms as she watched the fireworks out the window. A natural sigh escaped her lips.
âAs long as youâre here, everything will look perfect,â RK replied, smiling as he hugged Stella even tighter.
âDo you want to stay in bed for a while?â RK asked worriedly, as Stella looked somewhat listless. He didnât want to take her to the hospital for a checkup right then, so he just hoped she would feel better the next day.
âIâm fine,â Stella said, shaking her head. If she fell asleep right then, she would have a hard time waking up later. She wanted to count down with RK.
âI thought this would just be a family dinner. I didnât expect it to be so lively,â Stella said, smiling as she thought about what had happened earlier.
âThis year has been the busiest,â RK said, although he didnât like the hustle and bustle, he felt it was different that day.
âThere are so many Indians living around here, and the bustle will continue until midnight,â RK commented. Most of the people living near them were Indians, and RK knew almost all of them.
âWhy are there so many?â Stella asked, intrigued. She had always felt there shouldnât be so many people from her nation here.
âYes, the Brook family lives nearby, too. Their whole familyâ¦â
âTheyâve moved here,â RK continued, realizing that Stella only knew a little about the Brook family and decided to explain more about them.
âYes,â Stella recalled, mentioning Baby. Whenever she spoke, Baby used her native language with great passion.
RK wasnât sure why so many families from his previous generation had moved there, and honestly, he wasnât too interested.
Stella looked down to where Adrian was playing happily with Ruben, and a smile broke out on her face. Adrianâs happiness was the greatest satisfaction to her.
âDo you want to go downstairs?â RK asked with a smile. He thought that if Stella didnât fall asleep, maybe she would feel better if she went downstairs and joined everyone.
RK helped Stella put on a coat and led her downstairs.
âHoney, Daddy, you came down to play too.â Adrian was the first to see them, and ran up to them excitedly.
âYes,â Stella nodded, stroking Adrianâs head affectionately.
Emily, who was sitting on the swing, watched them with a warm smile. When she saw Stella come down, she waved to her.
Stella walked over to Emily, sat down next to her on the swing and waved.
âStella,â Emily reached out, taking Stellaâs hand and resting her head on her shoulder.
âIn the future, Iâll have to call you sister-in-law. Youâve taken advantage of me,â Stella teased, looking at her with a smile.
âWhat do you mean âtaking advantageâ â youâre younger than me! Itâs your familyâs fault Rene wasnât born first,â Emily replied, lifting her head and gently pinching Stellaâs cheek.
âIf Rene and Ruben were dating, people would surely think of Rene as the older brother,â Stella commented, looking at RK with a look full of love.
âThatâs because Ruben is childish, but you canât change your age,â Emily said, laughing. At first, she didnât believe that Ruben was Reneâs older brother, but she soon realized that RK was much more mature than Ruben.
âYes,â Stella didnât refute Emilyâs words. Actually, she didnât think Ruben was that naive.
âDo you think youâll have a baby here?â Emily asked, placing her hand on Stellaâs belly as she watched her curiously.
âWho knows? Weâll find out when we go for a checkup tomorrow,â Stella replied, shaking her head. âIf I had another child, I could go with Adrian. But if I didnât have one, that wouldnât be bad either.â
Mr. and Mrs. Kingston went downstairs together.
Stella and Emily got up from the swing and walked toward them.
âOne minute to New Yearâs,â Mrs. Kingston said, sighing as she thought about how RK and Reuben had grown.
âFive, four, three, two, oneâ¦. Happy New Year!â the whole family counted together.
At midnight, Ruben set off the fireworks.
âHappy New Year!â
